Viir | 1 comments Hello to everyone,

I'm Viir and just got my B.Sc. in economics. I'm probably aiming for a M.Sc. in economics (specializing in Health Care and Management) or switching my career path entirely. I'm living in Germany, and the possibilities are very large, I just don't know where to go with myself.
I love to discuss current issues and meet people with different opinions, looking at a topic from different angles is pretty nice :) Yeah..I'm excited to see what the group discusses. And I just realized I'm still clocked in at my work office (my internship is entirely home office)..wow.

Maan Alasfoor | 1 comments Hi,

I am maan and I have gone from reading to survive ( school) in 1989 to reading to expand my detailed knowledge about topics that most people would find boring to discuss such as neuroplasticity. I am looking forward to receiving my books through my secret book challenge to start reading what others find interesting.

Leonard Perlmutter | 1 comments Namaste. I'm the founder and director of The American Meditation Institute in Averill Park, NY. You can check out our website at www.americanmeditation.org . I just released the new and expanded edition of “The Heart and Science of Yoga: The American Meditation Institute’s Empowering Self-Care Program for a Happy, Healthy, Joyful Life” (https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/3...). I am also the author and editor of “Transformation,” the Journal of Meditation as Mind/Body Medicine.

I’m new to Goodreads and hope to participate in the conversation. For more detail about my background read on…

Over the past forty years, I’ve served on the faculties of the New England Institute of Ayurvedic Medicine in Boston, Massachusetts and the International Himalayan Yoga Teachers Association in Calgary, Canada. I studied in Rishikesh, India and I am a direct disciple of Swami Rama of the Himalayas––the man who, in laboratory conditions at the Menninger Institute, demonstrated that blood pressure, heart rate and the autonomic nervous system can be voluntarily controlled. These research demonstrations have been one of the major cornerstones of the mind/body movement.
I’ve presented informative workshops on the benefits of meditation and Yoga Science at the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, The Albany Medical College, The New York Times forum on Yoga Science, the Commonwealth Club of California, the University of Wisconsin School of Nursing, the Washington University Medical School, the University of Colorado Medical School and the West Point Association of Graduates. Since 2009, my Heart and Science of Yoga® empowering self-care program has been certified for continuing medical education credit by the American Medical Association and the American Nurses Association. In 2014, my 5 1/2 hour online video course, Comprehensive Meditation and Easy-Gentle Yoga, was released, which contains the core Heart and Science of Yoga® curriculum.

James | 1 comments Hello everyone. My name is James but everyone calls me Jim. I am a new member to this discussion group but have been a member of Goodreads for the past few years. I am a Librarian and am interested in a wide range of topics from Astronomy to Music to Zen Budhism. I am a big follower of Conspiracy Theories and their evidence or lack of evidence. I love history and follow progressive political movements. Where science and mysticism converge is a topic that also fascinates me. The concept of Time it's measurement, interpretation and origin also is a favorite topic of mine.

One of my life long reading goals is to read books at least somewhat in chronological order from the post Crucifixion of Christ years to the current era and try to unravel the origins of the divinity of Christ as well as the emergence of Western Civilization from the collapse of the Roman Empire to the present day. However, I seem to be fixated in the 6th to 8th centuries, and have been reading books about that time period for the past several years. Seeing how such a great empire as Rome could disintegrate into a period known as the Dark Ages while the Muslim World flourished in science Technology AND the arts amazes me.

I joined this group to try and gain some insight into these topics and others which I hope will continue to expand my knowledge base and provide me with the possibility of some future book reading suggestions.

Im Dhruv . i recently graduated and got into the "REAL WORLD" (as they say it). I was educated and trained(STEM) all my life so that i can make myself a good amount of Money and lead a good life , but labouring so hard for this Money i stared reading about it. I developed an interest in economics ( classical & local) and was shocked by the reality.<< DEBT IS SLAVERY>>,<< BANKERS RULE THE WORLD>>(refer- fractional reserve system, quantitative easing ( Read: creature from the jeykill island ), also please research on how many of FIAT currency retained its value over time ). economy is going to run till people are going to spend money they don't have to buy things they don't require.
I think that internet is a boon for the human society and we should use it and make the most of it whilst it is FREE . i want to read more books about sustainability , local economy , ecology , which could help us to live a beautiful life.

