Ace nodded slightly. “Yeah. That was honestly terrifying. Especially since it was him...” he commented. He kept flying with her, debating if he should ask for her help with Hunt Because he was so lost on what happened and why they weren’t close now. He wasn’t sure what really he’d missed that had made it escalate so quickly.

"Yeah I know," Hailey replied with a nod. She wished with everything that he hasn't been hurt, that it could have happened to her instead. But they got it taken care of, he would be fine, she just knew it. She let out a small sigh, then glanced at him with a raise of her eyebrows."Is it just me or was there some tension between you and Hunt?"
Ace kept flying with her, glancing around. “Uhh. Yeah. There is. I’m not all that sure what caused it though.” He commented, thinking back to try and recall more of it all so maybe she could help him fix it.

"Uh huh. So it's him that's acting different then?" Hailey questioned with a small raise of her eyebrows, wanting to understand. It seemed like the two of them had been getting along so....what gives now?
“I guess. I don’t know.” Ace shrugged. “He’s just in a mood. I don’t know if I said something wrong or what.” He told her. “Hopefully it’ll settle back to normal soon.” He added optimistically.

"That's weird, when did you start to notice it?" Hailey asked with a small tilt of her head. Hunt was pretty much always nice to Ace, she couldn't remember the last time that they two of them fought or had, like, a tension between them. So this was really rare.
“Like yesterday when we got back. I don’t know..” ace frowned. “I probably just said the wrong thing and it’ll go back to how it was in a few days. Ace had done that at least once with most everyone. He’d try to be funny or uplifting but would say the wrong thing and upset them instead.

"I mean, I hope it will be. You know, you guys are perfect for each other after all," Hailey replied with a smile at him, looking forward afterwards so she knew she was going in the right direction,"But on the off chance that it doesn't, you know, you're gonna need to talk to him."
Ace sighed and nodded. “I know. I’m just giving it a Chance to see it it resolves itself or not first.” He explained softly. He kept flying with her. “I’m glad you and nick are finally figuring it out..”

"I get it," Hailey replied. She thought it was best to get the talking out of the way asap, but it wasn't like she was one to judge. She gave Nick hell a lot of the time after all. Blushing slightly at his words, she just shrugged and tried to play it off as nothing."I suppose." She was trying to fight off a smile though.
Ace smiled at the hint of a smile on her face. “You guys can make it work. We can all see it. Especially right now as he’s been hurt.” He commented and glanced at her.

Hailey frowned a bit, not thinking they had been that obvious about it. Though, then again....they were acting different than normal, right? Sleeping next to one another like that? Snuggling? Yeah, that was certainly different.
Ace shrugged at her. “You can just see that he felt so much better with you. We all know that you two might butt heads a bit but at the same time, you’re always after the best for all of us. But you two being together seems like it would be good for you both especially...” he commented as they kept flying, looking around.

Hailey listened to him, trying to think if that was true. Was that true? Did Nick seem to be doing better whenever she was around? With him being hurt anyways. Maybe..."I guess. I just don't wanna do anything he doesn't, you know? Like push him into something?" she said with a shrug. She wasn't sure, she was new to this whole thing.
Ace shrugged. “He’d do anything for you. You’re like the most important thing to him..” he answered softly, glancing at her. He didn’t think any of what he was saying was too much of a stretch. Nick clearly cared for her and considered her to be pretty important.

Hailey found herself blushing a bit from his words, clearing her throat and scratching behind her head. She glanced down quick to make sure they were still on course, adjusting a bit and lowering slightly as they were getting close to where the cabins would be."I wouldn't say he'd do anything....and there's a difference between doing it because someone wants you to and doing it because you want to," she replied.
“He wants to do anything for you. His focus is on the food of the group. But also on what’s best for you” ace assured. He looked around, unsure of where exactly they were going now.

"I guess...I dunno, really I just wanna work on getting him all fixed up so we can get stuff done," Hailey replied as she continued to get lower and lower, keeping an eye out for any sort of cabin. She knew kind of where the one Brandie had told them about was, but she wanted to check out the other ones at well.
“Yeah. That makes sense. We need him Feeling better.” Ace Agreed. He glanced around for cabins, pointing out a few as they got lower. He kept looking around, following Hailey’s lead on where they were gonna check out.

Hailey looked at the cabins that Ace point out, one in particular grabbing her attention. She motioned for him to start heading down and flew down towards the trees with him, making sure they were hidden well before dropping down. The last thing they needed was for someone to notice two kids flying around.
Ace followed. He dropped down the last bit to the ground and closed his wings. He looked around before starting to walk over to the cabin that she’s pointed out. He kept watching around him.

