Chris Sittler | 42 comments I read this series sometime between 2005-2009.
I don't remember the authors name, but I think it was a man.
What I remember of the story:
*Main character was an Englishman in the early/mid 1800s who was press ganged as a child/teen and managed to jump ship in America.
*He wore a top hat.
*Either was a trapper or worked for one of the big fur trading companies.
*Had a horse and a dog, I think named "Blue", who dies in a later book. The horse was "wild" and may have been black. I remember the horse having a bad temperament.
*He married/lived with a Native American woman.

Is this children's, YA, or adult?

Teri-K | 305 comments Is it Richard S. Wheeler's Skye West series? The first one is The Fire Arrow. (Sorry, I don't know how to link on Goodreads.) This is a good Western series and I think it fits your description exactly.
