I started pretty late with this years competition but it's fun!

Since I'm on app 95% of time I just saw this...but count me in.
I'm in! Been having a lot of fun with it! The new audiobook rule is definitely going to take down my numbers a tad, but it definitely makes sense. Lots of fun to see how many pages I've been reading and how quickly.
I'd like to join in next year. This year the pressure to buddy read was a bit much to be honest, but I like the rule changes. Mostly for me it's just a great way to feel involved in the group and get to know members. Especially for the less prolific readers like myself, who can't join in as many BRs.
I think I’m going to bow out of Year Two. I’ll still be up for some buddy reads though.
Maybe a stupid question, but are there other challenges ending this year, besides this one?

I'm afraid I'm going to bow out and not participate next year after all. Life is pulling me in too many different directions and I don't want to commit to something I'm not going to follow through on. Sorry.

I think year one should give the mods a good idea of everyone's pace rather than what we actually committed or said we do before the year started. So that sensation I think should be less of an issue in year 2. I know at times I've felt like I haven't kept pace, but the adjusted scoring system levels the field a bit :)

Yes you'll be drafted off of this year. So just try to maintain that pace and if you can't because the real world gets in the way, oh well, it's just for fun.

Any contribution you make helps your team. I've never felt like you were dragging us down. And like Scott said, it's just for fun :)

Samir, I've read less then you and I'm still taking part. I always check to see how many points you are on. You're always about 10 more than me. All the points help the teams. Look how close it's been for the last month for second place.
Like Scott said, it's just for fun. I limit myself to 1-2 buddy reads a month.

The solo rankings don't even matter outside of personal goals... some of us just get really competitive about things that don't even matter... my goal of 2000 points by Halloween affects the team rankings very little... Me, Choko, Julia and Arkadeb are the top 4 scorers this year, and none of us are on the winning team...
I would just like to clarify that although this year's average is 261 pages/day - I just checked - next year is going to be very busy and it will be on an average 50-max 75pages per day next year. So please take that into account while drafting me into a team.
I'm maybe way to early, but when will we know in what teams we are going to be?

I really wanna join this, though I'm not sure if I'm reading enough to contribute with anything... what level of reader do you have to be? I had a big slump in the spring, but I've read about 50 books this year, would that be enough?Also, if it wasn't obvious, I'm new but have over 100 posts

Yes! As Rob said, do join! The teams will be built taking into account your reading speed, so anyone can participate, really. Even if you read just 10 books a year (which is still most than like 70% of humankind lol), you're still welcome :DAs someone who applied for Year 1 right after joining the group, you'll get amazing team support and get to know the members of this group :)
And I'm not saying this because it'll give me one more scoresheet to mess with... No no no!
Can someone point me to the rules for the Team Comp? I read plenty but I'm not sure what I need to do to in it.

The rules are here. It's basically points for each book you read, with bonus for buddy-reads/challenge/written books (as opposed to audio).
This year, the competition lasted from January to end of October; I'll expect it'll be the same in 2019.

If you don't want to, you can always ask if a team-member will update your spreadsheet for you once in a while. Depending on which team you end up in, you get a crazy stalker to fill your spreadsheet for you in real time (yes, I'm talking about me)
LOL Okay! I'm in for next year.
Next year, I plan on leaving my GR goal at 200 books and investing more time into other interests.
Book Stats pulled from GR (So Not Entirely Accurate)
2017: 329 books, 68,753 pages
2018: 381 books, 135,602 pages (Count as of Today)
Most of my books have become audio-reads but I tend to read & listen to books that I like.

When is the deadline for signing up?I like to sign up! Did 378 points last year. So Im not the slowest, nor the fastest reader. But love reading regardless!