Hailey did as Ace did, tucking her wings in when she was close enough to the ground. Throwing on the hoodie she had grabbed before she left, she walked with him over towards the cabin. There were no cars besides an old pickup truck in the driveway and no noises coming from the cabin. They needed to be careful since they were doing this in broad daylight."Looks like they only use that car when someone is up here. See how beat up it is," she said, motioning towards the damage and dirt on the car.
Ace nodded. “Yeah.” He quietly got closer to the house, glancing it over. “Trash Cans aren’t outside so they’ve probably been gone a while. Same with the dirt and stuff on the porch..” he added, looking around quietly. He glanced at her. “Should we try and get inside, check and make sure there’s some supplies in there and not anything weird or suspicious?” He offered, glancing at the door and windows.

"Yeah that'd be a good idea. Front door is never a good option, but I saw some windows near the back," Hailey replied, moving back towards that area. She was able to reach the windows at her height, though as far as climbing in, well, either Ace would have to or she would need a boost. She tried the first 2 she saw but they were locked, it was the 3rd one, and the one that looked like it led to a bathroom, that opened up."I don't wanna risk an alarm being set off if we open up the front door. How about you climb in and then help me up?"
Ace followed her, letting her check the windows. “Alright.” He Agreed, coming over to the one she’d gotten open. He reached and pushed the window open as far as it would go before grabbing the sill and easily pulling himself up a bit to get inside. He wriggled his way inside easily and got back to his feet. He came back to the window and held his hands out to help pull her up. “Looks like it’s all dark inside too.” He commented to her, pretty confident that nobody was there.

Hailey moved away from the window so he could climb in first, glancing around as she waited for him to help her as well. Grabbing his hands, she pulled herself up with his help."Here's hoping," she replied, voice a bit strained as she worked on getting in the window, but she did a moment later. Fixing her shirt once they were in, she exited the bathroom and did a quick peak around the cabin, hearing nothing. No one appeared to be there which was good, but it would only matter if they had supplies. Cause sure they had some, but if she didn't have to go to the trouble of making runs into town, she would take it.
Ace helped her up and waited until she was solidly back on her feet before exiting the bathroom. He quickly and quietly went and checked near the front door and the door to the garage, making sure there wasn’t any sort of alarm system. He found none and returned to Hailey’s side. “No alarms. Which is a bit weird but not something to be concerned over.” He told her faintly, glancing around.

"Yeah a little weird, but I guess they assumed since it was just a hunting cabin there was no need for it?" Hailey suggested as a possible option, going into the kitchen. The electricity was shut off, since it wasn't in use, so there was nothing in the fridge. And while there were things in the cabinets, it was sparse. Good thing was is the cabin was in good condition for not being used for a while, clean and plenty of room."I think this is a good second option, we could do better."
“Fair point.” He Agreed. He followed her as she looked around, checking a couple cabinets and such of his own but coming up empty as well. Ace nodded. “Alright. Then we should probably head out the way we came and find the next place so we can check them all and figure out where we’re gonna stay today..” he said, moving to head back to the bathroom window so they could get out. He silently hoped that they could find another unlocked place that did have some supplies today so they would be set for a bit and not have to worry.

"Yep, let's go," Hailey replied, moving back to the bathroom. She let Ace go first, waiting until he was done so he could help her a bit. Climbing out, she lowered herself done so he was carrying her, closing the window while she had the chance before she let him drop her down. It was weird cause when it came to Ace, she didn't mind his help, though when it came to Hunt or Nick, well, it felt weird getting or accepting it. But with Ace it was totally chill.
Ace climbed out easily, letting himself drop down to the ground and easily landing on his feet. He helped her down easily, holding onto her so she could get the window shut before setting her on her feet. He didn’t mind helping her or any of the others, not really feeling uncomfortable around any of them. Except for with Hunt as of lately. He glanced at her before heading back away from the house and into the trees where they had a bit more cover for taking off. He made sure she was following before opening his wings and quickly flying up into the sky. He flew up high and looked around.

Hailey followed him, taking off the hoodie and tying it around her waist before following him up. She continued on the way, eyes scanning for another cabin that they could check. In some areas, they were clumped together pretty close, but this didn't seem to be the case from what she was seeing so far.
He scanned around and quietly pointed out some clearings he could see in the distance but he was unsure if they were just empty spaces or cabins. “They’re probably a bit more spread out if this area is all for hunting. Hunters like having their own property for traps and whatnot. I think at least..” ace commented with a shrug, suddenly thinking and curious about what sort of hunting happened up there and what the timing and rules of it were. He made a mental note to research it the next time he got access to a library.

