Hannah (bookwormhannah) | 1151 comments Those are some excellent choices, Christine! Make sure you get the first book in the Eason series also, Oath of Honor. I'm expecting this entire series to be great!

Christine, I'd definitely follow Hannah's advice and secure a copy of Oath of Honor while you're asking for Called to Protect. It would be neat to binge-read them at some point.

Hannah, have you heard how many books will be in that series? I'm hoping for one each for the six siblings, but I haven't heard anything official.

Christine Hatfield (christinesbookshelves) | 61 comments Hannah I read the first book of the Blue Justice series and I agree with you and Andrea i’m definitly following Hannah’s advice and I gave that book away and it’s because I don’t like to read the same book again and Andrea you beat me in asking a question to Hannah lol

I just assumed it would be a series of six. Her last series was four, so I'm hoping that means the publisher isn't going to restrict her to a trilogy. :)

Christine Hatfield (christinesbookshelves) | 61 comments Lynnette Eason wrote three of those Blue Justice book series

Christine, the second Blue Justice book just released, so that's all there is right now. I'm hoping there will be several more to come.

Yes, slow and steady can be marvelous--I have done that far more times than go faster--I used to read the entire Bible once a year, for example, although the very first time I read it cover to cover I got so engrossed in Samuel, Kings and Chronicles I zipped through it like a novel--it was fun and exciting and why stifle that? Of course I had to study, go back and read more slowly, but it was exciting to me.

You can get revelation either way, actually, as I have discovered, and absorb either way once you have read it enough. I have been reading the Bible for over 35 years and have read it many, many times. After hearing so many people say slow only (minus one thoughtful person years ago--although many of the slower reading ones are also thoughtful!!!) I think there is a tendency to put God in a box with this sort of thing. Plus, we are all different. I am still taking time to think about what I read--it's not like I'm reading all those pages in 15 minutes! Many times I'm taking an hour--I do NOT ponder over reading one passage for an hour unless I am researching it with reference books because it's not how my brain and mind work best Plus, I often do best to mull things over afterward while walking. (PS I was already over 20 when I started reading it cover to cover, etc).

So, during this 2 month read I am focusing on a few specific things that come up over and over in scripture--I'm reading with a purpose, but I will stop and check out other things at times as well if God tells me to or I have a new question or want to review something. Some days I read more pages than others. But it is far easier to keep scope in mind at this speed.

One of the things I am focusing on this time is praise and most especially the musical portion of this as I have been put on a praise team and then conscripted to sing solos a couple of times a year. I did NOT seek this out as I have been called as a teacher. My son is going to major in trumpet, etc. and I have been taking voice lessons to use this talent better. I could just do another word study on it, but I am enjoying this way much better as it comes up in context, etc.

So today, for example, I was reading Psalms--and even at this rate didn't get half way through the book. However, I have read them enough over the years that I can even now recall a number of things that stood out to me this morning. Could I have done that 35 years ago? Of course not :). While my main focus has been praise, etc, I got excited some of my favourite psalms again and being reminded of how many times David and other psalmists poured their hearts out to God, about his mercy, etc. It is so big to see it so many times over and over for me, but other times one account can show me that it is larger than I can comprehend. An account that is larger than I can comprehend is when King Manasseh repented--according to Ezekiel that means he will be in the righteous category even though it was only for the last 2 years of his life--boggles my mind!!!!! We have to remember that the "sins of Manasseh" weren't just his sins, but the sins of many, and then his son went right back to them.

It was a really fun one, wasn't it? I wish I had extra time to read more WWII books for it, as that's one of my favorite genres. Do you have a favorite era to read about?

My favorite is WWII also! I very much enjoyed both of the WWII books I read this month. Salt to the Sea was a fresh approach so it was especially enjoyable to read a book written in a unique way.
