Do abridged editions go into the series equivalent?

I've read this book,

It was an abridged, children's edition. But, it is nowhere listed to the parent series of Sherlock Holmes (un-numbered)

Or even aligned with the series equivalent

I'm confused about how to tag this into the series.

Abridgements get combined with their original editions. However, these are actually adaptations. I don't believe it should be mixed in with the true Conan Doyle stories.

Furthermore, Great Illustrated Classics is not a valid series by GR standards.

The whole series is invalid, right? That's what I thought. Let me ask about this in the series queries.
