Isn't O'shaugnessey coming out with a new one soon?

Ellen (elliearcher) I'm reading a wonderful, but non-cozy, mystery: The Snowman (Harry Hole, #7) by Jo Nesbø (Jo Nesbø). Also another mystery that I think of as non-cozy, Lawrence Block most recent Matt Scudder (as a New Yorker I really appreciate the Scudder series!), A Drop of the Hard Stuff (Matthew Scudder, #17) by Lawrence Block . And since I'm isolated because of work, I'm enjoying (in a slow-moving way) the conversational tone of Block's collection of afterwords from various books of his, Afterthoughts by Lawrence Block & the autobiography, Cybill Disobedience How I Survived Beauty Pageants, Elvis, Sex, Bruce Willis, Lies, Marriage, Motherhood, Hollywood, and the Irrepressible Urge to Say What I Think by Cybill Shepherd .

alicia grant (shesha556) the last few books were The Arrivals by Meg Mitchell Moore Before I Go to Sleep by S.J. Watson and Live to Tell (Live to Tell #1) by Wendy Corsi Staub the first one was okay. The second was very very good and suspenseful. The third so far is good as well.

She definitely too the old advice about putting your characters through hell to heart, didn't she? And all the time you're sitting there reading it thinking, "oh, but wait. Lavinia STILL doesn't know ..."

I picked up The Redbreast by Jo Nesbø by Jo Nesbo the other day, but am having second thoughts about it. I might take it back since I REALLY didn't like the first 2 Stieg Larsson books.

message 1913: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer (jhaltenburger) Just finished Gone with the Windsors Gone with the Windsors by Laurie Graham . Good book but my god, Wallis Warfield Simpson was annoying and selfish. I read a bio of her about 25 years ago and thought the same thing then.

I had checked the movie on HULU but you have to have the Premium Service to watch it. I watched the 1:30 minute preview which didn't even make it through the opening credits. It appears to be in Spanish??

message 1929: by Robin (new)

Robin (goodreadscomtriviagoddessl) | 630 comments I think you get one with subtitles. I remember seeing it on DVD a while back. Once you get it from your local library or netflix. Usually they have it in Spanish with English subtitles, or go on youtube and see if you can see it there.

Kathleen Valentine Don't laugh but I just bought a Kindle and I've been obsessed with all the free vintage cookbooks and homecrafting books they offer! I've read some wonderful books some dating back to the 1600s. One was written around the time of the Civil War and is all about quilting. I loved every page. Crazy, I know but so much fun to read!

message 1934: by Kathleen (new)

Kathleen Valentine It's so addictive, isn't it? I keep downloading samples -- it would take me a month just to read all my samples!

message 1935: by Mary (new)

Mary (resort) | 139 comments Someday, Kathleen, you'll find yourself stuck in an airport or whatever and you'll be so glad to have all that reading material! Of course, samples will leaving you wanting more, but, there you are :-)

Just finished yesterday The Longest Shot: Lil E. Tee and the Kentucky Derby by John Eisenberg. I gained a new appreciation for this longshot Kentucky Derby winner. He sure had to overcome a lot to get to the winner's circle on the 1st Saturday in May!

Ariel (sevenmoonlight) | 138 comments I had listened to Priceless How I Went Undercover to Rescue the World's Stolen Treasures by Robert K. Wittman Priceless: How I Went Undercover to Rescue the World's Stolen Treasures. It was told in a simple fashion, but was quiet interesting I thought. Follows the guy who essentially started the Art Crimes unit for the FBI and followed several of his cases. For Non-fiction you might consider it.
