Mong Dal | 1 comments Hi, I am Mong. From Earth (I assure you). I have read the adventure genre mostly. I find myself interesting in reading new genres (Last time, it was a gothic). I am here to explore new genres. I am starting to think, reading is something i enjoy more than procrastinating. Hope to get more into reading.

message 353: by Asli (new)

Asli (aslitemel) Heyy, My name is Aslı and I’m from Turkey. Like everyone else I have been procrastinating for quite a while and now have stacks of books in my room waiting to be read (I might be guilty of buying a lot of books in the process of procrastination). So I wanted to joing this group in order to stay encouraged to read by being surrounded by people who have felt the sane way as I have :)

message 354: by Althea ☾ (new)

Althea ☾ (themoonwholistens) | 1115 comments Hi Asli! Yes we're all procrastinators here :) welcome to the group!

message 355: by queen victoria (new)

queen victoria (makevocaloidgreatagain) hey! i’m lemon girl. i’m almost 13 and i’m from the united states. i love books, music, aesthetics, and bullet journals. my favorite genre is fantasy and my last favorite is nonfiction. check out my bio for more information about me!

message 356: by |SHELBY| (new)

|SHELBY| (shelbystewartt) Hi everyone! My name is shelby! I'm from Canada! I'm not too sure what I should say but I guess I'll tell you what I like to read. I like classic novels and dystopia YA. I'm a bit weird when it comes to reading. When I get into a groove and I'll read for a bit but the second I lose interest or put a book down for too long, I won't read again for like half a month sometimes. I guess that's it. Don't be afraid to reach out to me and to get into contact! I'm always looking for bookish friends xx

message 357: by Shalini (new)

Shalini (marvin2342) | 5 comments Hi people! I'm Shalini and I'm from India. I'm 22 and a Chemical engineering grad fresh out of college. So finally I feel like I'll be able to read those hundreds of books I've only been dreaming about reading for the past few years. I can read anything as long as it's not too uneventful and boring, but I find I prefer mostly science, sci-fi, travelogues, memoirs, fantasy and adventures- a lot of them!
And let me confess, it was by some really unexpected random chance that I came across this group but just looking at the name, I knew this was the place for me! XD Nice to meet you guys. Hoping to find more bookish connections.

message 358: by Jessica (new)

Jessica Hello everyone! My name's Jessica. I'm 40 years old, and definitely a procrastinator when it comes to reading (but not for a lack of love for a good book!) I have ADHD innatentive type and Dyslexia, which makes reading a challenge. I've tried audiobooks, which are ok, but really want to pick back up - and stick with- reading. I'm glad this group is here. I look forward to being a part of it :)

message 359: by Cam (new)

Cam Hello everyone! I'm Cam, 33, currently living in Corsica, South of France. I read all types of stuff, from the vacuum manual to classics to flyers to bad romance to more current, popular books, including non-fiction. Literally no discrimination. I have a giant TBR (1196 books as of today) with extremely varied books in there (when a book sounds cool I basically add it).

I read on my own, sometimes three books in a week, but sometimes nothing at all for a month. I'm hoping this group can get me to read more consistently - apart from my TBR, I also have a medium box of physical books I need to tackle. I am hoping to become a bit more proactive, ideally prioritising the most interesting stuff to read it first.

I have no idea how this works, but if I could find someone with the same books in his or her TBR, maybe we can catch up when we're done and therefore have some kind of accountability? Or maybe join a group reading some of the stuff on my list?

Would love to hear what you think!

Elena Granger | 138 comments Hello Cam! Welcome :) Sounds great but you can also add the books you want/plan to read to the Buddy Read Nominations (September). This thread is created every month :)

Thanks for your reply! I'm sorry, I'm new to this, how do I add a book? Should I just reply to the main post? Many thanks!! Cheers

Hi Cam! I'm Althea, one of the moderators :) yes, you can just add a new comment to the thread that Elena sent if you are looking for a buddy for book/s this month! If someone says that they want to read the book with you or someone has already nominated the book as well, a thread will automatically be made by Aless. The main post is just to track everything and so that everyone is aware what books want to be read by a specific person.

I hope this clears it up! You can check our Buddy Read Guidelines and Group Read Guidelines for more details :)

Or you can also check out the Discussion Threads for Existing Buddy Reads and Group Reads if people are already reading a book that you are interested in.

