Antonomasia | 514 comments Just found that the George Smiley series has been deleted. Can't quite believe that someone would remove such a well-known series... I can't find any debate on here as to whether or not it's a series. Any other place to check?

ETA - another question: Do collected volumes containing more than one work from a series and also works that aren't in that series count as non-primary works, or should they not be included in the series?

I have re-instated the series.

Z-squared | 8575 comments They count as non-primary, but they should still be included.

There's no other place to check for a series deletion, I'm afraid. I'm guessing it was a mistake?

Banjomike | 5166 comments It looks like a series named "George Smiley" was renamed to "The Karla Trilogy" and then 5 non-Karla books were removed from the list.

https://www.goodreads.com/series/1014...

So presumably the someone in question was too lazy to create a Karla series and just screwed up another one.

Z-squared | 8575 comments hmmm. and there's no way to flag changes in the series log, is there?

There is. There's a small "flag" link on the edits made.

ETA: There are also flag links on the page listing all a specific librarian's edits beside each change.

No mistake. They also removed the George Smiley series data from the titles of 2 books.

Antonomasia | 514 comments The Karla series used to be there alongside the George Smiley series. The series number in my browser history for the former Smiley series was 87753 and that now simply shows up as the red 'oops we couldn't find that series' error message. (That's how I found it had gone.) So I wonder if the existing Karla series (which has a later number) was also modified after that as it has a different series number.
