Finished Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet last night and absolutely loved it. Was even a little choked up at the end. Sigh...

Am reading a rom-suspense now by Julie Miller, Nanny 911.

I loved this book also, but read it not listened. My eyes get soooo tired sometimes, I should try audiobooks. Hmmmm, food for thought.

I love the teen feel of the artwork throughout the book - made me remember when I did the same doodles back in high school That Boy (That Boy, #1) by Jillian Dodd

I liked that on audio.

Karen M | 1436 comments I seem to be a bit tired of mysteries/thrillers at the moment so I'm reading A Hearth in Candlewood and Love Over Scotland. Of course, I'll probably be back with a mystery as soon as I finish White Fang which I'm reading as slowly as possible because I love this book.

message 2421: by Karen (new)

Karen Well I love the movie and finally bit the bullet and am doing the book: The Bourne Identity (Jason Bourne, #1) by Robert Ludlum As usual way different than move. I think the movie ruined it for me. Marie is so different in the book. I love her in the movie and hated them killing her off. Does that also happen in book 2? May not want to read it then. I like her vulnerability and and dependence on him in movie with his lead. In book she is more like the lead and not a nobody as in the movie. I guess it is more romantic the way movie does, but not practical if it was real life. Also book drags in spots, whereas movie is action go go.
I am also reading: Between a Rock and a Hard Place by Aron Ralston which I happened to see at library and have always been interested in this story. I am disappointed in it. ( I know there was movie of this also and think it would be better. )I read reviews on here and they were pretty low ranking so I am wondering whether to pursue it or not. Too many books to waste time.

I love this series AND the Alpha & Omega series - set in the same world, sharing some characters, but with different main characters.

Susan (shushan) | 6 comments I am about to read Lightening Thief by Rick Riordan. I just finished several nonfics & my semester textbooks (of course). I am also reading Snuff by Terry Pratchett. Haven't decided which cozy is up next. I'm leaning toward book 2 from Anne George's Southern Sisters series, "Murder on a Bad Hair Day"

Melodie, it'd be easier if I prefered one over the other. With the last A&O book, I'm just as hooked on that series.

I am in the middle of reading Rebecca by Daphne du Maurier. I also enjoy Maeve Binchy,Julie Garwood,Catherine Coulter (I've read most of the FBI Thriller series),Judith McNaught among many others.

I read that series and really enjoyed it. I loaned them to my mom,she loaned them to her friends and they all enjoyed the series. They agreed with me that it is always nice to see main characters a little more in our age range as well as the younger ones.

I'm reading A Beautiful Blue Death by Charles Finch who is a British author. It's historic mystery, quite slow moving, but interesting for the other-world-time atmosphere.

Barb | 1192 comments For this month's F2F book group, I'm listening to Killing Floor, Lee Child's first Jack Reacher book. It is definitely NOT a cozy, and I'm not sure I'll continue the series.

Like DonnaCarol, I tend to read little bits of everything, depending on what mood I'm in at the moment -- and what books are due back at the library first :) Favorite non-cozy authors include Catherine Coulter, Debbie Macomber, Steve Berry, Mary Kay Andrews, Elin Hilderbrand and Michelle Moran.

Melodie (melodieco) | 5280 comments I read a lot of YA paranormal & dystopian when I'm not reading cozies or hardboiled mysteries. Right now I'm reading The Selection (The Selection, #1) by Kiera Cass and Divergent (Divergent, #1) by Veronica Roth . I understand the CW TV network is probably going to have show this fall based on THE SELECTION, so thought I'd be sure to read it well in advance. I do love the CWs take on The Vampire Diaries! Also, hope to get to Robert B. Parker's Lullaby by Ace Atkins within the next week. The Spenser series was always one of my absolute favorites. I figured there wouldn't be any more with Parker's passing last year, but actually looking forward to Ace Atkins' take on the books. I've read some of his other stuff and he's a good writer.

What could be better during round after round of thunderstorms than a good, creepy suspense? I spent most of the day curled up with Tami Hoag's Deeper Than the Dead, finishing before dinner. Will definitely be seeking out the second and third books in this series!

How did you like "The Selection?" I've read some reviews of it that make me think I probably would just get frustrated with it so I'm a little wary.
