SOLVED. Fiction: A man has family kidnapped and locked a prison he designed [s]

This is a fiction book I read maybe 2-3 years ago about a family of 4 that is kidnapped from their home and locked in a state of the art prison is that is not yet open. The dad/husband designed the prison and it turns out he arranged the kidnapping. He was supposed to make it out alive but ends up getting killed in a shoot-out at the end and the rest of his family survives.
