The book was a well illustrated book about a levitating probe going to an alien planet and interacting with many different bizarre creatures and landscapes. If I recall correctly, it is was written as a journal/log of the events. It must have been published in the late 80s. It is more of a coffee table picture book than an actual novel. Thanks!