Welcome to the group! We're glad to have you <3

message 363: by Jericho (new)

Jericho McKraven (jerichomckraven) Hi! I'm new here! I don't know how groups work and am totally goodreads illiterate! 🤣

I'm from California and am looking for goodreads buddies who adore books as much as I do and won't expect a ton out of me. I figured anyone who loves books and procrastinates as much as I do must be a kindred spirit!

message 364: by Jackson (new)

Jackson Collier Hello, my name is Jackson and books are actually the way I procrastinate on other things. I’ve been a classics crunch with my recent reading but I’m looking for more contemporary books to dive into. Looking forward to meeting other bookworms.

message 365: by Mirte (new)

Mirte Hi! My name is Mirte, I'm 20 years old and I live in Belgium. My favorite genre is fantasy, but I also enjoy a good contemporary from time to time. I'm total Sarah J. Maas trash and I'm excited to be part of this group!

message 366: by [deleted user] (new)

Hi everyone, My name is Paolamarie but you guys can call me Lola and I'm 26 years old. I'm originally from Puerto Rico but I'm in Arkansas. I started a bachelor degree in Hispanic Studies but couldn't graduated. I'm a lover of books since the age of 5 and right now I love the fantasy and supernatural genre adding here and there the dystopian genre.

At this moment I'm reading The Giver and I love to read on Wattpad(sorry beforehand). I have a digital library so extensive that I really don't know which one start reading.

I hope we can get to know each other and share our passion for reading really thoroughly. Thanks for the invite to the group.

message 367: by Becky (new)

Becky haxton | 3 comments Hi I’m Becky, I’m 46 almost 47 (in December), I am all about my son and grandchildren, and I looooove to read. My favorite genre is Amish Christian fiction but I am learning to go outside of my comfort zone.

message 368: by Paris (new)

Paris V.T. (on hiatus) (alexa-d-vt) | 1 comments Hello everybody!
My name is Alexandra. I love reading and I really really love procrastinating. My tr list goes on forever and I kept buying books despite the growing pile on my bookshelf. It is worst because I love collecting too. Hopefully, by joining this group I can be motivated to not procrastinate so much.

message 369: by Rickea (new)

Rickea | 1 comments Hi everyone! I’m Rickea and so psyched to have a safe community to talk freely about books. I am 21 and currently finishing up my undergrad. It’s been tough getting back into reading lately, but I’m hoping getting involved and reaching out to people who love to read just like I do will influence me to make more time for it. I love reading romance but would like to venture off into more sci-fi and thrillers.

message 370: by lulu (new)

lulu (luarhan) Hello there ✿✿

I am Ari, 23, currently living in Germany (not a native though).
I love reading multiple books at the same time so I don't get bored by one genre, the only problem is, I have a hard time finishing them in the end (have a tendency to put them for later)...

The ones I read most are memoirs, humor and horror at the moment. I tend to change my genres pretty often though.
When in a slump, I veer toward children's books and graphic novels.

Hopefully, I can finish my TBR by next year so I can fill it up again with new ones.

I am happy to be in a procrastination group without pressure.

Nice knowing you all (✿◠‿◠)

message 371: by [deleted user] (new)

Hi!
I'm Beatrice (but you can call me Bea). I'm 18 and italian. Currently I'm studiyng in HS.

I usually buy more books than I can read, and lately with school and other occupations I've not been reading as much as I wanted. That's why I joined this group: I hope it'll give me the motivation to start reading again without pressure (also I hope it'll give me the opportunity to open up with people, since I'm really shy)!

I usually read novels, although I want to dive more into horror books. Normally I don't read contemporary books, but lately I've bought a couple of them that i cant' wait to read.

I don't have a real TBR, I just decide what book I want to read next randomly choosing from all the books that I have bought. Usually I read more books at the same time, but I try to not read more than three/four books simultaneously.

Nice to meet you all!

message 372: by Spens (new)

Spens (Sphynx Reads) (sphynxreads) Hey y'all! My name is Spencer, I'm 21 years old, living in the Philippines. And I love to read pretty much anything. I could be reading a terrible book, but still enjoy the process of reading, if that makes any sense. If I'm being honest I'm not much of a procrastinator, but I am really good at putting off books that I actually want to read just because I'm intimidated by them. So I end up reading a lot of crappy books. Maybe y'all can force me to actually read some good stuff.

