Thanks Kevin. Our "Alternative thinking books " thread may be more appropriate for your book than this introductory thread, but best of luck with it!

Tracey (traceypb) Hello My name is Tracey, I live in East Yorkshire northern UK. I'm interested in all things non mainstream (Tin foil hat ? Oh yes!)
Looks like some great discussion here so I will have a good read through the threads and get a gauge on things.

Lex (goodlex) | 1 comments Hey, my name is Lex and this is my first time joining a book group. Nonetheless, I was particularly interested in the topics this group seems to touch. I look forward to expanding my knowledge with the range of books you guys choose here to read. I don't know how this works, so yes what book are we currently reading? I enjoy reading history as well as topics that relate to the social sciences. Overall, I believe have a very deep understanding of how the world functions but I am never tired of learning more about it.

message 607: by Danielle (new)

Danielle (dasd) | 1 comments Hello, I am new to both goodreads and to this group. I am excited to dive into this site and expand my reading. I am a huge fan of dystopian novels and Americana History as well as general History. One of my favorite underground history books is the People's History of the United States, one that I own and flip through to do random chapter readings at will. I am also a voracious current events reader, looking into uncommon sources. A progressive at heart and always open to others point of view especially if their past has brought them to vastly different life conclusions than my own. It is extremely exciting to be exposed to some new trains of thought and the underground resources to support them.

Jennifer (wyllowwynd) | 3 comments Hi all! Happy to find this group and dig into the theories and thoughts of all of you. I am almost ashamed this year to admit I am an American but there you are. I am a Radiologic Technologist by day and avid reader, history buff, and knowledge seeker by night. I have been raising my four sons, two of which are "grown ups" to think for themselves and question the information you receive from any source! I look forward to bouncing thoughts and ideas off of all of you and always to increase my knowledge of truth!

Heather (thechaptercollager) Hey everyone, my name is Heather.
I was instantly curious about your group when I saw what you all talked about/discussed and read. I have an open mind and I am always looking for new ideas and to trade ideas, theories, and opinions on any and all topics. I think it is important to be able to talk about ideas with others and have a mutual respect for all opinions involved. I can't wait to get started in discussions and meet new people :)

Hafiz Saleem (myalibaba) | 1 comments Hello, folks,
I am Saleem and I am an avid Kindle and Audible user. My long daily commute allows me ample time to get lost into a variety of subjects. The books that are on my list include Booker prize literary fiction. Also included are the books on space and cosmos, memorization, leadership, human productivity, and the books on numbers. I am very fortunate to be part of this select group of people, and I look forward to learn from the contributions of its members.

message 615: by RADFORD (new)

RADFORD C | 1 comments I have joined this group about 15 minutes ago before writing this. My name is Taff E Wailes and I live in the UK. My interests are very diverse and my reading eclectic covering a wide range of topics. To give you some sort of idea about what I mean by the former sentence I thought it might be useful if I list the books i have read so far in 2017, what I am reading at the moment and what I intend reading over the next 3/6 months or so.

(1) Just finished : (i) 'The Art of War' - Sun Tzu (ii) 'The Golden Ratio : The mathematical language of beauty' - Fernando Corbalan.
(2) Reading at present : (i) 'Collected Essays' - George Orwell (ii) Decisions of the First Tier Tribunal - Tax Chamber (part of Her Majesty's Court's and Tribunal Service) (iii) 'The Trial' - Franz Kafka (iv) Selected Poems' - S T Coleridge
(3) Intend to read during next 3 months : (i) 'The Happiness Index' - New Economics Foundation (ii) 'Elements' - Euclid (iii) 'Songs of Innocence' and 'Songs of Experience' - William Blake (iv) 'Welfare Benefits and Tax Credits 2017/18' - Child Poverty Action Group (v) 'Politics of Ecstasy' - Timothy Leary (vi) 'Jude The Obscure' - Thomas Hardy (vii) 'Yes Minister' and 'Yes Prime Minister' - Transcripts (viii) 'Economics and the Historian' - T Rawson (ix) 'To Have or to Be' - Erich Fromm (x) Grimm's Fairy Tales (xi) 'The Condition of the English Working Class in 1846' - F Engels (xii) 'Wasteland', 'Ash Wednesday' and 'Four Quartets' - T S Eliot.

