SOLVED. YA book about girl whose family loses money and moves to apartment in city [s]

Hi all! A book I read as a young adult (probably early 2000s?) recently popped into my head and I can only remember scant details and google isn’t helping. What I remember: a rich girl’s father loses his job in a modern-day stock market crash and they have to sell their country homes and move to an apartment in the city. It either was New York City or unspecified. She had a mean man as a neighbor and I think became friends with a wealthier neighbor her age? All I remember is at the end, (plot spoiler) the man is keeping a cheetah illegally in his apartment.

This is so random, but if anyone has any clue what this book is I’d really appreciate it. Thank you!

Not a series, and I don’t have any idea what the cover looks like unfortunately.

One line that stood out to me is her saying that people referred to the stock market crash as black Monday; “for us it had been Black Tuesday to Tuesday ever since” or something to that effect.
