Vicky I am currently reading the 3rd in the series by Royal Flush. Georgiana is smart and sassy, but she feels like an old maid at the age of 22. 22! Oh, to be 22 again! I don't know if she is going to get her man in this one, but I am sure she'll solve the mystery.

Who Knew? Deluxe Almanac "Money Savings" Holiday Gift Set Bruce Lubin 2013 I am also reading this book. They give a boat load of money saving home tips. I have learned a lot. You won't believe the miracles you can do with a bottle of white vinegar or a tube of white non-gel toothpaste. This book was a Christmas gift from a dear friend of mine - two years ago! So many books and so little time!

Vicky As I mentioned I just finished The Bear and the Nightingale. It is a definite keeper! I am still finishing up the Who New Almanac. I am getting a lot of money saving tips. I have to confess that I have been a bad girl lately. My daughter got me a 700 puzzle word search book and I have been addicted. But, I am going to practice moderation.

Vicky As I mentioned The Bear and the Nightingale and it was fabulous. Russian folklore and magic, etc.
I finished the Who Knew Almanac today. There has to be at least 1000 helpful tips in the 644 pages. Did you know that white toothpaste (not gel. the authors make that very clear), vinegar, and baking soda are miracle workers for many different things. Many of the ideas I plan to use myself. If I were to give the book a rating overall it would be a 3 of 5 stars. Here's why: the content was great and really helpful, but the grammar, spelling, missing words, or words put in the sentence that didn't fit happened a LOT. I am a spelling and grammar freak so I found that irritating. I hope in their future, they will get someone who can fix the errors before the book is printed.

Vicky I forgot to mention the I finished Fifty-Fifty by James Patterson and Candace Fox yesterday. This is the 3rd book that features Harriet Blue, an unorthodox Sydney police detective. Raised in a series of foster homes she has quite the mouth, the attitude, and some serious fighting skills. She is doing her own private investigation to clear her brother of murder, but in the meantime gets sent to the desert boonies to solve an unusual murder. Fast-paced and well-written. This meets one of the parts of the Barrier Reef challenge.

Vicky Love Nancy Drew books! I am finishing Never Call Retreat Lee and Grant: The Final Victory A Novel of the Civil War by Newt Gingrich and William R. Fortschen. They also wrote Gettysburg and Grant Comes East. I didn't know when I picked this book up at our library used book store that it was the 3rd in the series, but it can be read on its own. I love history. I am also finishing a book DLyn picked out for me at our library book sale. I love this feisty 11 year old chemistry buff turned detective. She's a kick in the pants. The Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie (Flavia de Luce, #1) by Alan Bradley. Plan to read the 2nd book. DLyn got that one for me, too. Same sale.
