How far in advance to send a press release

Alessandra Torre has a marketing course (its cheap) with a ton of advice and how to for all this. It’s completely worth it.
I worked in the ad business for years. If this is your debut book, 2 weeks in advance is to long. People will forget unless you already have a large audience from other book releases. If the book is on pre-order now, do it now. If it's a debut novel without a large audience, wait until after the book releases so you can include some quotes from reviews and help drive more sales after the initial purchases.

Thanks for clarifying the correct way to do this because I've got a pre-order coming up in a couple of months and I was thinking of running a press-release. Thanks!

My co-author and I are in the process of having a marketing company send out a press release for our new book, which comes out on September 25th. When should the press release go out? 3 days in advance? A week in advance? Something else? We were thinking right after Labor Day, but that's 2 weeks in advance. Should we wait another week or more? Please help. Any advice would be much appreciated.
