“We’ll talk with them all when they wake up..” nick suggested faintly. He bit his lip lightly. “I’ll probably stay up with you for s bit if that’s alright with you?” He asked, glancing over at her. “Or you can rest and I’ll watch for a bit..”

Hailey listened to his words and just simply shrugged her shoulders."I'm fine to take first watch. You can stay up if you want, but you should get some amount of sleep tonight," she replied to him, glancing over at him as well before looking away.
Nick shrugged. “Can I stay by you?” He asked softly, glancing at her. He wanted to get some sleep, thinking that maybe it would help him feel better. But he just wanted to be closer to her too, making sure she was okay.

"If you really want to," Hailey grumbled a bit, not going to say no. She wasn't gonna be mean after all, well, she would try not to be. She had a short temper sometimes and easily got irritated.
Nick thanked her. He grabbed his blanket and laid within arms reach of her, not wanting to invade her bubble too much. He closed his eyes and quickly dozed off, trusting that Hailey would keep them safe for a bit.

Hailey did keep an eye out on everything, glancing at Nick a few times while he slept. Once half the time came up, she did go over and give Hunt a gentle nudge, knowing it wouldn't wake him up, but she didn't want it to anyways. This was she could still tell him she tried. Of course, he didn't wake so she went right back to her spot.
Nick heard the faint noise of her getting up and tiredly blinked awake. He stayed laying there, watching her get up and half heartedly attempt to wake Hunt. Once she came back over, he shifted and sat up slightly. “I can take over for a bit.” He offered softly.

Hailey looked over when she heard Nick, clearing her throat and rubbing her forehead a bit. She had been thinking so hard she gave herself a headache."No no, it's alright. You get back to sleep, you probably need it," she replied, taking into account how his wound was much more infected than hers.
“You need the rest too Hailey. It’ll help your shoulder.” He Mumbled, stretching and pulling his backpack over. Everyone was asleep so he figured he should probably check on his leg again, just to be safe and to hopefully please Hailey so she wouldn’t be so angry or upset. He pushed up his jeans and unwrapped the wound carefully.

"I will, I just have a lot on my mind right now Nick. Don't worry about it," she replied, running her fingers through her hair. Well, trying to anyways, it didn't work since it was so tangled. She would need to come by a brush or comb sometime in the near future. For now, she took it to one side and started working her was through to get the tangles out, it giving her something to do.
Nick nodded slightly. “well then, what’s on your mind?” He asked her curiously, keeping his voice down so they wouldn’t wake the others. He looked over his leg before wrapping the bandages back around it tightly and leaving it alone.

Hailey looked at him as she continued to work through her hair, thinking about it for a moment since she wasn't quite sure if she should answer. But she knew it would be best for them both if she got it out."Nick I think...I think you should take the role as leader now. I know it was never...set it stone since we got out, most of the others just started looking to me for answers from the get go.....But I think they should do that to you now," she said.
Nick leaned back against the wall and watched her as she worked through the knots in her hair. He bit his lip and raised an eyebrow at her comment. “Why do you think we should have them doing that instead?” He asked gently. He often came up with his own ideas but always ran them past Hailey first or brought them up in a way where she could just use them. He didn’t see any good reason why they should be looking to him first instead. Hailey was always in charge and he was her second. That’s how it was supposed to be, at least in his mind.

Hailey shrugged her shoulder a bit, sighing."Cause you keep your emotions in better than me....Cause you think things through better than I do....Cause I think....I think the others are getting sick of listening to me all the time. I may be good at an older sister, motherly friend type roll, but maybe I'm not as good of a leader as I hoped I was," she replied with a small sniffle, keeping on with her hair.
Nick kept quiet as he listened. He shook his head at her. “Come on Hailey. You’re a great leader.” He said softly. “You don’t have to keep your Emotions in check all the time. Plus, you’ve got to remember that we’re all kids, and we all have a bit of an issue with authority at times.” He told her. He ran a hand through his hair and tried to think of how better to convince her. Nick didn’t imagine that much would change if he stepped up a bit more, it just wasn’t something he wanted to take over from Hailey. He was way too willing to do something more risky.

