Underground Knowledge — A discussion group discussion
New Members: Introduce yourselves here

My pen name is Dr Jasmine and I am a practicing family doctor with 1/3 million patients to my name so far. I am passionate about sharing what I have learnt about humanity through my books.
Love, Demystified- had just been published and is
an idiosyncratic book that combines science and fiction, philosophy, poetry and some original art, to answer all your questions about love; the meaning of life; the design and the purpose of the universe.
Why do we love sex so much? Who is God and where is he? How to maintain passion in a long-term relationship and experience the highest levels of pleasure? What is the structure, function, and the meaning of every entity in the Universe, and what is your place amongst them? These, and many other questions, are answered.
Wishing you all a lovely evening :o)
Dr Jasmine

I refer you to my "Timely & Trending topics in the Underground" post... https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...
It includes a tiny snapshot of topics Undergrounders are discussing.
No topic is off-limits. Feel free to have YOUR say.

How America Works... and Why it Doesn't: A Brief Guide to the US Political System

It looks very timely - so much so I've taken the liberty of establishing a new discussion thread for it titled, How America Works...and Why it Doesn't, and I'm suggesting our fellow Undergrounders check it out and have their say.
The new thread can be viewed at https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

Welcome Alyssa! Don't forget to have YOUR say in any discussion thread that appeals...

Welcome Dilip.
Your book sounds like it qualifies as underground knowledge and should be added to our Alternative Thinking Books discussion thread. Add it whenever you like with link to the book...and good luck with it!

Dear Lance, Thank you for taking the time to read my post and advising me to post it on the alternative thinking discussion thread. The reason I have written 4 books on the subject is that I was totally distraught to learn that more than 400 years after Isaac Newton we still do not have a theory for how light travels from point A to point B. I had thought that by now we would have a beautiful theory to describe the wonderful phenomenon of light. Unfortunately we don’t. The theory of light that we do have, is logically highly improbable, cluttered with maths and does not reflect the beauty of the natural world. In an age of the mobile phone and space exploration we don’t have a clue of how radio waves are formed or of how they propagate. Our theory of atomic structure (believe it or not) and photon emission and absorption is laughing out loud ridiculous. In fact our present interpretation of these things requires faith on the scale that the early Roman Catholic church required of its adherents. But, you say what about the amazing achievements of science in recent years, nuclear energy, mobile phones, the internet, television, space exploration: the list goes on and on. The explanation for this is that an approximately right answer often works as well as a more precise one. There are numerous examples of this. NASA does not use General Relativity to calculate space missions, Radio engineers do not use quantum field theory or quantum electrodynamics to calculate radio-transmissions, they use Maxwell’s equations, which are not truly accurate but which nevertheless work very well and so on. To help readers who are interested in reading my book, ‘Redefining the Electron’ I would like to upload and distribute the book as a PDF file. Any advice on how to do this would be appreciated. Incidentally ‘Redefining the Electron’ offers a new explanation of gravity. Further, every fact is meticulously backed up by citations including chapter and page number, so it is not a wild goose chase you are on.

In the book you will find other interesting things: the use of anthropology against the Japanese during WW2, or how wolves’ DNA was changed by just a human idea, and much more.
Don't get scared by the word cybernetics from the title. You'll see how easy is to understand the whole concept!
Thank you!

Dilip, you have raised points I've never even considered let alone reasoned how or why. Scientific and scientifically disposed Undergrounders will be able to respond more intelligently to your latest post than I.
As for uploading and distributing your book as a PDF file, I'd imagine adding it, or adding a link to it, on the book's homepage -- either here on Goodreads or on Amazon or on the book's website if there is one or on all the aforementioned -- would be your best bet. You could then advertise and promote it on all those platforms and on social media generally.

Stefan, yours sounds like yet another interesting book that is very appropriate for this group. Good luck with it and feel free to add it to our Alternative Thinking Books discussion thread as specified in message #1174 above.

Welcome Erik. Your book and someone of your background appear
well suited to this group.

I suggest you post the book in our Alternative Thinking Books thread.
Also, for the interest of fellow Undergrounders, I include your bio here. Hope that's okay...
"Erik Rye has a Master's degree from the Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies. In the State Department and the Department of Homeland Security, Rye managed complex counterterrorism and national security crises. In leading Fortune 500 companies, he created and led expert teams to address modern slavery and online promotion of terrorism and violence. He has decades of field-tested insights into complex conflicts and the belief systems that drive them, spanning 50 countries on six continents. He speaks Japanese, has two children, and is the custodian of a small, furry animal they love."

