a couple of months ago. Good book!
Denise wrote: "The Penny Pinchers Club is quite good so far. I'm up to Chapter 12 (page 145). Has anyone else read it?"I read this a couple of years ago and remember really enjoying it. I like Sarah Strohmeyer's books. My fave was The Cinderella Pact.
Just finished 212: A Novel by Alafair Burke - really enjoyed it! I like both of Ms. Burke's series (yes, she is the daughter of James Lee Burke) - her Samantha Kincaid in Portland, OR and Ellie Hatcher in NYC. Now I'm bummed I'll have to wait for another book to be published.
I finished The Penny Pinchers Club and really liked it. I even managed to get through it without crying which is something for me. Suzanne, I haven't read The Cinderella Pact but I probably will read more of Strohmeyer's work. I'm trying not to add anything new to my TBR pile before heading to Phoenix. And after I get there I have made a promise to myself to read some of the books that I own that I haven't read yet. If I'm going to pay to move them over 2,000 miles I think I owe my books to read them.I started Simple Secrets. It is good so far. This series has a Mennonite story line. It kind of has a mystery aspect but I'm not sure if it would be classified as a cozy or something else. If anyone else has read or is reading this I would like to hear where you think it should be classified.
"Living well with Diabetes" Ugh! recently diagnosed so am rather obssessed with nutrition, food groups, blood sugars etc. Am very boring to be around thus why I need my Cozy fix pretty regularly!
Not sure if it's considered a cozy but I just finished
. I've loved the Gregor Demarkian series since it's beginning and this is the 25th in the series! It's still just as good, imho. : )

I am reading
. It is so interesting I am hooked. Also reading
another good read. I am thoroughly enjoying the both of these books.

I hope you are enjoying this one, Sue--it was one of my favorite books (and one of the best I read) the year it came out!

Temporarily stepping aside from mystery for a new romance trilogy by Vicki Lewis Thompson, Wanted!, Ambushed! and Claimed!. They seemed perfect for the HOT and HUMID weather we are currently "enjoying". If nothing else, they're very pretty to look at. *Wicked Evil Grin*

I just got Jeaniene Frost's First Drop of Crimson. I've never read anything of hers, and the reviews have been very good. I'm sure it will be very different from Gaudy Night which I'm also reading!

I'm really enjoying it, Heather. If I had time, I'd read it one shot. Definitely one of my favorite books this year.
Sue wrote: "I'm reading The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society right now."This was a 5 star read for me. Definitely a very very good book.
Heather L - If you like good historical romances (and some modern ones too), I'd recommend a good friend of mine's books - Maureen McKade! She writes really well.
Caroline: Thanks for the suggestion. I don't think I've read anything by McKade before, but will be sure to look her up. I do like the occasional historical, but all my friends write contemporary romance and/or romantica.
Just read the first three chapters in Blindsighted by Karin Slaughter. This book wastes no time getting started! I've heard this is an excellent series and am enjoying the first book so far.
Suzanne wrote: "Just read the first three chapters in Blindsighted by Karin Slaughter. This book wastes no time getting started! I've heard this is an excellent series and am enjoying..."I love this book and the whole series has been great! You will not be disappointed!
I finished my third Trixie Belden book and picked Shelf Life: Romance, Mystery, Drama, and Other Page-Turning Adventures from a Year in a Bookstore to start next. I love "books about books".
Suzanne wrote: "Just read the first three chapters in Blindsighted by Karin Slaughter. This book wastes no time getting started! I've heard this is an excellent series and am enjoying..."It really is a good series. Hard to put down once you start!!

I read "It's All About Him" by Denise Jackson. Very inspiring book. (And Alan Jackson is one of my fav singers)
I whipped through a very short book called Spirit of Animals by Sylvia Browne and her son, Chris Dufresne. It was one of those little gift books (so not worth the $24.95 sticker price but I got it from the library). The main message is that we will see our beloved pets on "the other side". They do explain in a couple sentences what totem animals are and they cover very briefly a couple animals. Do not get this thinking it is anything like Ted Andrews books on animals.

I was on vacation for a week in Door County WI. I missed my internet :)

I've never been to Door County, but think it's a place I'd like to visit!

Lucky you! I love Door County!!
If you like antiques and/or wine, Door County is a nice place to visit. I unfortunatley am not a huge fan of either! I did enjoy time with my family though :) Kaye I really liked Holly's Inbox. Once you get used to the emails, and know who is who, it picks up and is quite cute.
I've just started Smash Cut. I used to read Sandra Brown alot back years ago. I haven't read her in so long I thought I'd try this one. Before I found series reading and cozies--Romantic suspense was my genre of choice.
Wow, just finished Blindsighted by Karin Slaughter and feel like I've been wrung out emotionally! What an intense mystery / thriller! Excellent character development - I really started feeling for Jeffery, Sara, Lena, etc. I will be definitely continuing this series!
Reading The Kitchen House by Kathleen Grissom. I've been reading only cozies for the last 12 books or so, so I thought I would stray from reading them and reserved this from my library. Read excellent reviews for it and so far it is a good read. I'm not loving it like so many others have said they do, but am willing to give it more time.
Right now I'm reading Dreamland. It was pretty boring at first, but it's starting to get interesting.

I think it kind of has the feeling of Roots by Alex Haley but with the twist that there can be white slavery too. I hope that the story picks up for you, it was one of my 5 star reads so far this year.
I had ordered a book called The Library Card by Jerry Spinelli. It turned out to be a children's book but I read it anyway. There were 4 very different stories about kid's and the library/books. The first three were pretty good, the last one really didn't fit with the others. This book would probably be good for ages 10-12.Next up is The Witch Doctor's Wife by Tamar Myers. Oh my goodness what a difference from her other series. I haven't read the Magdalena Yoder series (I read one and really didn't like it) but do like the Den of Antiquity series. This new series is set in the Congo in Africa. Apparently Myers grew up in Africa and draws from her own experiences in this book. I'm not sure if this will fit as a cozy mystery (I'm not even sure it is a mystery yet) but it is a very interesting read and you get a lot of information about people and life much different from what you see in the U.S. It isn't as "fast" a read as some but I like it a lot.

That is such a good book! I think I heard they are making either a TV show or a movie from it. I hope there is another book coming though!