"I am in some aspects Nick, I was a good leader when we had a home and my biggest challenge was getting Hunt to clean his damn room. But out here? I don't know about that one," Hailey replied, stopping with her hair and she cleared her throat a bit,"I just, I think it would be best. It's not like it would be much different, you can still come to me if you want a second option, I can still go to you if you if I have an idea, just like everyone else can. But I think it should be up to you what we do from now on."
Nick watched her and bit his lip. He finally relented and nodded. “Alright.. Just until we get back to a steady home though. Okay?” He offered as s compromise. He knew that would be a better balance for them. He could handle the stress and the quick choices of where to go and what to do to keep them safe but he felt that Hailey did a much better job at managing things when it was a bit calmer since she took care of a lot more of the normal human things that he often ignored.

Hailey relaxed a bit when he agreed to go through with it, glad for that so she wouldn't need to argue with him further."Thank you," she replied, reaching over for her backpack. She pulled out the papers that they had printed out earlier and reached over, giving them to him."That's everything we printed out about the companies we found and places we might wanna go."
Nick nodded. He thanked her and took the papers. “Okay. We should probably get moving to wherever we decide to go tomorrow if possible. If we stay around here too much longer, they might catch us again. And we can’t risk that.” He said softly. He started glancing through them, skimming them over to see the possible places they’d listed out.

"Yeah, that would be best," Hailey replied to his words. She wasn't sure how things would go with her letting Nick take over, the leader and, honestly, controlling part of her thought it was an awful idea, but her more logical part knew that it was best. She just needed to work on down playing stuff, which she knew would be hard for her to do....But it needed to be done.
“Alright.” Nick nodded. “You should try and get some rest..” he commented. “And if I get worse, you’re taking back over again.” He added after a second, worried a little bit about how his leg might get worse and actually make him sick or something. He kept going through the papers, seeing their options and trying to pick which area would seem best for them.

Hailey didn't want to sleep, she wanted Nick to get as much rest as possible. But she had given him the papers and knew that he wouldn't get much after that. So she agreed, reaching for her blanket and folding it up for a pillow, laying down."Wake me if you start feeling dizzy or tired or start hurting," she said, turning so she was facing away from him.
“I will.” Nick assured. He pulled his blanket over and gently covered Hailey with it so she could sleep. He continued looking over the papers once she laid down, glancing outside and keeping watch as well. He made a somewhat solid choice on where to go but he wanted to do more research on the area in the morning first, just to make sure they’d be alright there and what all was around.

(( Okay cool and I can (: ))"Are you feeling alright to fly? I mean, you won't be using your feet in there air, but still," Hailey questioned Zar as she stood next to her. The were just packing up the last of their things to head out to Washington, which they had decided earlier would be the best for them to go despite a lot of it's areas with the best research for the companies being in populated cities. They would be fine...hopefully. Her and Nick had, also, informed the flock that he would be taking over as leader from now on, but they could still talk to Hailey of course about stuff.
"Yeah I think I'll be alright," Zar replied with a small nod. She was standing now, but with the help of Faye who was offering her some support. She didn't know how she felt about Nick being the new one in charge, she was probably just bias cause he was a male and Hailey was the one who really got her out of the School the first time around and took care of her along with Zar. Either way she didn't think much would change anyways.
Nick quietly checked over all their supplies. Thankfully, they had just enough for them to carry so they wouldn’t really have to leave anything behind. He glanced at Ace and Hunt. “You two just about ready?” He asked, running a hand through his hair. He didn’t act any different than he had normally, not letting the fact that he was a leader change anything. He was limping a bit and looked a bit tired but he hid it as best as he could. Faye kept her arm around Zar, supporting her. “Worse comes to worse, we’ll stop for a bit if we need to.” She added softly, shrugging.

Hunt had just put his backpack on when Nick came over to him and, he had to admit, it was weird having Nick ask him instead of Hailey. It was....very weird. But he nodded his head."Yup, got everything packed and ready to set sail," he replied with a thumbs up at him, looking over at Ace.
"Yeah, but I should be fine," Zar replied with a nod, shifting her weight. It was very uncomfortable to walk still and having shoes on didn't help. Once she was about to go up she would probably take them off for comfort purposes.
"Okay, but if you do start, you know, feeling too tired make sure you tell Faye," Hailey replied to her with a nod.
Nick nodded. “Okay.” He went and checked on Cass and Vic before going and grabbing his stuff. “Alright. We should probably head out. Do you want to lead Hailey or do you want me to?” He asked, glancing over at her. Ace glanced at Hunt and rolled his eyes. “Set sail? Really? We’re flying. Not going on a boat.” He said a bit sarcastically, smiling at him.
Faye stayed right by Zar, trying to help hold up at least some of her weight so there wasn’t so much on her torn up feet. She didn’t want her hurting if it could be avoided.