I doubt if I will fit all the above in the three months and will most probably take the six! A factor that will contribute to taking all the time I have allocated is that hardly a week goes by without me adding yet another piece of writing, that I want to read, to my "wishlist'.

The 12 above are those which are either recent texts that are in my Must Read Category [MRC] or have been promoted from my Intend to Read Category. [IRC]. Just to add there is a third Category which is Like to Read. [LRC].

I have used the Must.....Intend.....Like approach for more than 40 years and apply it to many activities. I am now in my early sixties and every year, month, week and even every day reminds me of something I realised many decades ago; it is actually a truism but certainly not a platitude and is simply the fact that the more I know the more I realise how little I know. (I am sure many reading this will have spotted the tangential allusion to one of the most famous - or should that be infamous-poems in English literature. Answers should be sent on a postcard. All the correct entries will be put in a prize draw. The postcard drawn will win a copy of Dostoyevsky's 'Brother Karamazov' and it will be in the original Russian.*

I began reading at a very early age and it has been one of my two passions in life. (the other is music but that interest did not begin until I was twelve years of age which was about nine years after my literature habit commenced.

My latest venture is to take a Master' s degree in Creative Writing. The week after next i am due to a five day residential school. It is something I have been looking forward to for months. I will report back on this site on how it goes.

*Terms and Conditions apply. The winner will be expected to deliver a series of lectures to under graduates with the subject title 'The utilisation of advanced statistical methodological techniques to the critical understanding of literature. There will be a specific need to focus on the inter disciplinary research models that aim to generate synergies from the cross fertilisation of qualitative and quantitative processes available.

message 616: by Vincent (new)

Vincent Hi My name is Vincent. I read ... a lot and widely both fiction and non fiction.

Leaving aside all the different genres of fiction, I read across disciplines (law, economics, history, politics, sociology, botany, psychology, philosophy, and a lot more).

To me everything is interconnected and often I come across stuff that is interesting through serendipity. Either while looking for something on a specific topic and getting side track by other things found in the vicinity of what I am looking for (both online and on library or bookstore shelves, especially second-hand bookstores). Other times it is through the references and bibliographies of material I am reading.
I thought this group sounds interesting so I decided to join. I hope I can discover interesting things through you all as well as share discoveries with you all.
Thanks

message 617: by Addie (new)

Addie Abbati | 3 comments Hi, my name is Addie Abbati (actually it's a pen name). I am an attorney and an author, with a few business degrees. I am not really a conspiracy person in the traditional sense (whatever that means).

But I am interested in how things work, such as the dynamics of the types of power and how they are used. I also enjoy researching matters that make me wonder.

My favorite part of the library to be in is the dusty section that contains the old law books. I love digging into these.

Over the last many years, I have developed my own economic theory. I don't know if it's original and I'm not an economist. But I'd really like to share the idea with as many people as possible, so I created a fiction work that encompasses the theory.

I don't know whether we are allowed to advertise books on this forum or not. And, I know that Goodreads members in general frown up on that. But I am really trying to figure out how to define and reach people who would be interested. So, in lieu of advertising the book, if anyone would like to help me with some suggestions for how to get the word out, I would be most appreciative.

Now, on another note, someday I would like to write a novel about an ancestor of mine who was a counsel to a governor and who died in what appears to be a mysterious way. Supposedly, he killed himself, but I believe that it may have been a politically motivated murder. There were a lot of suspicious things going on at the time, and there was a lot of corruption in politics. Further, the individual was one of many who died in the first six months of a governor's term. One was deemed a suicide but he was left- handed but managed to shoot himself in his right temple.

