Joni Dee | 12 comments Hi guys,

I joined as i was invited. thank you for that!

My name is Jonathan, i work in Finance in the city of London, and among other things I’m an aspiring author of thriller.
Haven’t done anything with it for a while, except reviewing other people’s books :-) and now finally completed my book (which is a conspiracy based spy/political thriller).

Anyways, that’s how i found and joined Goodreads. I don't want to push a book on my first post here, i'll just add that is currently crowdfunding on Inkshares (but will defo publish as we hit 1st target of 250 orders) & if anyone is interested to read a 50 page preview - send me a message please!

I am married, two small children and in daily life - when have a second to myself - very interested in knowledge, underground theories and conspiracy theories. I hold a BA in international relations (political science) & a MBA, I had served in the army in a very classified intelligence branch where i first learned that not everything is as it seems to the 'normal' people (discharged rank Sgt. Major)

Hope to contribute, and hope that anyone here may be interested in previewing my book.
Many thanks for the invite,
Jon

Michael Burton | 2 comments Hello,

My Name is Michael Burton, and I have been with the group for the last several months, but I'm finally getting around to introduce myself. I'm the author of the legal thriller series, Croker Diaries and a stand alone, Unforeseen Justice.

I have participated in several debates, so far, and I have to say they are very engaging. The group has wonderful topics that really makes you think about topics that are often overlooked.

L.R. Hughes | 2 comments Hello Everyone,

I'm a pursuer of mainstream as well as underground knowledge. As stated in the founders' introductory editorial, I agree that unfamiliar hypotheses find a wider audience when meshed with entertainment. That is what I attempt to do in my own writing as well.

I look forward to interacting with the group and discovering new facts beyond the surface.

Regards,
L.R.

Elline Pelline Hi!
I am a 17 y.o Norwegian girl who is interested in discussing supernatural and mysterious questions. I love conpiracy theories, no matter how stupid they might be. Please feel free to send me a message if you want to discuss anything. It can be Dan Brown (!!!), anything of historical matter, if Hogwarts really exists and much more. Mary Celeste? Doctor Who? Do you know any good ghost stories! I love good ghost stories! I hope to hear from you :)

Hello Everyone,

I have the (perhaps misfortune) of being a fact-searcher and data-diver. I have a particular affinity for numbers that speak to me, and for finding the inconsistency between what people say and the numbers behind what they say.

I’m not sure if this group is a good fit for me, though I’m interested in many of the topics I see. Frustrated by the political double-talk from all of the candidates, I’ve taken on the task of seeing what history and the data say about their promises, and have often been surprised by the inconsistencies.

I’ve bundled together a group of these myths and misconceptions into Side Effects: What Candidates Don't Tell You.
Side Effects What Candidates Don't Tell You by Tomas Payne

The book is currently participating in a giveaway if you’re interested and is expected to be released in July.

Here is the giveaway link: https://www.goodreads.com/giveaway/sh....

John Triptych | 19 comments Ive been making replies to this group and I havent even introduced myself! Here goes.

Hello, I'm John. I'm an indie author and semi-retired expat (if I sell more books then I can definitely say fully retired soon!) living in the 3rd world.

I have very varied interests, from world mythology (currently writing a sci-fi series about it) to space sciences, ancient history and just about everything else. I'm an atheist and I can say my political views are pretty much libertarian (small government, minimal taxes/entitlements, military neutrality, free markets/thoughts/opinions, with a focus on uplifting the individual over the state).

When it comes to conspiracies like cryptids, UFOs and all that I am rather skeptical, which is to say I'm really a believer in facts over speculation.

I've made some replies in some topics and I must say that this is a very interesting group. Thanks for having me.

Thanks John...and thanks for your contributions to the group.

I enjoyed your advice (on your homepage) about how writers should deal with writer's block...so for other writers out there I've taken the liberty of posting it here:

"Commit to writing regardless of how you feel. Set a time to yourself and don't get off that chair until you've written at least 2000 words."

I'm a member of Dealey Plaza U.K. & write articles for the Dealey Plaza Echo, the groups mag. I'm also in a large e-mail group with many published authors, mainly in U.S. (e.g. Fetzer, Salandria, Nelson, Moore, Marrs, Rivera) I notice a few discussion topics here that I should find interesting. My name is Nero Calatrava, and I have just written a book about the greatest conspiracy in history - the plot to convince everyone that there is only one god, when there are really many. It's a true story, and recounts how I discovered a secret group of Baal worshippers in Syria earlier this year. It's called CHILDREN OF BAAL and will be out on 15 July. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Children-Baa...

