I read a review (or two) about this book not that long ago. The review said it would ruin it to reveal too much but the book opens with two men coming into a man's yard and saying they need to speak to him inside. They reveal that they need to kill his daughter or the world will end. They then have to make the case to him and he must decide if they are totally crazy or if they are right and his daughter needs to be killed. Any ideas?

Where did you read the reviews?
YA or adult?
Author female or male?
Genre? e.g. sci-fi, fantasy, paranormal, horror?

It was either slate, New York Times or Washington Post. It was a pretty big outlet. I tried going back through Slate book reviews and either did not go back far enough or it wasn't Slate (though that would have been the most likely option). It was an adult book. I think thriller, possibly dystopian. I don't remember the author's gender. I just remember the review was very positive and was saying they couldn't give away much more than what was in the first few pages which is that two men enter this guy's yard and need to speak to him inside.
So I posted this on Facebook and a friend was able to figure it out for me. It was the Cabin at the End of the World. And the review I read was on NPR.