Anyway, I'd be happy to hear from others. :)

Jettie Woodruff | 1 comments Hey, everyone. I'm new to the group, and being awake...
Before that, I was doing very well as a dark, erotic author. I have written one book since then, and it shocked a lot of people. Even me.
Peace, Love, Resistance is the title, so that tells you where my writing went. It's a little bold and in your face, but in my defense, I was newly waking up, still in the conspiracy stage where I had to go research everything that I suddenly knew to be a lie. But, I am still a romance writer. I love writing about love, but now I'm going to do it in away that helps raise the vibration of this planet.
I have free ebooks for anyone in here that wants to read it in exchange for a review. I'm supposed to be working on the second one, but my mind keeps jumping around to other things. I have five books opened right now.
Sigh...
Anyway, this is me, finding the others.
This is the book on Amazon if you want to read it,
https://www.amazon.com/Peace-Love-Res...
just hit me up here on FB and I will get your Kindle email.

Michelle Willms (michellewillms) | 1 comments Hi, I'm sorry to be so late introducing myself. I'm a sociologist and avid reader. I'm fascinated by theories of all natures, and have always believed that I should never, ever, in any case take the word of the MSM. I should always research and try to find the truth myself. I worked as a journalist as a while, and what I found consistently was that people I interviewed who had worked with the media before were always surprised when I didn't misquote them, never used words out of context, and tried my very best to always report both both sides of every story in an unbiased manner. That's what the media is SUPPOSED to do. It's failed to do that for as long as major corporations have owned the media (and truthfully, as long as anyone could be bought). Thank you for creating such a compelling group.

Josh Hedge | 1 comments Hey guys.

Hope you're all well..

I got passed onto goodreads by a friend who recommended I come on here and meet some like minded people, especially being an author myself!

My book Seeds For Truth can be viewed at www.seedsfortruth.com

And heres a little about myself for the meantime! Look forward to connecting with you :)

Josh Hedge is currently 24 years old, a self-taught photographer, life admirer, and now author living in his much loved town of Byron Bay, Australia.

At the age of 19, being without a job at the time and having struggled with depression for numerous years throughout his late teens, he bought his first camera, an old DSLR off of a friend, instantly discovering a passion for photography and having the ability to finally express himself, he started sharing his perspective of the world through images with others online.

Because of the inspirational and experimental nature of his work though both digital and analogue formats, he began receiving a lot of positive feedback that resulted in the gain of many new fans. What started off as a simple hobby that was used for Josh to break through his wall of depression, eventually turned into a great experience to do what he loves for a living.

Many opportunities were taken with open arms since: traveling overseas and across Australia for work, to shoot covers of magazines, editorials, album covers, solo exhibitions, joint exhibitions, meeting people he’s looked up to his whole life and connecting with companies he’d never thought of even being in the same room with; let alone collaborating with them. A free-spirit that loves to inspire others by exploring new places and being grateful for every aspect life has to offer.

Although, ever since Josh was young, he had a very strong intuitive feeling that something wasn’t right in regards to the current systems that our societies are run by and how we are told to live within such societies. The governments, health industry, workforce, and just about everything didn’t make sense to him. It was almost like the world was back to front… and it really is!

After meeting like-minded people, having surreal experiences of synchronicity and endless amount of research, Josh had the idea to start writing about his discoveries that seemed to go hand in hand perfectly with his lifelong beliefs.

Only two months after his first thought of writing a book, ‘Seeds For Truth’ was complete, the goal being to reveal both the truth of what is going on, why it’s happening, with an intent of empowering humans in realizing their fullest potential that will hopefully blossom into an awakening for people.

The combination of inspiring knowledge with Josh’s personal collection of emotive visual images is destined to invoke a perception shift in many people. Josh is honored to help serve humanity, as he always felt there was something inside of him wanting to give back on a much larger scale, his true purpose had remained a mystery to him, until now, with a second book already underway.

To contact Josh email joshhedgephotography@gmail.com or to follow him on a frequent basis his instagram is @joshhedge as well as his personal photography page being www.joshhedge.com

My name is Tammy, but I usually go by the name Portia. I am 46 years old and currently live in Los Angeles. I got involved in the Occupy Movement a few years back and that opened my eyes up to a lot of what was happening with the elite and how they tend to run this country. Ever since that time I enjoy reading different things on conspiracies.

