'add new author' does not work

Hello,
I am trying to add a second author to Viridian Gate Online: Books #1 - 3 as the first author is a Pseudonym of James A. Hunter.
But it fails.
After hitting 'save' it claims it was saved, but no second author appears and nothing is added to the change log.
Does anyone know why?

When the names are very similiar you need to play around until you can get it to save, then change it to the name you want.

So try something nearly correct like James A. Punter. Just a suggestion of course. I sometimes have to try 3 or so names until it will save.

It also usually works to initially save without the spaces, e.g. JamesA.Hunter.

Not my idea. One of the other librarians mentioned it a few months back. I have since been using it instead of my old temptemp method.

Just the first name will work, too, and then add the last name on an edit. The similarity seems to key off the surname.