Roseanne Wilkins | 2 comments I discovered this group while reading Underground Bases by James & Lance Morcan. I'm currently writing a novel referencing DUMBS. I'm familiar with Graham Hancock and Zechariah Sitchin, as well as the discoveries of Nikolai Tesla. I'm interested in a wide variety of topics, including the Flat Earth Theory and the Mandela Effect. I've also studied information on giants. I believe the Twin Towers was an inside job, and am suspicious Sandy Hook was the same. There were too many inconsistencies compared to other similar events. I've watched the confession of Stanley Kubrick on the filming of the moon landings as well as several episodes of Jesse Ventura's Conspiracy show. I think there is an awful lot out there most people aren't aware of, and I'm looking forward to following the discussions here.

PARESH AJMERA (pareshpajmera) | 1 comments Hi Everybody,
I am Paresh from India. I am glad to join this group. I have been invited by James Morcan.
The best thing about this group that attracted me is "No rules for now. Do as you wish." A truly democratic group which helps in developing one's human identity in a democratic manner marked by open discussions and debates.
I am author of
Life of Social Animals and my vision is to generalize human identity across all religions, cultures, countries, communities, social groups, colors, etc. This is only for your own benefits and advantages and to make you feel a true global citizen with responsibilities and enjoyment.
The world and its people today are subjected to a lot of institutional fear to prove themselves. These institutions are in the form of religious institutions, national institutions, cultural institutions, professional institutions, etc. Our identity is often buried under the pressure of any success driven society. In order to realize continuous happiness of relationships, professions, and materialism despite such pressures, I have devised six premises to evolve your own detachment-attachment ideology in life.
My book has been listed on amazon.com as a psychological thriller. Anyone interested can discuss with me its contents on an individual level by sending me a friendship request.
You will get to know more about me, my views about others' views in this group as we proceed with discussions on various threads.
Bye till then.

Antwan | 1 comments Hi here. Relatively new here as far as activity is concerned. I have read many books on topics of yoga, spirituality, science, history, social justice. I would like to see progress in the world in the direction of peace, health and prosperity for all. Making that a collective goal to be attained, will take changing what is PoPular in society. Because popular things attract a lot of interest. So in the interest of the populace, we the living, growing, changing culture are co-conspiring to co-create fate. please friend me if you think I may be interested in reading your reviews on some of these topics or others similar. thanks

I am Adrian Ferrer, and I am willing to share the knowledge I have gained over many years studying religion.

I am not a preacher, nor do I intend to convert anyone. But like so many of you, I have discovered that what you tell us, officially, is not the whole truth, and sometimes it is even a lie.

Cheers.

Hamilton Carter Hi! I'm a fan of UFO and hidden physics conspiracy theories. I got into these as a kid reading The Roswell Incident and The Philadelphia Experiment. I'm not horribly concerned with the accuracy of the inferences made in these books. Instead, I loved/love the accurate historical bits of perhaps unconnected knowledge delivered by the texts. I'm working on my own book about the links between the fringe and mainstream physics of general relativity from the turn of the 20th century to today. It involves fighter pilots, wealthy industrialists, spies masquerading as journalists, and of course a good smattering of physicists.

Dr. Lance Moore is author of seven nationally-published books; six-time contributor to the Abingdon Preaching Annual; repeat panelist on Hallmark Channel’s “Naomi's New Morning” (Naomi Judd’s television talkshow); contributor to various magazines/journals. Jen from Quebec :0) (muppetbaby99) | 13 comments I stumbled across this group due to the fact that I am an educated, geeky Anglophone living in a French world. I am Jen from Quebec :0) I teach high school and read. Mostly read. Also, write. But, not for a living or anything. Just for fun.
This seemed like a good place to look at/help me to understand the American election which has been dominating Canadian media for at least TWO YEARS now, and gets increasingly alarming and confusing from my television-well-internet, soaked goggles.
Also, I like to join discussions at weird times of the day and night, so I enjoy a thread that has multiple time-zones' worth of members.

