You're doing an amazing job Olivia. :) For the two ebook editions I think the covers are identical, just a slight differense in colour tone (could be caused by image compression) and cropping. FYI, slight gradation difference is due to different quality &/or size.

Also, I deliberately moved ISBNs to primary ebook & slated the other for deletion for the following reasons:

(1) Primary ebook had 2800+ adds whilst dup had less than 20.
(2) Primary ebook is also default edition. So deleting *that* would require extra steps to separate, then delete , then re-combine.
(3) GR was glitchy & timing out when I posted @ #775.

Believe that most know that when GR is on temporary fritz or Creepy Alice appears, certain edits like deleting or merging (especially w/ large # of adds) either hang, take forever, or never complete. Thus, I moved ISBNs to minimize frustration for whoever did my post.

Okey, here goes what's wrong:

The edition you have moved the ISBN to has a different cover.
Something that looks like pink blop in the top left cornet is actually 'LS' for the publisher (Loveswept which is Random House's imprint) that can be clearly seen on the publisher website for this ISBN:

Therefore my conclusion is:
- covers are not the same
- ISBN should not be moved
- ebook cover for ISBN 9780399593949 should be reloaded with better quality cover linked above

I have just found that google search would have located Amazon pages with that ASIN, as of course there isn't an equivalent of WorldCat for Kindle books published a fortnight ago. Will be useful to know in future if trying to find further details for Kindle editions quickly.

Forgive me if I felt it needlessly excessive to outline every step or plan when requesting deletion of a dup format.

Firstly, your response doesn't address the basic issue of a dup ebook format. It's still there.

Secondly, did you happen to notice who added publisher link to primary edition? Me.

Why? So I could double-check cover after dup deleted (b/c I'm very familiar w/ the Loveswept imprint & figured that it was placeholder).

Why? B/c sometimes, I've uploaded correct covers in past *before* requesting a delete & had the wrong edition deleted. Which required me to locate cover again & re-upload.

So now, there are still 2 ebook formats listed and only 1 has ISBNs. And therefore...?


ETA: Do I sound irritated? You bet. I simply asked for a dup ebook to be deleted & did what I could to make it as easy as possible for a sup to do so. Thanks so much.

The duplicated edition can be merge only if it exactly the same edition. When two editions have different covers, like in this case, there are not the same and therefore can not be merged.
Possibly one was ARC cover, or previous cover.
Either way the Goodreads policy is to keep all published covers.

Yes, 'published' being the operative word. Also, I suggest that you check date on which placeholder cover was uploaded.

I'm done here. Frankly, this has gone beyond what I intended, which was to simply clean up an author's book formats.

Published for this purpose would include ARC covers, and it's difficult to prove a negative -- especially when we know there were ARCs sent out.

Sure. But ARC edition would state it as such, no? So NetGalley isn't sufficient b/c not connected to Amazon? B/c I very much doubt 2800+ members received ARCs. Whilst the default/primary ebook edition *seems* to have been intended as 'final'.

More importantly, I know for a fact that placeholders/near-final covers (as this clearly is) have been deleted/replaced multiple times over. So IDK for certain what the issue is here, but can guess.

Regardless, I'm not the author or connected to the publisher so really, I don't care. I'll just correct cover in my own records.
