I've been listening to No Dominion
by Charlie Huston (a vampire noir) and reading Two Way Cut
by Peter Turnbull (a police procedural set in Glasgow, Scotland)

I'm currently reading (almost finished) Dark Debt and finished Dead Heat on Friday - both of them excellent reads!

Melodie wrote: "Good to hear DARK DEBT is good. Didn't care much for the last full-length book!..."Just finished it last night - so much great snark - I was laughing out loud in a couple of places.
After about 1/3 of the way through the book, I sort of dreaded where it was going, but the author did something different that what I expected and it ended up being a great story line. Plus, more Mallory! :)
Finished The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde by Robert Louis Stevenson over the weekend. Not quite what I was expecting, but pretty good.
I started reading The Buried Giant
by Kazuo Ishiguro yesterday. I also started reading Deadly Memories
by S.D. O'Donnell.

I'm planning to read that next, as soon as I finish A Week in Winter by Maeve Binchy. ☺

I enjoyed it! Too much, I'm afraid ☺ Because I was up yesterday night till I finished it, and I'm a bit zombie today.

I've been listening to The Master and Margarita
by Mikhail Bulgakov as part of the 1001 Books to Read Before You Die challenge.

See, THIS is why I cannot start it until Friday -- because I KNOW I'll be up at least half the night reading it. :-/

I think at the age of 14 or 15 when I read it, I probably was wishing I was reading Gidget or Seventeen magazine. Maybe I'll give it another try since my taste in books has matured along with my age.

It's great isn't it? I enjoyed it much more than I enjoyed the last one.
@ Heather: I was the same way with the latest Others novel Vision in Silver - I made myself stay away from the book until Thursday night when I knew I could stay up all hours reading it without worrying about work. :)

Yes, I enjoyed more, too. And it's great for me (although not for my sleep ;) )

I enjoyed a lot the first one, but second and third one are in my TBR, I don't know, I haven't had the mood.

The Girl in the Empty Dress, Bennett Sisters Book Two by Lise McClendon
.$2.99 on Amazon

I'm reading Rock Hard now. I don't usually read contemporary romance, but I've taken an exception with her and I'm liking it (in the same way I began to read her Guild books when I'm fed up with vampires).
I'm currently reading
. It's a novelized historical book about a Polish woman who saved many Jewish children in Warsaw during the Holocaust and the three Kansas high-school girls who brought her to national attention. I am really enjoying it so far.
I read just about anything. I read crime, mystery, thrillers, dramas, romance, cozies, non-fiction, best sellers, Christian, YA, some fantasy and magic etc. About the only thing I don't read is Horror and books with lots of graphic sex. Right now I am reading
,
and
. I plan to start
,
and
when I am finished with the first three. Ambitious, yes, but I am retired.

I loved it - it wasn't like anything I'd ever read before (keeping in mind my reading isn't nearly as varied as yours is Melodie) and it really just made me feel like a kid reading a fairy tale (or something).
I'm currently reading Last Days of Summer and I'm loving it - about 1/3 of the way through it and it's excellent - funny and oftentimes very moving without making me weepy at all.If you are a fan of the 40's era, and you like baseball (or at least don't dislike it) it might be worth checking out. Some profanity in it though, for those that are sensitive to the use of colorful language.
I'll check about Mr. Penumbra's 24-Hour Bookstore, because it's in my pile, but I think I began to read it but...

Yay!!!! This is one of my all time favorite books and no one has read it. I actually sent it around to a group of people in my YA group because I wanted others to read it! They all loved it.
Continued reading The Boat of A Million Years
by Poul Anderson and Mystic River
by Dennis Lehane yesterday.

Heidi I can relate! I read it years ago. Lol That is so true on feeling like no one has read it. I had to gift it to my friends as well. I agree, hands down, one of my fave books of all time. I love that book. :)

Just finished A Week in Winter by Maeve Binchy (LOVED IT!), and am ready to start Dead Heat by Patricia Briggs.
I finished Tales of the South Pacific by James A. Michener last night. It started a little slow but got better as it went on. I'm planning on starting The Crucible by Arthur Miller tonight.

I'm almost finished with it, and truly the book is freaking brilliant!! I've already told my husband he has to read it - it's a condition of our continuing marriage. ;-)
