Seems to be my week for strange little books. Now I'm reading Zombie Eyes by Robert W. Walker. Prolific writer who writes horror and supernatural, occult horror and suspense-thriller, mysteries, historical and I've probably missed a few.

Well here's for something totally different than my usual cozy: Jack Higgins A Devil Is Waiting. Great thriller, not done yet but enjoying it. It moves quick and has a sense of humor. It reminds me a bit of a James Bond type story. Love this author!

Whew! Finished A Tale of Two Cities by Charles Dickens this afternoon. I had difficulty sleeping last night, so ended up reading until almost 6am. Got up around 11am, and finished the book in about 1-1/2 hours, after breakfast of course.
Now for a few faster reads!

Am reading Scandalous Spirits. Only 1/4 of the way through and it's ok - I can see where it's going already though.

Started Chasing Fire (rom-suspense) by Nora Roberts yesterday, am already 30% through. I'm coming down with a cold, so my big weekend plans are to curl up with this book and a box of Kleenex.

Heather - that's how I spent the last two days. My children shared their stomach bug, so the silver lining was that I got to read! Feel better soon!

Right now I am trying hard to get through Under the Dome. I am a huge Stephen King fan, but for some reason, this particular book is just not doing it for me.

I read the next few books so it didn't swear me off the series or anything :)
I'm almost done with a thriller/mystery called The Dead Saint. It's really quite good. Paid assassins, assassination, politics, secret organizations, really keeping me interested.

Finished Chasing Fire by Nora Roberts, and also read three short stories (45 pages) in the Dorothy L Sayers anthology I've been working on two years now. Only nine more shorts to go!

While on my 2-week Mazatlan, Mexico working vacation, I read two nonfiction ARCs related to the mystery genre. The first was the updated edition of Jeffrey Mark's Intent to Sell, which will be published soon. Every author on this list should put the new edition on their to-buy list. It's been the Bible for genre book promotion for many years, and the new edition has many updates for the electronic age.

Lyle's upcoming April release, MORE FORENSICS AND FICTION: Crime Writers Morbidly Curious Questions Expertly Answered, a sequel to Forensics and Fiction: Clever, Intriguing, and Downright Odd Questions from Crime Writers. As a result of reading it, I even made a small correction to the galley proofs for Wicked Eddies, which I was also reviewing while away! I recommend Doctor D. P. Lyle's book to both mystery authors and readers.

. James is such an excellent author and I've been really hooked by this one. Only about 50 more pages to go and I still haven't figured out who's the murderer.

I had difficulty deciding what to read next last night, but finally settled on an older romance picked up at the library's used book sale some time ago, The Duke Comes Home by Dame Barbara Cartland. At only 149 pages it was a fast read, but quite good.
Next up is Sea of Suspicion by Toni Anderson, which I won from another GR group last week and received in today's mail.
