Review: This series has been a good break from my typical PNR/UF series reading. These books are based on the locals and visitors in a remote fictional town called Virgin River in the mountain area of northern CA tucked in near the Redwoods not too far from the coast. This story follows a widowed minister, Noah, that bought an abandoned church on ebay from one of the locals and comes to renovate and build a congregation in the area. He hires Ellie, a down on her luck single mom as an assistant / general labor helper. She is an attractive, ex-dancer who's had a string of bad luck thru life and recently lost custody of her two children to her ex-husband that is out to punish her. She is very unselfish and giving to several of local women with their own struggles while growing closer to this new minister. There is always lots of continuation and crossover from previous couples storylines as this community grows and supports each other. I personally like this series because these are primarily centered around a group of ex-military men that have come to this region to retire, fish and hunt and deal with their own PTSD, injuries and loss of fellow soldiers and other issues. I love the tight bonds that were formed in serving together, the sacrifices they made to serve their country and that they are still a tight unit that finally find love and get their HEAs. These are usually quick light reads that move quickly.

The book didn't grab me right away but it started getting better fast. I loved Roarke, the brother, father, friends, James, the main character and her "wolf". We had rogue weres, different shifters, a sorceress and vamp. Boo on the cliffhanger, though. Will definitely be reading the next one soon.

I liked the main character, and the friend Dee, well enough but...it was too teenager twilightish for me. The writing style wasn't bad for this genre or age group, but the characters left much to be desired. Not much new in terms of plot either - replace one supernatural with another, one glittery power with another. The main issue is Daemon really is a douchebag (as the MC Coins him) for most of the book. Gorgeousness only matters so much when it comes to irritating personalities.

@Steph. How exciting to have Sierra Dean reply to your comment. I was excited when I saw my weekend email from FictFact with the new book. What a happy surprise indeed.

I was so excited to see she'd made a comment. *squee* I'm such a nerd when it comes to direct communications with authors no matter how small. :D
I couldn't believe it when I saw it. I'm definitely going to have to reread #8 before that one. I think I remember, but I'm sure I've forgotten a lot in three years.

Review:
“Oh love, you misunderstand. It wasn’t the king demanding your obedience. It was the man.”Claimed tells the story of Dage, King of the Realm and Emma, a psychic scientist (and Cara's sister from book #1 Fated). As a psychic, Emma's had visions of Dage for fifteen years whereas Dage has dreamt of her for two hundred years. When he meets his brother's mate and learns that Cara's sister is the woman from his dreams, he's determined to claim his mate. She's making difficult though. First and foremost, she's on the run and doing a great job of hiding from not only their enemies but also Dage and his brothers.
“There’s a difference?”
“Absolutely. The king has rules. The man doesn’t.”
Women were complicated and mates were that—times a hundred. There should be a guidebook. While I enjoyed Zanetti's intro into her Dark Protectors, I wasn't particularly drawn to Talen and Cara's story in Fated, however I thoroughly enjoyed Dage and Emma's story. I also enjoyed seeing more of little Jaine and her dream dates with Zane. I'm really looking forward to Conn's book, #3 Hunted, as he heads to Ireland in search of his witch mate, Moira.

And I'll have to check out SD's comment, and thanks for that rec too!

Review: I didn't expect to enjoy this one all that much. There was just too much hype. But I tried my best to go into it with an open mind. And I had so much fun reading it! Part way through I had to stop and check the author's wikipedia page. I would have been so disappointed to find out that this was all in his head. But it turns out that for the first part of his life he lived in this super rich Asian culture.
The characters were so real. I laughed with them, and my heart hurt for them. I almost cried for them. And I can't wait to read the next one!

And I know... I was clicking thru their feed to see how they were doing. It's going to be a close one. I'd rather have one more week and a larger read off...

My pleasure, if you find good Paranormal series in that genre, drop me a line and let me know. I'm always on the hunt for them.
