Cosmic Arcata | 45 comments Hi
I am a huge The Catcher in the Rye fan. I have a discussion group on Goodreads called Breaking The Code To The Catcher In The Rye.
https://www.goodreads.com/group/show/...

In have taken the allusions and looked at them through the lens of WW2. Sometimes this works and some times it ends up being something that happened in the civil war and in WW1 or WW2. As we know history repeats itself. Holden says that the natural history museum has stayed the same and it is only the people that go through history that have changed.

I found this group on The Catcher In The Rye discussion board when the moderator posted a timely article about MK_Ultra and the Catcher In The Rye. It was timely because in the group "most overrated" posted this:

"You feel strongly about what you think you've found in the book. As the others have encouraged, go with it. But I'm not interested in this methodology of interpretation; I don't share your conclusions about where these allusions lead, and I do think that Hinckley and Chapman's twisted approaches to the novel share some of your concerns and interpretations. So, instead of arguing with you, I merely decline to participate in your discussions of the relevance you find in all the numbers and OSS-enburger, and AIG, etc.

"So yeah, I am interested in the allusions Salinger uses in the novel. But allusions are used to work toward a larger idea that holds up to scrutiny. The strands of the novel come together to reinforce meaning. The genius of Salinger, as you put it, isn't in throwing a bunch of random ideas, numbers and names at the wall and seeing what sticks. He's carefully working toward that final scene in the park with Phoebe and the last two pages in the asylum after that. And Holden's final, profound realizations in the novel about how he needs to let life move forward and what he needs to do with his own life don't have much to do, as I can see it, with secret societies and conspiracies."

I think if you mention conspiracy they want to lump you with together with Hinckley and Chapman. Maybe this is how Salinger felt as he was uncovering all these connections. The world wants you to think you are crazy, just like a dysfunctional family so that the dysfunction can continue undetected.
So thank you!

Great! I hope that you will also check out some of my research as well. I think Salinger had a lot of connections given that he was at Valley Forge Academy. I think people underestimate what he knew and what he was writing about. The Catcher took ten years to write.

I look forward to reading more of your research.

message 5: by James, Group Founder (new)

James Morcan | 11380 comments Agreed. Salinger was far more "in the know" and connected than most who analyse The Catcher's immense influence are aware...especially those who have written biographies on Salinger.
Whatever the guy was, he was much more than just a simple author.
In my opinion, all hinges on what Salinger did at the very end of WW2 in Europe...

I've always had an affinity for alternate history books and especially conspiracy theories, so I'm excited to connect with like-minded people. I do subscribe to a policy of radical honesty, so if you ask for my opinion you will get it. Look forward to some lively debate! Cheers everyone and thanks for the invite

message 8: by Lance, Group Founder (new)

Lance Morcan | 3058 comments Hi Jeanine, welcome to this group and we look forward to reading anything you need to post. And no, you don't need to read The Orphan Trilogy first - The Orphan Conspiracies: 29 Conspiracy Theories from The Orphan Trilogy is a stand-alone non-fiction work.

Cobwebs-Iced-Across-SpaceTime (readingreindeerproximacentauri) | 3 comments I have all the Orphan books, but {sigh} haven't yet read; reading for review night and day. As for conspiracy theorizing, I think I born to it; so I very much appreciate the invitation and opportunity to participate.

Mikhayla Gracey Hi I'm Mikhayla. I was not a student of conspiracy theories, until 2011. You might say conspiracy theories found me. I am the author of "Save Me, I'm Yours." I have not read Orphan Conspiracies, but I surely will. I am interested in New World Order conspiracy theorists, Jonestown, the assassination of President Kennedy and his brother Robert, MK-Ultra and project Paperclip, as these are all intimately linked to ritual abuse. It is my thesis that New World Order conspiracy theories began with the Nazis who came over under paperclip. They are the Illuminati and responsible for ritual abuse and the political plotting of right wing extremists today. We are dangerously close to living in Nazi America. I knew none of this and had no interest in conspiracy theories until 2011 when I ran for my life and began researching the source of the nightmare that infected my family. I might have been one to call conspiracy theorists nuts at one time. Now I am one, but I don't view what I know as theory at all, just conspiracy. My objective it to prove it.

 ♥♥Mari♥♥ (twilightdreamlover) Hi, everyone!

Thanks, James, for the invitation! My name is Maria Behar, but I use "Mari" on my Goodreads page, because this has always been my family nickname.

I've been interested in conspiracy theories on an "off- and-on basis" for a long time, but have become more "on" than "off" lately. Lol. I recently finished reading a book titled "Batalla Cosmica" ("Cosmic Battle"), by the angel expert Lucy Aspra, which references many UFO-related titles in the bibliography.

By the way, Aspra's book was written in Spanish, and published in Mexico. Many of the titles in her bibliography, though, were written in English, and published in the U.S.

Here's the book's Goodreads link, if anyone is interested:

https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/1...

In spite of her expertise with angels, Aspra concentrates mainly on ETs in her book. She also mentions such fascinating things as the New World Order, and the CIA's mind control experiments. One of the things she mentions is MK-ULTRA, which was a bona fide CIA secret mind control project, and was investigated by the Church Committee in 1977. Well, I guess you guys already know about this, but it's all new to me!

