Could it be "The Blood Keeper" from Tessa Gratton's "The Blood Journals" series? It's about a witch who lives in secluded Kansas and grows close to a guy named Wil.

Yes!! I never knew it was the second book in a series either!

(view spoiler)[The book starts out following I believe a young high school aged boy who is visiting a lake with his dog and he gets attacked by a earth construct. The construct was made by a young long blonde haired female witch whose name I believe starts with an M. Like Maab or Morgan Le Fay type name. I believe it's set in modern time. I think at one point she casts a spell of protection where she slices her palms and feet and womb. She feels more alive/less sick if she's in contact with plants. I think one time she went to a market to sell crystals. I don't really remember what the conflict in this book was. I think when the young man got attacked by the construct it cursed him or something like that. (hide spoiler)]
