I read this book at least twenty years ago maybe more. Plot revolves around a woman with a talent ( not sure if she was an artist or architect) who is hired to go to a big estate to do a job. The estate has a labyrinth. Not sure about other details but at the end the protagonist discovers that it is her mother (long lost) who has hired her. The protagonist realizes it is her mother because she is given a poem to read... the first letters of each verse spell out the fact that they are mother/daughter. Pretty sure the cover was of the labyrinth. Book was written in 90s (I think)

Long shot but Finding Laura has a maze/labyrinth on the cover and the heroine is an artist. Also published in the 90s. Can't remember if the rest of the details fit though.