Aspra also mentions alien abductions, detailing some of the very strange, and even gruesome, experiments carried out on board their spaceships, and sometimes in what abductees refer to as "the fourth dimension".

The one thing I think is totally absurd is when she mentions that the bar code appearing on every single item sold anywhere in the U.S. actually incorporates the binary code for "666", the number of the Beast mentioned in the Book of Revelation, the last book of the Bible. She claims that bar codes "emit negative energies", and one should draw a perpendicular line across the bar codes of any items one has at home, in order to neutralize these energies.....sorry, but this sure sounds like a lot of BS....

Aspra also references The Philadelphia Experiment, which, if true, is entirely mind-blowing!!

I'm now reading another book on the aliens/UFOs/government cover-up topic, titled "The Secret History of Extraterrestrials", which is really fascinating, as well! The author, Len Kasten, mentions Roswell, crop circles, and a theory, espoused by one Michael Salla, that the REAL reason George W. Bush insisted on invading Iraq was to prevent the Russians, Germans, and French from getting access to a Sirian (from the star system, not the country) Stargate, and thus taking world control away from the U.S.....WOW. Heavy stuff!! (It does sound pretty far-fetched, though...)

Here's the Goodreads link to this book:

https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/9...

Now I'm a FULL-BLOWN conspiracy addict!!!!! And I'm very happy to be here!! : )

Mikhayla Gracey Hi Mari,
You know, there are RA/MK Ultra survivors who have gone through therapy who have had alien abduction memories. What they find in therapy is that these memories were elaborately staged and they were drugged and or hypnotized. The perpetrators are the same group that is responsible for all of the rest of their abuse. These memories are programmed to be among the first to come up if they begin to have memories. The objective is to create memories that are too ridiculous to be believed. The memories are real enough, but they were not actually abducted by aliens. They were abducted by sadistic asses with too much power in their hands. Welcome to the group Mari!

The cover up part of JFK is as important to the question of who or how many committed the crime. Pope John Paul I is the latest one I am studying.

I am old enough to remember when Ike said we were not overflying USSR. Uh Huh

I am still on the fence on the this topic: http://www.majesticdocuments.com/

I love reading, and reading between the lines, what really is being said. I never, well I guess I shouldn't say never, if someone presents a point of view, don't expect me to be a bobble-head. I like to research my own big picture. I am a shy, quiet person, who has been writing probably as long as I could write. Sadly I ended up retiring because of my health, so haven't had the extra funds to be able to submit any of my books.
Reading is off bounds since I suffered a concussion recently, but I did order The Orphan Conspiracies, and the Orphan Trilogy....books must be ready to read.
thank you again for the invitation, I am looking forward to participating in the discussions.

I have both, but my reading is very limited, well I'm not supposed to until the headaches and double vision have resolved from my concussion. I was thinking I would at least read a bit at a time, this is coming from someone who typically reads a book a day.

Clark Isaacs (Clarks_Eye_on_Books) | 2 comments Hi, I am Clark, and I write book reviews of many different types of books. Where I got into writing about conspiracy theories was in 1970 when a lot of people were bring forth the Zapruder film clip and expounding on the theory of JFK assignation. I attended several lectures, saw many films, and read many books.

Now, in the twilight years of my life I am still reading several books a week, but have been more selective in the historical content of what I read.

Recently I received an advance copy of Stalin to read and review. It is a tomb of a book (700 pages). I must have backed up with about 100 or so books yet to read on my book shelves.

There are a lot of conspiracy theories out there and this group interests me since I have always had an inquisitive mind reading and discussing topics which never were a part of the common herd!

Thanks for the invite!

Oh thank you so much Lance, very nice to meet you, and thank you for the welcome. I will post the information for the book that I wrote for the feed; but I will also share here that the book is entitled "On Earth As It Is In Hell" and it is available on Amazon.com Barnes&Noble.com and Apple iBooks for ebook readers and downloading. The paperback and hardback editions should be available in a few weeks!

Cortina Jackson | 5 comments I have written a book entitled "On Earth As It Is In Hell" by Cortina Jackson

It is available on Amazon.com, Barnes&Noble.com, and Apple iBooks. The paperback and hardback version will be available in a few weeks!

It is a fiction novel, here the premise of the book:

With all of the Hell on earth occurring these days, the one place that one can expect to find refuge is the church. But what happens when the church is in direct correlation with Hell? What unfolds as the church is found to be built atop portals to Hell, as demons enter into the services, the pastors, and the people seeking solace?

What once was thought of as a conspiracy is now moving to reality, as new world agenda’s are exposed. In great detail, the layers of the character’s lives are peeled away, revealing graphic circumstances that will change them forever; for there is a worst fate that could be faced.

However, the story does not end without the deep, dark, underworld being revealed. Does Hell exist? Who is worthy of its torment and destruction? In this tale, you may be surprised! The story will captivate you, encompass you, and almost consume you before releasing you to your own thoughts; which may be scarier than fiction.

I would love it if I could get feedback on it. I'm pretty nervous about it, but I'm hoping it is well received.