Anyway, feel free to add me or whatever. :)

message 373: by stu (new)

stu (blobmustardsprinkles) Hi!!!!!!, I'm Stuti. I live in Dubai. I mostly read YA and Fantasy. There are so many books I want to read instead I always re-read books. Ugh!!!!!

message 374: by Bonnie (new)

Bonnie | 1 comments Hi!!!
My name is Bonnie and I am a total procrastinator. I'm almost 22 years old from Kansas City. I love to read but my college courses tend to get in the way of my reading plans. So happy to be around my fellow procrastinators!

Thanks for having me!!

message 375: by Bob (new)

Bob Take heart, Bonnie. When I was in college (Ga Tech) I didn't get much reading done either. I only managed to squeeze in The Hobbit and the TLOTR trilogy over the summers.

message 376: by Katie (new)

Katie Borrelli | 2 comments Hi everyone! My name is Katie and I’m from Colorado. I love all kinds of genres but one series I’ve started several times but have yet to finish is the Eragon series by Christopher Paolini. There are also a few Stephen King books I’d like to read but I’m also crocheting giant octopus stuffies for my kids and nieces for Christmas so I can’t read at the moment!

Nice to meet everyone! - Katie

message 377: by Minaaaaa (new)

Minaaaaa | 3 comments Hi!! My name is Aaminah and I'm 16 years old. I've always had a huge obsession with all kinds of books, especially YA, fantasy and historical fiction, but I've only recently started reading English books again after going through this looong Chinese books phase (I'm half Chinese although I've never lived there). I joined this group because I want to be more active (I'm quite a big introvert) and make new friends with similar tastes in books as me and because I'm a huge procrastinator, although books are usually what I use to procrastinate on everything else I'm meant to be doing in life.

Nice to meet all of you!! and I'm really happy to be here :)

message 384: by Katie Leigh (new)

Katie Leigh | 3 comments Hi! I’m Katie and I’m from Washington State, just turned 24. I love horror, sci fi, true crime, fake crime, historical stuff, mythical stuff, fantasy stuff. The only thing I’m not big on is romance stuff. I’m also working on writing my own sci fi book and a few others! I also read abnormally fast and if left undisturbed for a day, I can usually go thru 3-5 books or more depending on size.

message 385: by Lacey (new)

Lacey | 1 comments Hello all, I’m Lacey. I’m 25 years old and from the West Midlands of England. I volunteer for a few charities supporting visually impaired people and like music and reading in my spare time.

I’m quite new to the bookish community and reading seriously but have always liked reading even if it was fanfiction haha. I’m trying to read a little of all sorts but do read a lot of Ya particularly Ya Fantasy. Some of my favourite books that I can think of are Six of Crows, the Percy Jackson series, Carry on by Rainbow Rowell and The Midnight Library

message 386: by Andrew (new)

Andrew (andrewsweet) Hi folks! I'm Andrew from the Seattle Area. I grew up reading fantasy and science fiction. Lately, I've been spinning up on some of the amazing female science fiction writers like Octavia Butler. Typically I read adult science fiction. Started LoTR, but never finished the series.

message 387: by Simona (new)

Simona Hiii! My name is Simona and I’m from Europe. It’s very new to me to be part of a group here but I’m very glad, y’all look so nice!😄 I’m 16 years old and i loove classics and young adult. I find that strange too keeping in mind how different the two genres are. I think that’s about it, let’s see how that goes!☺️

message 388: by Juliane (new)

Juliane | 364 comments Hi everyone, I'm Juliane from Germany, I am in my early 30s and I read various genres although fantasy is at the top of my list most of the time.
My unread pile at home is rather large so one of my new years resolutions is not to buy any new books next year and instead tackle the tbr-pile at home (in 2020 this resolution lastet until March :-D ).

message 389: by Abigail (new)

Abigail | 210 comments Hi everyone! I just realized that I've been around for almost an entire year without introducing myself.

I'm 17 and from the USA. Outside of reading I dabble in baking and sewing but a lot of my free time is dedicated to music. I listen to a lot and can also play a few instruments pretty well. I'm a volleyball player who isn't very good but is tall so it works ok.

