So many to choose from! I had to make a hard choice - if John Prine had managed to work the word "peaches" into the title of "Spanish Pipedream" it'd have been no contest. If this isn't okay, I can change it.

Challenge!
Poke isn’t a veg or fruit

Wiki:
Poke began with fishermen seasoning the cut-offs from their catch to serve as a snack.Traditional poke seasonings have been heavily influenced by Japanese and other Asian cuisines. These include soy sauce, green onions, and sesame oil. Others include furikake (mix of dried fish, sesame seeds, and dried seaweed), chopped dried or fresh chili pepper, limu (seaweed), sea salt, inamona (roasted crushed candlenut), fish eggs, wasabi, and Maui onions. Other variations of poke may include cured heʻe (octopus), other types of raw tuna, raw salmon and various kinds of shellfish.

Traditional Hawaiian poke may consist of cubed raw fish, maui onions, Inamona (a condiment made of roasted, salted candlenut), Limu (algae), soy sauce, green onions, or sesame oil. Some of the more contemporary variations can also include seaweed, Roe (fish eggs), wasabi, dried or fresh chilli, toasted macadamia nut, Furikake and can be served alone or on top of a bed of white rice, pineapple, Sushi-meshi (seasoned rice) or red cabbage. The possibilities for variation are endless.

Brass Neck | 3605 comments 'Traditionally, the term to describe the type of food highlighted in the song is polk or poke sallet, a cooked greens dish made from pokeweed.' 'Sallet is an old English word that means "cooked greens,"] not to be mistaken for "salad"; in fact, a great many cases of pokeweed poisoning result from this linguistic mistake. While it may be that record companies labeled the song "salad," the dish in question was a "sallet" made of pokeweed'

OK I’ll let you off. It’s somewhat dodgy though:

“Children are most frequently poisoned... [and] Infants are especially sensitive and have died from eating only a few raw berries. Although boiled young shoots have been eaten as greens and berries cooked in pie, ingestion of any part of the plant cannot be recommended. Adults have been poisoned, sometimes fatally, by eating improperly prepared leaves and shoots, especially if part of the root is harvested with the shoot, and by mistaking the root for an edible tuber."
