I just finished this book. It took me a lot longer to finish that I would have expected. I have some mixed thoughts on the book. I liked it, but there were so many boring parts that I almost quit reading. Then it would be creepy and I would enjoy it, followed again by the boring parts. Also, with (view spoiler)

I know that there is a sequel to this book. I would be curious to know if anyone has read it and their thoughts on it.

Greg | 14 comments There are a couple of connecting books. involving the kids from SUMMER OF NIGHT as grown-ups. They are: CHILDREN OF THE NIGHT, FIRES OF EDEN and then the book that could be considered its prequel or sequel, A WINTER HAUNTING .

All of these are definitely worth reading and A WINTER HAUNTING (although almost a complete opposite tone and setting) is a must read in my opinion.

It was definitely slow burn, but there were some parts that genuinely creeped me out.

I finished last night.

Definitely a slow burn. But, I felt that as the book progressed, I found myself becoming more invested in the characters and developing plot.

Despite the slow start. I really enjoyed it.

Ron Roland | 9 comments Great summer read and reminded me of one of my favorite books, “Something Wicked This Way Comes.” Loved feeling like a kid again. Some of the action pieces were hard to visualize, unlike other Dan Simmons books IMO.
