When you're not reading a cozy....
Right now I'm reading
by Stacey Jay, the second book in a series about evil fairies taking over the world. Well that's not everything exactly but it's what happens in a nutshell. I've had this book on my TBR for a REALLY long time since I couldn't find it anywhere but I finally found it at a used book store. Which is why I LOVE used book stores so much! Just when you think you'll never find a book you want in paperback, BAM there it is! I'm probably going to use this book for the March challenge since it's been on my TBR for a long time.

I like having books that might get re-reads on my Nook as the HCs are big and cumbersome to lug around.
Now reading
which is written by Melinda Snodgrass under a pen name. Newly minted lawyer goes to work for a well heeled NYC law firm that is run by vampires. Vamps, werewolves and Fae are all out in the open in this world
I'm about halfway through Northern Lights by Nora Roberts, one of hers I missed when it was originally out.
I just finished Into Thin Air: A Personal Account of the Mount Everest Disaster by Jon Krakauer. An amazing book about one of the darkest pages in the history of Mount Everest. My full review can be read here.

Krakauer is really good. I read his
Under the Banner of Heaven: A Story of Violent Faith, a book about polygamy, a few years ago and really liked it. He has the ability to make non-fiction as readable as fiction, like Erik Larson does.
Just started
in paperback for the March mini challenge. The cover on this version knocks the stuffing out of the current relatively generic covers. I haven't finished This Case is Gonna Kill Me yet. I had to power down the Nook last night so....gasp....I had to dip into the HC/PB collection for something to read. This has been in my collection since this version was published in the 1970s. The book was written and originally published in 1957. I was only 3 at the time and it was a bit above my reading level at the time. :)
Just finished
Night of the Crabs by Guy N. Smith https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
What fun! Really took me back to my childhood watching monster movies with my dad.
Just finished reading
The Italian Boy: A Tale of Murder and Body Snatching in 1830s London by Sarah Wise. Here's my review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
I found it really interesting. It's part true crime, part history, and part social commentary. I highly recommend it.

Diana wrote: "Any one recommend any new Fun Cozy series ?!"I just recently finished

Recently finished Killing Reagan: The Violent Assault That Changed a Presidency. Interesting, but did not care for it as much as previous books by these authors - hard to express why.
I finished reading my Kindle Unlimited selection
The Frozen Sky by Jeff Carlson last night. My review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
I've been going between reading a cozy and reading
by Ann Moore which is a historical fiction novel set in 1840's Ireland. So far it's a very good novel.
I needed a bit of a break from cozies, so I picked up:
Burned by Ellen Hopkins a "tad bit" depressing but I'm going to try to work my way through it and then decide if I want to go on to book 2..which I also rented from the library. :-)
❂ Jennifer wrote: "I finished and loved Fire Touched this week and I'm currently reading Marked in Flesh. So. good."Almost done with FIRE TOUCHED and it's definitely a good one!
Just finished reading
The Secret Chord by Geraldine Brooks. My review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

Glad to know. I'll read them... in a near future, I hope ☹, although I think Shelly Laurenston (and Nora Roberts) will go before.

Melodie: I have yet to read anything in that series by Patricia Briggs, I have the first one on my Nook in the TBR. How is the series generally?
Gary wrote: "Melodie: I have yet to read anything in that series by Patricia Briggs, I have the first one on my Nook in the TBR. How is the series generally?"Well if you enjoy urban fantasy then it'll definitely be up your alley. It's about a female mechanic Mercy who's a coyote shifter and always manages to get herself involved in all kinds of trouble. There's also a little bit of everything in it romance, mystery, drama and absolutely scads of action. It's one of my favorite series' ever :D.
Thanks Lacey:I have a number of urban fantasy Book 1s in my TBR. Moon Called by Patricia Briggs as well as Spider's Bite by Jennifer Estep, Dead Witch Walking by Kim Harrison and Skinwalker by Faith Hunter and some others I have forgotten.
Gary wrote: "Melodie: I have yet to read anything in that series by Patricia Briggs, I have the first one on my Nook in the TBR. How is the series generally?"One of my favorites! As Lacey says, if you like urban fantasy picking up this series is a no-brainer! Also really like the companion Alpha & Omega series she writes. I liked Harrison's The Hollows series for awhile, but grew tired of it.

If you're unsure about the Mercy Thompson series (which I highly recommend fwiw) I'd suggest checking out the first 'book' of the Alpha & Omega series. It's a short story, so you get a taste of Briggs' writing, and it's set in the same universe with characters that frequently cross over to the Thompson series. I actually prefer the Alpha/Omega series just a tiny bit over Mercy.
I finished Marked in Flesh - so so good, and am almost finished with The Tale of the Dueling Neurosurgeons: The History of the Human Brain as Revealed by True Stories of Trauma, Madness, and Recovery which is also excellent - although in a completely different way. :)
Just finished reading
Devil's Gate by Clive Cussler yesterday. I really enjoy Cussler's books but this is not the best in the series.https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

When he lived in Golden he always did book signings around town here. I used to go to them all the time and he got to where he recognized me. He was a hoot!

❂ Jennifer wrote: "I finished Marked in Flesh - so so good, and am almost finished with [book:The Tale of the Dueling Neurosurgeons: The History of the Human Brain as Revealed by True Stories of Traum..."Jennifer - Sounds terrific. Will read. I'd be interested in ANY sciency mystery book. Charlene
Earlier today I finished
. The ending of the first story arc in the story of Ree Reyes. Three novels and one novella in the series. I hope the author, Michael Underwood, comes back to the series soon. I will need another visit to Ree and her friends in the near future. The only series similar to this for me is Annie Bellet's 20 Sided Sorceress series. Thankfully I still have 3 or 4 in Annie's series left to read.
