E-sport
Computer games are a popular recreation for many people. E-sports can be just as competetive and demanding as regular sports, and only a very small number of players ever reach the top level in their game and become professional players.
Read 3 books, one for each option.The total page number must be 750 or higher. No books with the genres children or kids on the main book page may be used. Since e-sport takes place in a virtual reality all books should be fiction.
1: E-sport is one of the fastest growing sports today, with millions of people watching, most of them young. Read a book with main page genre Young Adult.
2: E-sports is played in teams, at the top level usually teams of professional players. Read a book written by a team of 3 or more authors. A short story collection or omnibus where each author contributed one or more stories works, as does a novel written by a group of people together.
3: One of the most popular E-sport games today is CounterStrike:Global Offensive. CS:GO is a a first person shooter, where one team plays terrorists trying to plant and explode a bomb and the other team plays the counter-terrorists trying to find and deactivate the bomb. Read a book about or featuring terrorists or a terrorist attack.

1. Going back to school often means reading books assigned by teachers rather than chosen by students. Read a book from the Best School Assigned Books list (https://www.goodreads.com/list/show/7... in your post state the page number where it was found.
2. School requires studying a variety of subjects, some of the most common are:
• Mathematics
• Science
• History
• Literature
• Geography
• Social Studies
Read a book with one of these subjects as the GR main page Genre.
3. When going back to school, you should remember to bring an apple for the teacher. Read a book where all the letters for APPLE can be found in the title/subtitle/series title.

Jane Austen Lives!
Last month I attended a 5 day program “Society in Jane Austen’s World: England’s Regency Period”. We heard lectures, watched movies, and played games that were popular in Jane Austen’s time. I had a lot of fun and was inspired to share through this task.
Read 3 books, one for each option. The total page number must be 750 or higher. No books with the genres children or kids on the main book page may be used. Books whose main page lists any of these genres: Sequential Art, Comics, Comic Book, or Manga may not be used.
The Regency in England was from 1811 to 1820 when the responsibilities of King George III were taken over by his son George IV.
Book 1: Read a book that is set during the Regency or was first published between 1811 and 1820 (those years included). If it is not clear from the GR description what year it was set, include an explanation in your post.
Book 2: Read a book by an author whose name includes JANE or GEORGE intact.
Book 3: (Tying in with the SRC Fall 2018 theme): Card games mentioned in Jane Austen’s novels include WHIST, QUADRILLE, LOO, and COMMERCE. Outdoor games in Jane Austen’s time included ARCHERY, BOWLS, CROQUET and THE GAME OF GRACES. Read a book with a title of at least two words where the first letter of each word is found in one of these games. All letters must be in the same game.

The following countries celebrate their independence in October:
Austria, Azerbaijan; Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Equatorial Guinea, Fiji, Guinea, Iraq, Laos, Lesotho, Nigeria, St. Vincent & the Grenadines, Turkey, Turkmenistan, Tuvalu, Uganda and Zambia.
Read a book either set in one of these countries…or written by an author who was born in one of these countries.
Book 2:
The following countries celebrate their independence in November:
Albania, Angola, Antigua & Barbuda, Barbados, Cambodia, Dominica, Latvia, Lebanon, Mauritania, Morocco, Oman, Panama, Poland, Suriname and Yemen.
Read a book in which all the initial letters of the title (3 word minimum, excluding sub-title) can be found in the name of one of these countries

General Rules
✔ All books added together must at least total 750 pages.
✔ No books MPG: Sequential Art, Comics, Comic Book, Manga, Children's or Kids.

Step 1: Choose Your Starter
Every journey begins with choosing your starter. Below, you will see the 3 starters/buckets you can pick which will follow you through every other challenge. Pick your starter and read a book with one of the mpgs listed. The mpg can be stand-alone or embedded.

Congratulations! You've picked your one starter and brute forced your way through the gym leaders. Fast, I know, but I'm only allowed to challenge 3 books
Step 2: Elite Four
Standing in your way before the champion are elite four. Four strong trainers which you have beat in a row with no break before you can face the champion. Read a book with an MPG in your starter bucket that meet the four requirements below.
◾At least 300 pages.
◾Must be a standalone book (not part of series) (we brute forced with one starter)
◾Must not be the author's first book. (because your starter has evolved ;) )
◾Must be rated 4.0 or higher on Goodreads.
Now that you're beaten and bruised trying to meet all 4 requirements, you're off to face the champion. Queue my favorite champion theme music.
Final Step: Champion
All right, you're at the peak of the mountain because they really like mountains in Japan. To beat the champion, read with a book with an MPG from your starter bucket that meets the below requirements.
◾Meets all 4 requirements from step 2
◾Has won an award per its Goodread's page.
Annnd you've won! Your 3 books are now in the Hall of Fame and you sit on the champions seat. Until the next challenger arrives.

For this task read three book whose titles read like a poem.

You must read at least three books, and the number of total pages must be greater than 800. You may read more than three books if you wish to have a longer poem, as long as the 800 page requirement is met

The 50 point task will require:
1. Only 3 options.
2. One book per option.
3. Three books totaling at least 750 pages. Your task idea may require a higher page threshold but this must be disclosed in your entry.
4. No books with the genres children or kids on the main book page may be used.

6. No “free choice” options will be allowed. This is a challenge, so tasks that have no element of challenge do not fit the purpose.
7. A task must be accessible to the majority of players, i.e. not limited to a specific format, edition, publisher, etc. and reviewable by the moderators.
Anyone eligible* to design a task may submit an idea for a task that follows the general guidelines above. Your idea should be a sketch that may be developed with the moderators.
* To be eligible to create a task, the player’s profile must be set up to accept Goodreads messages, and he/she must not have a task in the current challenge. Only one task per person per challenge.
The group will vote to determine the 50 point task. All ideas that fit the general guidelines will be included in a poll. The poll winner will develop their idea with the moderators to refine their task. The final task may differ from the original idea submission. The task will be posted as close to the midpoint as reasonably possible. The task creator will monitor and answer questions in the help thread.