Ian Boucher | 1 comments Hello Everyone,

I'm looking forward to productive conversations here. My name is Ian Boucher. I'm a librarian and the editor of Sequart's "Humans and Paragons: Essays on Super-Hero Justice," an anthology by writers from around the world exploring the connections between the justice we tell each other about through super-hero stories, and the justice we actually practice in the real world. This is a topic I'm very passionate about. If anyone would want more information, has interest in reviewing it, or would like to talk about issues in justice, don't hesitate to let me know.

I have interest in books of many genres, but I tend to gravitate toward science fiction and satire.

message 635: by Wayne (new)

Wayne Materi I write sci-fi under the pen name, Paul Anlee. I've been immersed in science and technology for decades. Following successful careers in computer programming, molecular biology, nanotechnology, systems biology, and synthetic biology, I've shifted my focus to a lifelong passion: credible and compelling science fiction. In the Deplosion series, I put a contemporary twist on classic sci-fi themes, seamlessly weaving scientific expertise with theoretical speculation and insightful social commentary.
I am also an active commentator on a number of Facebook pages, including "Science, Philosophy, History, and Theology Discussion." You guys sound like an interesting group and I think we'll have some wonderful discussions.

I enjoy all kinds of sci-fi but lean toward the "hard" subgenre a little more, people like Alastair Reynolds, Bear, Brin, Benford, John C. Wright, Peter F. Hamilton. I also enjoy non-fiction, mainly science and finance/economics.

For anyone interested in something with a mix of controversial science, religion, and politics, my first book “The Reality Thief” is about to be released.

Darian Leigh was an accident, a brilliant accident with a lattice-augmented brain. When he invents the Reality Assertion Field generator, a device that can alter the universal laws of physics, he sets ablaze the worlds of science, religion, and politics. Will Darian’s invention be a magnanimous gift to humanity or will it bring about its demise? Mired in conspiracy, betrayal, and murder, the struggle will rage for eons...

In the far future, a self-appointed Living God uses the device to unleash His Divine Plan on an unsuspecting Realm. His diabolical scheme? To collapse all of creation and remake it in His personal image of heaven. When a Cybrid rebel and an enigmatic traveler from beyond the edge of the universe stumble onto His plan, they must stand against Him or be consumed along with the rest of reality. What would you be willing to sacrifice to ensure the survival of the universe? What if it meant giving up paradise?

A supra-natural, hard sci-fi technothriller. If you love intergalactic intrigue and paradigm-shifting ideas, the Deplosion series is for you.

Here’s the link to the Goodreads page: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/3...

As a new author, I’m always interested in exchanging a free copy of the book for a review. Email me at: paul.anlee.author@gmail.com or message me on Goodreads, if you’re interested.

Adam Skorupskas | 2 comments Hello, my name is Adam. I'm a big time reader and small time writer. Big fan of underground knowledge. With everything going on in the world, I got a strange idea for a project that I thought some of you would be interested in. To me, the saddest part about this era is how everyone is so locked into the media. It's like Invasion Of The Body Snatchers. My brother and I try to combat this by focusing on making our own strange little world as good as possible. It seems like a good way to combat all the malicious forces out there. Here is an honest documentation of our efforts so far. https://medium.com/@ajskorupskas/thro...

I enjoy books that impart an idea, concept, experience, or message about how life can change a person, for better or for worse. This has led to many adventures but most notable are my expeditions into the Amazon to a 'lost city of giants' as reported on in international press, and my invitation to be a guest presenter on the Science Channel show 'The Unexplained Files' (ep Giants of Georgia).

I have just published a book on human evolution, 'The Forgotten Exodus: The Into Africa Theory of Human Evolution' which includes a foreword by the acclaimed author, Graham Hancock. The intention if to fully displace the current Out of Africa Theory based scientific paradigm. Wish me luck.

Am looking forward to reading The Forgotten Exodus: The Into Africa Theory of Human Evolution.
Getting a foreword by Graham Hancock is one hell of an endorsement for your book and your overall research!

You can probably imagine that he does not offer these kinds of endorsements often, I think he has provided forewords to maybe four books in two decades. I am honored that he recognized the value of my research and agrees that it may merit the overthrow of the current paradigm.

It would be great to discuss the content in your group with anybody so interested.

Many thanks