I'll read pretty much anything YA. I branch out into Adult if it sounds good. I read on the principle that I'd rather be confused than bored (mostly because my memory is terrible so long expositions will be forgotten by the time I finish them). My TBR is so long because all you have do is tell me a book is enemies to lovers or LGBT+ and it's gonna get added.

message 390: by stu (new)

stu (blobmustardsprinkles) Hi!!!

message 391: by [deleted user] (new)

Hello! My name is Rachel, and I am 20 years old. I am from NY (not the city), and I am a current sophomore in college and I love to read in my spare time. I struggle a little with reading because of my major (music education), but this year I want to get more into reading. I usually read a lot when the semester is not in session, but I really want to try to read at least one book a semester during the Spring. Fingers crossed I actually can in between school work and practicing.

Happy reading to everyone <3

message 392: by Tedricka (new)

Tedricka (tadderley) | 8 comments hey guys, i'm tadderley! i'm from the bahamas but i cant swim, dont attack me! i'm going to do something about that this year! i'm 23 years of age, i love going to church, i love reading and writing and i am a college student. i am currently learning korean, and i love to watch asian dramas in my spare time. i am currently reading 'Word on Bathroom Walls' after watching the movie (it was so good)! i never should have read so many books when growing up, now i feel like i have nothing to read. its hard to find a good book to read lately, so if you know of any, recommend please. the last good book i read was 'breaths per minute', i wrote it and you can find it on wattpad :) !!

message 393: by Morgan (new)

Morgan (ramboambo) | 4 comments Hi everyone,
My name is Miranda and I'm a 27yo paramedic from Australia. I was one of those kids who could finish a full length novel in a day and now I'm older and want to return to my previous reading glory.
I'm looking forward to doing some challenges and getting out of my reading slump. :)
Happy Reading!

message 394: by Rubi (new)

Rubi Dillard (xtragedyxgirlx) | 16 comments Hi! I'm Rubi, 37 years old, currently residing in Ohio. My love of reading began in 3rd grade when my teacher at the time had each student read a chapter from Sideways Stories From Wayside School aloud to the rest of the class. I learned then that a book and an imagination can take you anywhere in the world. Then I discovered horror novels and really fell in love lol. I'm a bit of a thrill seeker when it comes to horror, I'm always on the lookout for the worst of the worst, the book so disturbing that when I finish it my brain says "nope we're not doing that again". I'm also a big fan of Laurell K Hamilton, Patricia Cornwell, Edward Lee, Wrath James White, and Clive Barker (I just finished reading The Scarlet Gospels). Anyway I guess that's it, nice meeting you all!!

message 397: by Raviteja (new)

Raviteja (fraggerbot) | 184 comments I've been here for while but I don't think I've introduced myself.

I'm Raviteja from India. I currently work as a Software Engineer. Apart from work, I occasionally play games on my PC, badminton (not for the last one year, thanks to covid) and play with my daughter. I used to watch Japanese anime back when I was in university (mostly Shonen). Most of those series were finished and I currently read One Piece alone. These days, I am putting most of my free time into reading.

My go-to genre is Epic fantasy, preferably adult. Other than that I read Mystery/Thrillers, particularly when I hit a Fantasy fatigue. This year, I plan to tackle my Fantasy TBR and cut them down.

Happy reading!

message 398: by Magdalaine (new)

Magdalaine | 1 comments Hi My name is Maggi. I'm a 28 year old mom who has always loved reading. I'm looking for new friends to discuss our favorite books and to catch up on more reading when I'm not making art projects with my girls or searching for bugs in the backyard.

message 399: by tuuli (new)

tuuli | 1 comments hi everyone! i'm tuuli, 21 years old and i'm from finland. i'm a communication student and currently finishing up my bachelor's thesis (literally JUST sent my (hopefully) final edit to my teacher).

i mostly read contemporary, but recently i've also been reading quite a few memoirs/autobiographies. i also like to read poetry. my unpopular book opinions are that i just can't get into fantasy, and trilogies are my nemeses.

besides reading i like to write, play ukulele (and sometimes bass), dance, play games, and watch too much youtube and streams :)

message 400: by Angelica (new)

Angelica (ekangelica) Hiya! My name is Angelica. I've been putting off getting a goodreads account for like a decade and now I'm surrounded by stacks of books I always "plan" on reading but can never get to! Hoping I can make a dent in the stacks of books I have in 2021 and internet-meet some cool readers here, too! ^.^
