"The baby." She groaned and tried to get out of bed.

He sat up "What about the baby?" he felt the wet sheets.
"It's time." She looked over at him with fear in her eyes.
He jumped out of bed "I will go get the doctor".
Lucy whimpered and stood up and put one hand on the wall as she bent over. "And J-Jane."
"Yes here too I will send her here first"
She nodded and put her other hand on her tummy as she groaned.
"I won't be long" he kissed her and rushed out of the house.
Lucy sat back down on the bed and put her head between her knees.
Jeff ran his horse to Jane's house and woke her telling her to rush to the house then he headed to the doctors house.
Jane quickly dressed and rode a horse to their home.
Jeff got the doctor and headed back to the house.
Jane helped Lucy get settled in bed as she tried to calm her down and got some supplies prepared.
Jeff ran back into the house his hands shaking.
The house echoed with Lucy's screams.
He couldn't stand to hear her scream as he paced back and forth.
Several minutes have past and the doctor nor Jane has left the bedroom yet.
Jeff paced waiting not wanting to interrupt.
Two minutes later, the sound of a baby crying came from the bedroom
His heart skipped a beat and he pushed open the door.
Jane was holding a tiny baby, wiping it clean with a white cloth blanket.
He walked up to her a smile on his face.
"It's a girl." She whispered and held his daughter out to him.
He reached for the baby worried he would hurt such a tiny thing.
Jane set the baby in his arms and showed him how to hold her.Lucy was settled in bed, breathing hard and trying to stay awake.
The doctor was packing up his things. Lucy opened her eyes to slits and smiled weakly at Jeff.
He moved to her side and kissed her "Shes perfect baby"
"I want to see." She whispered hoarsely.
He sat next to her on the bed and held the baby so she could see.
She turned her head toward him and smiled at the baby. "She's so precious..." She reached a shaky hand and touched her little cheek.
Lucy's eyes drooped. The baby began to cry.
He bounced the baby "You better sleep"
He sighed "Well I can't help with that"
"I can." She shifted and slowly sat up against the headboard. The doctor said he'd be back on a few days to check on her.
He handed her the baby and watched.
Lucy shrugged an arm out of her nightgown and tugged it down back her breasts with one hand.
He sighed as he thought about the miracle of life.
Lucy put the baby on her breast on pulled up the blanket to cover herself as she did this.
He smiled and stood "Need anything?"
He nooded and went out for some water.
Lucy smiled as she nursed her baby.
He brought the water back and set it next to the bed.
He smiled and kissed her. "You are welcome"
She kissed him back and rubbed their daughter's back.
