I read this book many many times when I was younger. It's about a man that lived on a street where all the houses were in a row and all looked exactly the same. So he plants a bush to make his look different. Then everyone plants a bush. He paints his house. Everyone paints their house.

I would love to find out the title...to read to my grandkids.

I am searching for a book. I think it was set in medieval france and england, during the time of the plague. Its main character is a boy who works for a blacksmith i think.