Robert Stout (mexicoconamor) Virtually everything of political importance in Mexico, where I live and work as a freelance journalist, is underground, murked over by intentional misinformation and fantasy investigations of assassinations. I cover some of these in a recent book of mine, Hidden Dangers from Sunbury Press. Diego Ororno in La Guerra de los Zetas has some pertinent uncoverings through interviews, as does Ana Lilia Perez in Camisas Azules.

message 480: by Tony (new)

Tony Sunderland | 328 comments Hi , I am a relatively new writer to this genre. I believe that the search for truth is the most important quest we can take in our life's journey . My publisher has suggested that I make contact with like minded people in the hope that my book ' The Obelisk and the Cross' can contribute something meaningful to this quest.
I believe that The early history of Western civilisation continues to inspire within us a sense of mystery and also the
promise that everything is in some way connected to
something larger than ourselves. This history is both
layered and complex.
I also believe that Many alternative explanations
of how ‘things came to be’ in the Western world have
either been ignored or suppressed by dominate and
overpowering narratives of what can be termed as
consensus history.
However, I recognise that 'the western way' also provides access to the best parts of the human condition. It is our ability to reflect and evaluate our actions that make western culture unique.
In Western society, the tension between the path
of the hero and the way of the saint has resulted in
both great achievements and horrible suffering for
humanity. The hero finds meaning in the personal
struggle of life. Meaning is personal and is formed
through participation in one’s fate to the best of one’s
ability. The saint succumbs to the presence of a divine
power. Meaning, for the saint, is found through a sacred relationship with the other. When combined
in the form of a saintly hero, the best aspirations of
humanity can permeate society through social justice,
art, philosophy and tolerance. An absence – or a
deluded construction such as Nazism – of saint and
hero may give rise to totalitarianism and the subsequent
horrors that the worst aspect of human nature can inflict.

Michael Neff (michaelbneff) | 1 comments Joined GR soon as my novel (ALL THE DARK WE WILL NOT SEE), written to expose the inner workings of the most corrupt regime in American history, was published by SHB. I'm a former federal employee in D.C.--various budget and managerial job series during five admins beginning with Carter and ending with Bush Jr. (NASA, GSA, USDA). I now split my time between Virginia and the west coast, and I run Algonkian conferences and workshops for aspiring authors--a rewarding endeavor as long as the narcissists can be avoided. Btw, I have two children. My daughter is a public interest attorney in NYC and a devoted supporter of the Bern, while my son works as a special effects artist for a video game promoter in Novato, CA. I'm a proud daddy who sees no retirement in his future.

Eye Books (eye-books) | 2 comments Hi.
Great group, please keep it going!

I am writing on behalf of www.Eye-Books.com. We like to publish books that challenge the way we see things. We sometimes take on a book with little chance of huge sales as we passionately believe in the central premise.

Sound like a corny cliche? Well, ignoring the first rule of polite conversation, let's talk politics (religion later?)...

"The Iraq disaster helps explain why Britain is in this dark place," @AndrewRawnsley

A lot of what we read about the recent history of Iraq, and indeed Afghanistan is depressing and accusatory. Two books that give a more rounded, forward-looking perspective are Baghdad Business School and Good Morning Afghanistan.

Both are available from www.Eye-Books.com

I am born and raised in Baltimore Maryland but I presently live amongst the Amish up in Pennsylvania. It's quite a change but I couldn't be happier. There was a bit of a culture shock at first but I've since moved on and I'm totally in love with this area!

I've been really into alternative news, conspiracy theories and other things that warrant my own research. To me its exciting to read up on. Selling Kindle devices to the Amish: a salesman's nightmare!

message 495: by Kilig (new)

Kilig (Kiligs) | 12 comments The house I live in uses electricity. We are just regular english people. The Amish do not use electricity. There are probably Mennonites in the area that use minimal electricity. They even let english farmers drive them around in cars. Real Amish-amish people still use horse and carriages. I get stuck behind them on the roads all the time.

There are horse and carriage parking spaces at the grocery stores. I can't find a picture of them online so I can take one next time I am out.

Amish people do not use the internet at all. They believe that technology is a distraction from how life should be spent (very productively and with family & community).

Hi Kilig, I live near the world's largest Amish Community here in Ohio since '68, and have visited the area many times.I always pick up a copy of their nationwide newspaper produced here- 'The Budget' whenever I visit Amish country, be sure to grab one when you see it in their shops, I think it comes out on Wednesday. I totally love reading Amish nonfiction and fiction, if it's not too preachy! Some authors are, and then I get turned off it and have to take a break for awhile, lol! I'm sure you will love the peace and quiet of living amongst them as my granddaughter did. Hope you find lots of good reads here, at Underground Knowledge.

Hi Veronika - Welcome. Your book looks to be an eye-opener. I've taken the liberty of pasting the synopsis for Mother at Seven here...

"Mother at Seven is the shocking, inspirational true story of a little girl's tragic childhood, and how she endured and overcame a decade of unspeakable abuse at the hands of her cruel and sadistic family. Set in Sochi, Russia, near the banks of the majestic Black Sea, Mother at Seven tells of those critical moments in a child's life when the only thing standing between the life and death itself was a pure and innocent belief that better days lie ahead. It teaches that by fighting through hardship and pain, miracles can still happen, and that life can still be amazing as long as hope is never lost."

Luke Gracias | 1 comments Hi

My name is Luke and I live on the beautiful Gold Coast in Australia. I think I have finally found a group which deals with stuff that fascinates me.

I have recently written a book called The Devil's Prayer which is a historical horror thriller. The book is set in modern day and traces a 13th Century deal between the Papal Inquisition and the Mongols over the missing pages of The Devil's Bible or Codex Gigas.
The book is currently on Goodreads Giveaways too.
https://www.goodreads.com/giveaway/sh...
I am particularly interested in the forbidden history of the bible section and also historical anomalies, paintings, etc which can be construed into conspiracy theories. Probably not the right place to say this but I am a Dan Brown fan.
