Unknown Books and Unknown Authors

I still find sometimes (not much often now, tbh, but there are still some) the Unknown Books by Unknown Authors that were originated by the deletion of all Amazon data in early 2012.
I remember that staff said these should be fixed then with the data from Amazon coming back, I wanted to know if it's still true. Some of them may even be duplicates now (maybe the ISBN was found missing and was added manually in the meantime)

I've definitely run into this, there have been duplicates made when the old ISBN was re-introduced into the database.

So the way to handle the rest is, if it's not clear from the log, try to contact the users that shelved them (if there's any)?

That's certainly an option.

you can sometimes find editions that still have covers and/or titles and/or authors attached. even ISBNs. i don't think all that are fixable have been fixed.

I meant, all that are fixable by Amazon data. Not by any other means.

i wouldn't even say that's true. it took me 30 seconds to find this example:

Note that Amazon's get-a-copy link provides a book with an author, title, and cover.

The issue is most likely not at the Goodreads end of things.

Yeah, I have to say I am still finding Unknown books that have ISBNs. And more with no ISBNs but titles, which are not all that hard to track down.

Today I found one with an ASIN and one with an ISBN published by Createspace....

So obviously something is not working correctly.

Yep, I fixed one yesterday that had all the info except Author.
