Melody Groves | 4 comments Thats all I really remember about this book. The kids come home from school and their mother is not there. The mother gets into a car accident and has no identification so they don't know who she is at the hospital. Im pretty sure shes in a coma. The kids have no idea where she is. Something happens that makes the power go out, I think in the entire country. The kids decide to travel across the country I think to a relatives house. The rest of the book is about their journey and the events and people they encounter on the way.

Rainbowheart | 28672 comments Kinda sounds like The Secret, although I'm not sure all the details match.

Did you rule out The Secret by Ruth Thomas?

Alan (alanjc) | 483 comments Could you give a timeframe in which you read this? Or how old you think the book is? Or anything about its origins? (American, British, etc.).

There is an Australian book that fits this closely, called When The City Stopped, by Joan Phipson. It is possible that it was published in the US as Keep Calm, but this does not appear on Goodreads (though it is listed as an alternate title for the book on LibraryThing). It seems a pretty obscure book, though.

The book can be viewed under its original time (WTCS) on Open Library.
