Galaxies and Oceans by N.R. Walker, 313pp/GR

5⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Like the slow movements of the tides and the wonderous expanse of the stars, this book slowly filled me with love for the two men who needfully and inevitably came to trust each other.
Perhaps the slow pacing of the book will needle those desperate for more to happen. Perhaps this need for FASTER and NOW will get in the way of some readers from enjoying the beauty of the words Walker set down. And perhaps this slow undercurrent of love will keep them from allowing our MCs to take their own journey. This is their book, not mine, nor yours. This book of theirs told their love story the way it needed to be told—patiently, steadily, and sometimes ferociously.
One man escapes a brutal, abusive situation by disappearing into a wildfire. His stars guide him south until he comes to a jagged scrap of rock: Kangaroo Island. Mistrustful of everything and everyone, a man without a name, he meets the kind lighthouse keeper—a man who has been living through his own sorrows, a man also emotionally apart from others.
So you wonder how a story of an abused man and a grieving man can become the magical tale that Walker spun? Well, trust, kindness, understanding and patience go a long way towards healing souls. And that’s exactly what happened. The slowest of burns by design on the part of the two lovers allowed for the inclusion and exorcism of their pasts.
Some might think that openly grieving an ex-partner an intrusion on a current relationship, but one can’t just erase past love, like pain, as it never happened.
The romance, passion and sex these two share on this journey is STUNNING!!! It’s SEXY, yes ROMANCE IS SEXY!! Romance and not insta-love, not insta-heal is what is at the heart if this story and I loved every page of it. I also loved how INCREDIBLY HOT the sex was because of the romance.
This story set at the workd’s end has a happy ending for our lovers and a very satisfying one for me.
Let this slow wash of emotions wash over you...give this story the time it needs because I, for one, reveled in the power of time, nature, destiny, and the stars.

Week 10- Option 1

Snow Angels
Rating- 4*
Review- This was quirky! The heroine had some unusual talents, the hero was a damaged war veteran. I had to suspend disbelief a little for this one, but it still worked for me. Cute banter, wounded soul, snowed in and stranded in a cabin, all things I like! Yes, it’s kind of insta-love, but again, I like that! Lyssa was irresistible as the heroine.

I’m trying to find a book for each remaining category so I’m set to go for the last call on Friday. I would love some recs that are under 125 pages. Thanks!!

I'll look to see if there's a list...

https://www.goodreads.com/list/show/1...
...but you'd have to check the lengths of each individually.
Maybe some of these could fit?
https://www.goodreads.com/list/show/7...
And this one has a few:
https://www.goodreads.com/list/show/7...
Plus, I'm not sure how you'd sort it but maybe the Main Location - Africa/India/Asia shelf in the MMRomance group

I'm hoping that category doesn't get picked!

Review: A nice enough story.
I just didn't get them as a couple. There was not enough chemistry between them and it was just a bit dull. Adams roller coaster emotions were annoying since it felt like reading about a 6 year-old throwing temper tantrums.
Still, the premise was good and there were no noticeable errors so it was a quick and easy read.

Review: I thought this was a nice wrap up to this series. I have to be honest Carrington isn't my favorite character so my least favorite were the books with him as the MC. Still I liked the way this made the team feel pretty settled and the wrap up of the main plot with the villain although I figured out who it was very early in this book.

Week 10: Building on Cover
Option 1

In the Middle of Somewhere by Roan Parrish
Pages: 350pgs/GR
How it Fits: Cabin on Cover
Rating: Audio Review 16Nov2018: 4.5 Stars
I forgot how much I really liked this book; I also forgot how long it was - which meant a longer audio than I was expecting given I chose it for a challenge read. But...
I still love the fandom reference (Buffy in college) and the little literary nods here and there (expected given Daniel's profession). I still adored Daniel and after listening this time around I feel even more akin to him; so often I think people where I grew up assumed I was stuck-up but it was just me being focused, determined to not rot in that town, sticking up for what I believed in and what I thought was right. (Also, how does "trailer trash" equate to stuck-up? I still haven't figured that out yet.)
Anywho, once again Robert Neiman does a great job with the narration. Voices sounded age appropriate and fit the characters. I really liked his style, cadence and pacing (even if I speed it up anyway, because I just can't with audios at regular playback...this one I only upped to 1.35X which is one of the lowest adjustments I've ever made) and I really, really loved his performance during the angsty scenes (specifically the bit at the graveyard where Daniel remembers the rose he left for his mom and the nightmares that followed it). Oh, and the sex scenes were even more phenomenal in audio. So glad I had my earbuds in the whole time. Just sayin'!
On the whole a wonderful experience. A different narrator picks up the next book...and since it's someone I'm not all that familiar with, a part of me wishes Robert was given that job as well. We'll see...
(Edited to add: Oh, evidently I HAVE listened to an audio by Spencer Goss as he narrated the first Half Moon Bay. Since that was written by Rhys Ford, I think I just assumed it was performed by Greg. That I don't remember listening to Spencer is worrisome, though. Still, it's going on the re-read via audio shelf!)

Week 11- Option 1

Smitty's Sheriff
Rating - 2.5* rounded up to 3*
Review- I just didn’t really like Richard. I tried. But he wasn’t very likable, lol. His jealousy, lack of communication skills, and general shitty treatment of Todd was irritating. But Todd loves him. And seems ok with being treated like crap. He certainly forgave Rich pretty easily. They seemed good in the end, with both of them understanding the other better and seeming to work it all out. I’m glad they are both happy at least.

Week 11 - Option 1

First Time
Date Read: 11/16
Rating: 4.5 Stars
Review: This was such a sweet little story that you can't help but smile as you read it. I don't like YA books all that much but I really adored the MC's in this book and the the secondary characters. Cody and Simon were so sweet and I loved the way Cody's football friends all rallied behind him especially the Homecoming Dance. I wish the real world was like this and kids could feel free to be who they are without worry. I'm not sure I believe Cody and Simon can survive college apart and Cody's NFL career if he has one but I really want to.

Oh man, that was fast. I'm almost done, too!

Oh man, that was fast. I'm almost done, too!"
It was over before I even woke up. It has been fun ladies! Thanks for a great challenge!
See you all around!