P.K. Davies Greetings all. I am here because James kindly invited me. Among all the creditations and scholarship listed here I feel a bit like a party-pooper. I'm not naturally into conspiracy. My modus operendi is to try to see things in an uncomplicated way as is possible and my journalistic experience makes me radically critical and questioning. So, perhaps that will be my role here; to question. But there seems to be a lot of stuff out there that is going to challenge me. Keep it coming.

Hi PK
Always good to welcome a fellow journo. There's a few of us in this group.
As a (former) journo my experience makes me critical and questioning as well -- especially with regards to the subjectivity and reliability of the media. I'd be interested to get your opinions on the topics raised in our 'The price of a free media' thread at https://www.goodreads.com/topic/group...

message 674: by P.K. (new)

P.K. Davies Thanks Lance. I am tasting some of that input, but I have a lot of catching-up to do. I think somewhere it was mentioned that the new media is the blogs on the internet. It's really the same as the official media; some facts, a lot of opinions but there is more of it and no control. At least, with a little knowledge, we knew the tenor of the old press, now we don't know a thing about the protagonists on the fake news outlets, just what they want us to think. It's a dangerous world. I am reminded of one clever politician who said, 'Never ask the voters what they think. They may do it'.

message 675: by Jason (new)

Jason Makansi My thanks to the organizers for allowing the opportunity to post.

I am interested in collaborating and interacting with readers in the resistance against the post-fact world we seem to live in.

My fourth book of non-fiction may be one this group might engage with...Painting By Numbers: How to Sharpen Your BS Detector and Smoke Out the Experts. The mission is to put in every citizen's hands, regardless of math or science training or experience, the ability to assess a reported numerical result for validity and relevance.

This is the description at Amazon:

BETTER NUMERICAL LITERACY ISN'T JUST DESIRABLE; IT'S ESSENTIAL TO SUSTAINING A CIVIL, DEMOCRATIC, AND FREE SOCIETY In the public sphere, numbers are supposed to be more solid than words, less subjective. They are not. "The numbers don't lie," say experts. Yet they very often do. Numerical results are used to further the political, business, academic, and personal objectives of those who wield them. In PAINTING BY NUMBERS, you get wisdom, humor, and twelve commandments anyone can apply to separate numerical BS from valid results. It will raise your numerical literacy, and that of your friends, family, colleagues, and students. Even PhDs have called PAINTING BY NUMBERS a "refreshing refresher," and "something every literate person needs to understand." Given polling controversies in the recent election, vociferous debate over climate change, economic meltdowns caused by bogus and fraudulent financial models, medical and health trends driven by dubious results from trials, even sports now managed by "numbers guys," better numerical literacy isn't just desirable; it's essential to sustaining a civil, democratic, and free society.

I'd prefer anyone interested in ordering purchase from an independent bookstore...

http://www.indiebound.org/book/978099...

But it's available from the big dog too:

Shoeb Ali | 1 comments Hi everyone,
I am Shoeb from India. I am a software developer who is not an avid book reader(I hope it won't make me an outcast here) but surely I love to read meaningful discussions on Quora.

I started reading Quora in 2012 and got addicted to it. I really have learnt a lot from Quora and It has really helped me in becoming a better person both personally and professionally.

I read Quora so much that it caused dryness in my eyes and had to look for better ways to read digital content. So finally I came across Amazon Kindle and found it perfect device for my needs. But there was still a gap between Quora and Kindle. There is no Quora app available on Kindle and the browser in kindle is very basic and is too painful to browse. So as a developer I decided to fill this gap and developed an app for myself to send my favourite Quora answers in bulk to Kindle with minimal effort and time.

I have decided to share this app with other people who also love both Quora and Kindle. You can checkout the app here:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07...

