this is a book from around 2017/2018 that i saw once talked about in a booktube video but i dont remember what video i saw it in, what it was called or who the author was. i think the cover was orange. i've spent the last few days spending hours searching so if anyone can put me out of my misery please do.

No sorry I don’t remember why! I don’t think it’s explained in the premise. It’s a contemporary book though with this small aspect of fantasy
