She blinked in confusion and looked back at him. "What? Why?"

She turned back around to face him and listened again. "Is it just me, or did the music stop?" She asked. No sound was coming from the ballroom.
"It has stopped" said turning to lock the balcony doors.
Lucy began to breath heavily in a slight panic, peering over railing once again, only to see a small lake and a garden with a gazebo.
Jeff looked over the railing looking for an escape route.
A gunshot from inside made Lucy jump and scream.
Jeff looked at Lucy " we have to do something "
"But what?" She asked frantically, covering her mouth.
"Can you try something" he asked frantic.
"Can you try something" he asked frantic.
"Try wha-" She began, but was cut off by a piercing pain that throbbed in her temples, causing her to gasp and fall to her knees.
"Lucy" he called out kneeling by her.
"My h-head. It hurts." She managed to say while holding her head in her hands and grimacing.
He picked her up and moved along the balcony looking for a way down.
"Jeff...he's here." She whispered, holding onto him tightly.
"I know" he said "can you hold on to me?'" he asked.
She nodded and wrapped her arms around his neck tightly, but not tight enough to choke of hurt him.
He climbed over the railing and grabbed a trellis.
"Be careful." She said softly, trying to hide her panic.
"Doing my best" he grunted hoping the trellis could support them both. Slowly he climbed down.
She held onto him tightly and looked down, hopeful that her dress wasn't getting in his way.
Soon they were on the ground " can you run?" he asked.
She stood up straight, her head still pulsing with pain, but it was bearable. Her dress on the other hand wasn't. "I can try." She said, picking up her skirts.
"Just tear it" he said kneeling to help her.
She nodded and bent down at the waist and ripped a layer off with a grunt and shaking hands.
He pulled the extra fabric away from her feet.
"Good?" She asked, tossing some fabric away.
"Lets go" he said reaching for her hand
She took his hand tightly in hers. "Where too?"
She nodded and began a light jog toward the stables.
Once they reached the stables, lucy opened the large doors and stepped inside, then closed the doors behind them, locking it,
He walked along the stable looking in the stalls for a couple of strong horses.
"Jeff," she whispered. "I hear them coming." She said.
"Here" he said opening all the stalls letting all the horses out.
"I was thinking we could hide, but this works to..I guess." She muttered and stepped out of the horses way.
"I think they can sense you somehow " he said as he swung himself up on the last horse and held a hand out to her.
She frowned and took his hand and swung herself up on her horse behind him.
He urged the horse into a run bursting out the stable door.
She wrapped her arms around his waist and looked back at the small crowd that was after them, or more say lucy. She let out a shuddery breath when her eyes met her fathers.
He raced the horse down the road away from the house and towards town.
Hatred and disgust clouded her mind and made her start to silently cry into jeffs back as they rode away.
Soon they were in town and he raced for the motel for their things.
Lucy didn't bother to ask where their next move was going to be. She did worry about everyone at the ball, and even Ben.
Jeff ran up the stairs of the motel and grabbed their bags and ran back down.
Lucy hovered on the front porch of the motel and waited, sitting on the steps, still crying.
He ran out and ran to the town livery loading the wagon and hooking up the horses.
Lucy buried her face into her knees as her shoulders shook. She cried because of her ruined dress, the safety of herself and Jeff, and most definitely by the betrayal of her father.
