This one is not what I was hoping for so far, I'm not generally a fan of present tense writing and the mechanics are little strange. How does a mermaid sigh and create a cloud of air bubbles but have gills at the same time? How do you sit down "heavily" underwater?? Maybe I'm just thinking about it too much, but it keeps pulling me out of the fantasy every time, lol. I'm only a few chapters in so far so I'll keep reading to see if the story at least can redeem it.
Deep Blue sounds interesting! (at least from the description on goodreads) I haven't read a good sisterhood story in a while, so I might have to pick that one up later.

Update: I put down Rise of the Sea Witch for now. It just wasn't holding my attention. I moved onto Freaks and Other Family by L. McBride (which I just finished) and Reflection from the Twisted Tales series.

I'm new too!
I'm new too!

I joined this group a few weeks back but have had a book released - no time!
I wanted to thrown a question out there: What is your fine line between the mechanics of YA and adult fiction?

I read YA books all the time and I've read a few adult novels. I'd say that as soon as you start adding a whole lot of strong vocabulary and information, that's a crossover into an adult novel. YA stands for Young Adult and young adults are teens. Teens have very little attention spans and need to read something with little resistance. I learned recently, that YA authors don't even use semi-colons because teens are confused by them and they're too distracting.
I also think that once you get into areas like sex and very strong language, then you are crossing into adult novel territory. YA's almost ALWAYS have romance, but it needs to be without the sex part and a little more on the innocent side or you're losing the YA feel.
Hope that helps!

I have no choice but to get back up . I have values and responsibilities that most of you have no clue if who I am or what this mind that you think you control huh No one controls my mind but me Noone walks in ly my shoes but me If I fail I fail. Have you read Kasie West's Pivot Point series? Loved it!

Have you checked from your local library? You can give it a try if you like

I'm also rereading for the 5th time: ACOWAR (A Court of Wings and Ruin) GO FEYSAND!!!!

The faults in our Stars!! I love that book! Try not to cry... I didn't succed in that.. I'm currently reading it in Spanish. Can't say it isn't challenging, but I'm not giving up! I'm currently reading three books aswell (cause why not :) ). The Siren, Always never yours and Clockwork Princess. //Emma

Uh. You are DEFINITELY NOT the only one. In my local library, there is one person waiting in line for it before me, and I want to reread the other books in the Dark Artifices. I'll be able to read those in a week. I know it's, like, forbidden, but I ship Emma and Julian!!

Uh. You are DEFINITELY NOT the only one. In my loc..."
Okay, literal chills while reading this I'm soo exited! Unfortunately my local library has decided to wait for next years budget before buying it...! I don't know how I am to survive... I'm thinking of re-reading them aswell, which is not hard since her writing and stories are soo complex and lovely. I definitely ship them aswell, I mean, who wouldn't!?? I'm worried what will happen, though, you never know what might come when Cassandra's deciding the story's outcome...

I finished Fault in our Stars. Definitely very sad. I just devoured A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J Maas and I loved it so much. I am waiting for my library to order the 2nd in the series.

Yep, I cried a lot.. I havn't read any of Sarah J Maas books yet, but I think I'll have to do it soon!
//Emma

After reading my first Sarah J Maas book, I can say she is an awesome author and her work is well worth the read. There is a bit of sex throughout her series' but they are still great.

Is it more fantasy than Cassandra Clare's series?

I haven't read any Cassandra Clare books. So i'm not too sure.

Well, please do since they're amazing. I can try out Sarah and you Cassandra? :) If you want to that is.