Qurush is a search engine and offline browser developed exclusively for reading Quora answers offline.

The ability to read Quora answers offline liberates you from the unstable Internet connectivity. You can also extract all images from answers in a single click.

Bradley West (bradleywest) I'm Bradley (Brad) West, a conspiracy and espionage novelist and blogger (www.bradleywest.net) based in Singapore. My interest in Asia-based conspiracies and unsolved mysteries goes back more than three decades when I first arrived in Asia.

My first book Sea of Lies (2016) is a fictionalized account of a large number of conspiracies/mysteries with the MH370 hijacking as the centerpiece and Stuxnet, US-China military showdown in the Western Pacific (Senkaku Islands), Khun Sa and the Golden Triangle, Edward Snowden and Iran's nuclear weapons ambitions each receiving ample air-time. Needless to say, it's a complicated book that appeals to detail-oriented readers that like exotic locales, sex and violence alongside an atypical anti-hero who is a soon-to-retire CIA cryptanalyst.

I took the leftover personal list of fascinating unsolved questions in Asia and wrote Pack of Lies (2017, later) about a corrupt Malaysia prime minister, Osama bin Laden's missing years in Pakistan, Iran's quest for nuclear weapons (part II), and MH370's disappearance (II). "POL" features the same cast as "SOL," but you can read them in either order.

* * * * *

Even though I write fiction, I'm deeply interested in conspiracies (stopping short of UFOs and similar) as I have an abiding distrust of government press releases, blue chip commissions and piecemeal dissemination of information. MH370 is a classic example: missing for three years, crashed into the Indian Ocean, but nothing found in a $250m+ search . . . except by volunteers or tourists in Africa. There's plenty of information that should be in the public domain where volunteers from the aviation and scientific communities can actually unravel the mysteries.

"None of us is smarter than all of us."

message 681: by Asli (last edited Jun 09, 2017 05:00PM) (new)

Asli Theobald | 21 comments Dear open minded members of this group,

I am a Turkish investigative journalist who has recently become a U.S. citizen. I just created my GoodReads profile today. I am so happy to have found this group, I feel I have a ton of information to contribute to this group and so much to learn from it.

I've been having difficulty raising awareness to the mind-blowing corruption of psychiatric pharmaceutical practices (utterly mind blowing). Millions of children's lives are being ruined by medications such as ADHD drugs which only seem to provide benefits for about two years and then stop working despite increasing dosages, destroying lives in the long-term. These drugs do not normalize anyone's brain chemistry and have been marketed as "safe" in the absence of legitimate long-term studies. I am looking for people who will not automatically discount the way I have backed up the results of my investigations with 550 instantly clickable electronic references in this ebook (currently promoted for FREE ): "https://www.amazon.com/LONG-TERM-EFFE..." Antidepressants are another class of drugs whose supposed benefits do not justify their long-term harm, I have documented my case with so much hard evidence nobody is bothering to look at, (this is my frist publication in English) I am so disgusted and frustrated by the way few people have so far believed this is not a conspiracy theory. I have gotten so many Reddit comments similar to "I believe only doctors and medical experts" that I changed the book's name to "Does Your doctor Know This?" But people then tell me that the FDA would not have allowed the public to get defrauded to the extent I claim. This is sad, when anyone who wishes to can verify right away how thoroughly compromised the FDA also happens to be here: http://adhddrugslongterm.com/fda-corr...

Currently, drug-promoting ADHD books written by drug company paid influential experts like Dr. Edward Hallowell (I have document how blatantly he lies for his own self-gain) show up as bestsellers for ADHD, continuing to cause countless parents and teachers to believe that the addictive Schedule II stimulants prescribed for ADHD can safely create better students and subdue unwanted childhood behaviors. I am asking this community' to help countless parents and other adults begin to make well-informed decisions based on facts instead of the misinformation serving increase the profits of the pharmaceutical industry. About a hundred honest reviews can make this happen, I thank anyone who may take the time to download and review my ebook at no cost to them here: https://www.amazon.com/LONG-TERM-EFFE...
Thanks again,
Asli Theobald, M.S.
PS: Ask me any question you'd like, I have been investigating this subject day and night for 3 years.

