Great adventure story! I "reread" it recently by listening to it on audiobook.

I've been reading, well listening to, Life on the Mississippi, Life on the Mississippi by Mark Twain , memoirs by Mark Twain. I just started in hardcover Austerlitz, Austerlitz by W.G. Sebald , which I am not sure I like...

An excellent choice! I reread that one a couple years ago, and there were a lot of parts I remembered, but others I had forgotten. Loved it as much as I did in school!

Oh that book sounds so beautiful, but I think it would make me cry. Is it very sad?

message 4778: by Kirsten (new)

In line to board the bus to the airport for a flight from Melbourne to San Francisco on New Year's Eve, I overheard several university students discussing this book. One of them even had the book and was looking at the map in the front. They were sure and certain that Kentucky was coastal, and from the mountaintops in Kentucky it was possible to see the Atlantic Ocean.

I seriously had to stop myself from laughing out loud.

I would have had to interrupt to corrupt them -- after I finished groaning and laughing, of course. ;-)
