The story is told from the POV of Colquit, who with her husband, befriends the architect building a beautiful home next to their home. Strange things, subtle at first, begin happening in the upscale neighborhood and around the woodsy construction site. Once the home is occupied the nastiness escalates. Not just for the couple who live there but for the neighborhood. I believe the author was a woman and the book takes place in SE America. I think this book was written after 1980.