"Yeah, every place is different just depending on where you go I suppose," Hailey replied, looking closely at a few spots Ace pointed out. She couldn't see much other than empty space so she lowered down a little bit more, still within safe distance in the sky of course though.
“Well need to look that up soon then.” Ace told her, shrugging. They’d need to know so they’d have an idea on when people were coming there so they could be gone if needed and not get surprised by visitors. He stayed within earshot, flying up a bit higher to instead get a wider view and see what all he could see. “There’s a few houses, a couple are up ahead and then there’s a more isolated one off to the left.” He called down to her, still looking around.

Hailey nodded, having noticed the one a little bit more off to the side."Let's go look at that one," she replied, flying in the direction of it and slowly lowering herself down as she did so. From what she could see so far there didn't even appear to be a car in the driveway.
Ace followed her, staying up high for a bit. He dove down as they got close, moving to be back next to her so they could watch each other’s backs. He glanced at her before back around as they neared the house. It didn’t have a car in the driveway or anything and looked like it had been sealed up for the winter at first glance at least. Ace dove down to land in the trees near the house so they could check it out.

Hailey went down after a bit to get a closer look, seeing there were, indeed, no cars. Good sign. There was no one outside either. So she decided to drop down, waiting for a moment behind the trees to see if she heard anything. There was no noise coming from the cabin so she decided to step out from behind the trees, approaching the back."Check out the inside?" she asked, motioning towards the windows that Ace would, again, need to help her get into. Unfortunately.
He closed his wings and waited for her go ahead. Once she said it was okay, ace approached the house, glancing around the outside before peeking in the windows. He tried them carefully, cautious of an alarm. He got one of them open and glanced at Hailey. “It looks empty inside too. Or at least nobody’s been there in a while. All the stuff is covered up but it sounds like something’s running. A fridge or something maybe.” He told her, moving to climb inside.

Hailey walked with him, letting him work on getting the window open and peering inside. He was taller anyways, it was easier for him to get in there. "Okay, let's get in there then," she replied, waiting for him.
Ace nodded. He climbed up and inside. He looked around again to make sure nothing seemed strange before moving and helping her inside. “Okay. Let’s check it out. Hopefully it’s got food and everything..”

Hailey waited patiently for him to get inside the house, reaching for his hands once they were offered to her. She pulled herself up with his help like last time, straightening herself up once she was there."Let's hope so," she replied, walking further into the house. It was larger than the other one and actually looked like it had two floors to it. That was promising at least.
Ace nodded slightly. He left the room they were in and began exploring the house. He saw no alarm system or anything so that was a good start. He checked through some of the other parts of the house first, figuring Hailey would go check the kitchen.

Hailey did indeed go to the kitchen to look and, like the last cabin, the fridge had been turned off since it wasn't hunting season. However, unlike the last cabin, this one actually had a decent amount of food. Mostly canned stuff, but there were some fancy hiking food that you added water to and it made it into a sort of meal, as well as some MRE looking things with a self heating unit. So that was good, certainly a step up from the other cabin.
Ace curiously went to the garage, pushing the door open. “There’s a freezer in here. Sounds like it’s running.” He called out to her. He went over and opened up the freezer, glancing at the labeled packages of meat inside, likely leftovers from the hunters last season. But none of it looked too bad and there was a decent bit of it. “More food in here!” He added, smiling s bit. This place seemed to have enough to last them a while at least.

Hailey started looking though a few of the packets, just to see if they were still good. They would eat expired food if they needed to, but it would be nice to have something still within a decent date."Yeah there's a he'll of a lot more food here, that's for sure," she called back to Ace, closing the cabinets and checking the water. It was still running. She flipped the light on as well. Still electricity too. Damn.
Ace closed up the freezer and came back to the kitchen. “I think we’re pretty well set here?” He commented, glancing st her. “We’ve got electricity and water, plenty of food for a while at least, and it’s pretty secluded here.” He observed softly, shrugging and waiting. It was her decision after all.

"It's certainly the best place we've found, everything is well stocked and still turned on. That makes me nervous that someone is coming back soon though," Hailey replied as she looked around, her eyes finding Ace as he came back."Of course, if someone is coming back, we'll have someone on watch and we can leave at the first sign of danger."
“Fair point.” Ace nodded. “There wasn’t a car in the garage. We can glance around outside and see if there’s any signs of recent people. And the watch thing is a good idea too..” He Agreed. “And we can always use this as a temporary place while we find where next to jump to anyways..” he added, thinking aloud. He smiled faintly at her.

"Yeah, okay. Let's do that," Hailey replied, going to the front door. There was still no sign of any alarm system so she went ahead and opened it, nothing happening. Sweet. Waiting for Ace to join her, she stepped outside to survey the front part of the house, looking for any sort of human or car tracks.