Angelo Marcos (angelomarcos) | 2 comments Hi everyone, I’m Angelo.

Cue a chorus of ‘Hi Angelo’…

Like a few other people here, I’ve been a member of Goodreads for a while now but have only just joined this group.

I am absolutely fascinated by unexplained phenomena and mysteries, and have written a number of posts on my blog about things like parasomnia, the disappearance of Brandon Swanson, the death of Elisa Lam, and automatism (specifically, people committing crimes in their sleep and having no knowledge of them the next day). I have a strong interest and background in psychology and so a lot of my focus is around psychological conditions and disorders which may cause seemingly paranormal events (such as sleep paralysis for instance). The books I write are very much along these lines too – psychological thrillers.

I’m not going to link to my website here as I’m not sure I’m allowed to, but if you take a look at my Goodreads profile you can find it there.

So, nice to meet you all, and I look forward to some interesting discussions!

Lance Morcan | 3058 comments Hi – I’m preparing to publish my eighth novel co-written with my son James Morcan. Our seven co-authored novels to date include Into the Americas, The Ninth Orphan and White Spirit.

We seek an unlimited number of Beta Readers for Silent Fear (A novel inspired by true crimes) – a multi-genre crime, thriller, mystery, horror (with shades of sci-fi). It is set in the world of the Deaf community. The book also has elements of "underground knowledge" including a Satanic cult sub-plot and explorations into theories which state some virus pandemics could be man-made (either accidentally or purposefully man-made).

We are also screenwriters and filmmakers and have put SILENT FEAR into early development as a feature film through our production company Morcan Motion Pictures.
There's also a Silent Fear film trailer you can watch: https://www.goodreads.com/videos/1136...

For full details of what we require and what we are offering in return, please see my new entry in this group’s reading section here: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

Many thanks!

I just released my first book, Blackout: My 40 Years In The Music Business. "Blackout" is a chronicle of my successes and failures, my dreams and disappointments in the music business. It’s filled with the secrets the music industry desperately tries to keep, the stories no one tells. I wanted to expose the truth about the industry I love. I've testified on Capitol Hill, been a frequent guest on cable news, and more importantly, I'm a advocate for a free press, and spend most of my time listening to the voices that are seldom heard in the mainstream media.

Lately I’ve become very interested in history which the most recent newbie Kylie mentioned, but I’ve had difficulty anymore believing much of what I hear or read. This has caused me to be even more curious about our past. I've come to suspect that most sources of information in our world, including fictional/entertainment, are from people who are more interested in pushing an agenda rather than exposing reality. Anyway, I’m an engineer in the working world, and novelist on the side.

Concerning many of my beliefs, I’ve grown tired of explaining to people what I think, so I made the following summary. http://anxietypub.com/understanding-y...

I enjoyed one reviewer's comments... "The author is transparent in the account of her near death experience. The images and events of her trip into the eternal realm are truly awesome. Ariela intersperses widely encompassing scenes with divine interpretation received while experiencing them."

Do feel free to share your experience with your fellow Undergrounders in the appropriate discussion thread.

Yes, of course, Lance...isn't that why we're here? I will also include excerpts from some of the chapters. Indeed, life after life is the most amazing 'underground' of all!

She'll do anything to unearth the secrets.
They'll stop at nothing to silence her.

Hundreds of years after WWIII, Smithsonian archeologist Roslin Williams has uncovered an old Air Force One plane containing human remains. It is the greatest historical discovery of her lifetime, one that raises more questions than answers. Roslin is determined to dig up any information about the plane that she can and unravel the secrets behind it.

However, the dangerous powers behind this age-old scandal have plans of their own. Keeping facts buried is their number one priority and Roslin is getting in their way. With an assassin closing in to silence her once and for all, Roslin teams up with Special Agent Mark Appleton to unravel this ancient conspiracy. But with time running out, will they unearth the truth before they're the next buried fatalities?