I am a vegan for 3 reasons:
* environmental
* animal welfare
* my own health
I also drive an electric car, walk a lot, do everything possible to avoid buying plastic or plastic packaging. I bake bread to avoid plastic bread-bags, make my own milk to avoid milk packaging, and other similar things. I guess I'm trying to BE the change as they say.
In the past I sailed a lot around NZ and the South Pacific in a little wooden boat with no motor, no electrics, and some of the sails were made of real canvas. We had huge adventures out there and I passed the time on my long night watches reciting that great poem of marine conservation - The Ancient Mariner and dreaming myself inside the heads of marine beings I encountered around me in the deep sea. These beings have since become the characters in my sea stories. I'm soon to publish my second novel Dolphin Melody and am the author of one previous novel which has done very well for a book with a $0 marketing budget and been translated into the Czech language. It is Ripple, the twenty million year old story of how love inspired one dolphin to an intellectual achievement that changed the universe.

My original field of scientific interest is land law (which in Ukraine is a combination of property law and environmental law) and the theory of law. But in recent years based mostly in my first-hand experience I developed an opinion on some of democracy's problematic issues, which I have attempted to describe in a number of my works, some of which are in English (https://www.goodreads.com/author/show...).

Wow! What diverse and interesting backgrounds y'all have!
Please check out this group's discussion threads... There are many I'm certain you'll resonate with. Do feel free to comment on any that spark your interest.

This led me to do much research which culminated in a book I recently published "Louis Pasteur Condemns Big Pharma: Vaccines, Drugs, and Healthcare in the United States."
I am looking forward to discussions with all of you regarding science, medicine, history, politics, and more.
Thank you all in advance for all the interesting things I think I will learn here!

My name is Peter Jones. I love the idea of this group and have been having fun reading through the discussions.
What seems to be lacking is a section that examines the poor scholarship, poor thinking, abundance of misinformation and general confusion that characterises mainstream academic philosophy. I hope this will become a explicit area of interest for this group at some time, and look forward to contributing on this topic. It is a academic scandal that deeply affects all of us, but it tends to slip under the radar.
My interests and expertise lie in the relationship between metaphysics, mysticism, religion and science and how they may be reconciled without doing damage to any of them.
Needless to say I have a relevant book forthcoming, but the publication date is some way off as yet.

Welcome, Peter. You make some good points.
The nearest we get to the topics you raise is probably our "Secret methods to increase IQ" discussion thread at https://www.goodreads.com/topic/group... - It was inspired by our book Genius Intelligence - book one in our Underground Knowledge Series.
Please do add your thoughts to the above or indeed any thread that catches your eye... One of our Alternative Science threads perhaps?

As you're ex-Army, I'd be interested to know your thoughts on the Ukraine and Middle East (especially Gaza) conflicts, and what you think could change for better or worse under Trump.
No compulsion. Only if you feel like it.

Looking forward to getting to know you all!

I'm Mary and I'm from Northern Ireland, U.K.
And I would like new book friends.
I'm on here daily and would like new book friends. I like to read most genres of books 📚

Recently joined Goodreads again because my primary coping mechanism for the last 4 years has been surrounding myself with books.
It’s been an enjoyable browsing experience in this group so far: so many topics! And its uncanny to see their increasing prevalence in our world nary a decade since original posting.
Bless!

PS - Not a new member but have been quite inactive lately

I enjoy exploring a variety of genres, and am always looking for compelling reads, thought-provoking themes, or simply a page-turner I can’t put down. I love hearing others perspectives, as I think discussing books can be as enriching as reading them.
I can’t wait to dive into some great books with all of you and discover new favorites.

I'm here because I feel the children's PoV is often lost. Looking forward to meeting others who like discussing these kinds of things.
Thanks for having me.

Scout, let's start one here...
Perhaps you could tell us the story behind your intriguing Goodreads profile photo? Is that you?
Welcome to the group by the way.

I hope I get beautiful reads with you guys.
Cheers to the beginning of a journey here🥂

I will probably irritate most of you and not worried about how my opinions may do so. I am a skeptic on most things. Yet, I do think esoteric subject are worthy of study. I also love a conspiracy and the crazier the better. I treat all equally and believe all opinions are important and as valid as mine whether I think they are legitimate or stupid. I treat all with respect and expect the same back.
