I haven't read this one yet. I've enjoyed some other titles of Ann Rinaldi, though! I'll have to pick this one up. :-)
When I first read it years ago, I thought it was really good. I ended up researching the main character and her father further.
I'll be glad if I can make this one because I've tried it before and just couldn't get into it. But I know I have picky reading mood swings, so doing a group read should help!
This one isn't among my top favorites (Fifth of March, Secret of Sarah Revere, Wolf By the Ears). I haven't read it in years. I always thought John Brown was a great hero but when I learned more about him, I realized he was crazy. I feel bad for his surviving family. What I never knew was that the Brown women spent time with the Alcotts in Concord.
