"Are you okay" Jeff asked her.

"What? Oh, yes. I'm okay." She lied, dropping her hand and finishing off her sandwich.
" good" he replied and danced around the room with Caroline.
Lucy smiled and wiped her hands on her skirt. "You always make her smile."
Lucy roller her eyes, smirking. "Whatever you say, hot shot. Now let's get going."
" Yes of course don't want to be late"
Lucy took Caroline from him and grabbed her coin purse, then went outside.
Jeff followed to help her into the wagon.
She nodded her thanks and held Caroline on her lap.
Jeff got in next to ghee and made sure she was situated before he took up the reins .
Lucy held Caroline around her tiny waist and kissed the top of her head.
Jeff laid the reins across the horses and they were off to town.
Lucy couldn't held but laugh as Caroline started to whimper at this new experience. She lifted her up and laid her against her shoulder, rubbing her back. "It's okay little dove."
Jeff smiled at his family as they bounced diwn the road.
Lucy buried her face against their daughters bonnet and hid the temptation to scratch her neck.
Jeff whistled a old folk tune as the got closer to town.
Lucy sat up straight and sighed softly as hey approached town. It was busy today.
The wagon pulled into town and the streets bustled with people.
"Alright." She nodded and held Caroline close to her.
Jeff parked the wagon and jumped down off the wagon.
Lucy waited for him to help her down, holding out her hand.
Jeff helped Lucy and Caroline down then held Lucy's hand.
"Where do you want to go?" She asked.
" I need to go to the hardware store and the feed store"
"Okay. I'll go to the bakery then the post office. I'll meet you here later?" She asked.
She smiled and kissed his quickly. "See you soon. I love you."
"Love you too" He said and turned toward the hardware store.
Lucy walked the opposite direction toward the bakery, carrying Caroline.
Jeff bought some wire for fence repair and carried it to the wagon then headed to the feed store.
Lucy bought some bread and baked goods. The baker gave little Caroline a piece of cookie cough to chew on. "Thank you, you're too kind." Lucy smiled.
Jeff purchased some grain for the pig and chickens and went to get the wagon so he could load up the feed.
Lucy left the bakery and strolled past the post office. A lady ran out and called for her. "Lucy! There's a letter for you." Lucy turned around and pursed her lips. "Oh?"
Jeff loaded the feed then drove the wagon back to its spot and he waited for Lucy.
The lady nodded and held out a odd red envelope. "Right," lucy nodded. "Thank you." Lucy smiled and tucked the letter in the pocket of her skirt.
Jeff whistled a little as he waited.
Lucy held Caroline on her hip and strolled up to the wagon.
Jeff hopped down and smiled at the two of them. "Ready to head for home?"
Lucy shrugged. "If you want. Is there anything else you need to do here?" She asked.
He shook his head "not that I can think of"
"Okay." She nodded. "I got a letter." She patted her skirt pocket with her free hand.
"A letter?" he asked confused as he helped her into the wagon.
She sat down on the seat, setting Caroline on her lap. "yes. Red envelope. Odd, no?" She inquired.
"Very" he replied as he started the horses into a trot.