"I know," Hunt replied to him sweetly, giving him his best innocent smile,"We're kinda sailing, you know, sailing through the air. That's a term people use, right?"Hailey looked to Nick when he asked that, instinctively going to say yes, but she caught herself and shook her head instead.
"Nah, I'll hang in the back to keep an eye out," she replied. This was gonna take some getting use to....but she was sure she'd get through it easy enough. Just...needed to step back.
Ace rolled his eyes. “Whatever. I think you’re a dork.” He commented. He rolled his shoulders, ready to get in the air and get up north and put some more distance between them and the School. Nick nodded to her. “Alright.” He smiled gently at her before easily hopping off the edge of the cliff and opening his wings and taking off. He flew up high, knowing ace and Hunt would be right behind, followed by Cass and Vic and then Faye, Zar and Hailey. They almost always stuck together and flew in the the same order. It was what they were used to, plus, it kept the youngest of them on the inside and made it easier for Nick and Hailey to watch out and deal with any possible threats.

Hunt waited for Nick to go and then he went right before Ace did, opening his wings and getting up into the air, waiting for Ace to catch up before he continued on, watching as the kids did it as well, then sticking together too."You go on ahead first Faye just in case something happens to her," Hailey said once it was their turn to exit, taking the task of supporting Zar as well as helping her get her shoes off so it would be a bit more comfortable for her. They would be flying a ways after all.
Ace looked around, stretching his arms out with his wings once he took off and flew up to join nick. He smiled a bit at Hunt. “So what game are we gonna play?” He asked. The two of them occasionally played random games, trying to spot stuff or keep count of something, just to have something to do. It kept ace from just zoning out or thinking too much so he wanted the distraction. Faye nodded slightly. She fixed how she carried her stuff and then took off. She hovered near the cave, not flying up to the others. She wanted Zar with her first, making sure that she would be alright.

Hunt looked to him when he asked that, thinking for a moment."I think you should count every crow you see and I'll count every....pigeon," he decided with a smile,"And as for a game....wanna do 20 questions? Or maybe the alphabet game?"
Hailey and Zar both waited while Faye flew up and once she did, Hailey took her hands off of Zar and took a few steps back so she didn't get hit with her wings. Zar was unsteady on her feet so she knew she could jump. Instead, like the kids, she let herself fall a few feet before opening her wings and pushing up. A good nights rest had helped her and she was fine for now, flying up to where Faye was.
Ace nodded. “Uhh. Either is good. You pick which one first.” He smiled softly and shrugged at him. He followed after nick, knowing the others weren’t far behind as they all spread out a bit. Faye watched her and smiled faintly. She flew up high to join the others after making sure she was alright. “Why are they switching roles?” She asked Zar, wondering if she had any idea. It was weird to her but didn’t really bother her. She trusted both of them and knew nick would do what was best for them, just like Hailey would.

You can choose the topic of choice and our first word," Hunt said as he started flying with him, not too close of course, didn't want their wings to get tangled after all.Zar followed her, glancing behind to make sure Hailey got up as well, which she did, staying a bit further back from everyone else though. Looking at Faye, she shrugged her shoulders.
"I have no idea. Maybe Hailey got...overwhelmed?" he suggested,"I don't know how I feel about Nick taking over, but I'm bias about it. Hailey took care of me so much along with you after all. But it'll be fine I'm sure, Nick is good at what he does. I'm not gonna start confiding in him of course, that's for you and Hailey."
“Hmmm. Okay.” Ace nodded. He tried to think of a good topic that would be challenging for them. “Vegetables.” He decided for the topic. “And. Well start with Asparagus.”Faye nodded slightly, glancing back to Hailey before back over at Zar. “Maybe. I don’t know. Either way, it’s not gonna change much. They practically co lead anyways. She’s just gonna be going to him for permission for ideas rather than the other way around. And we fly in a slightly different order. It’s Not that big of a change.” She commented as they flew together.

"Dang, my least favorite thing," Hunt replied with a chuckle, thinking of a vegetable. Since he didn't like them, this might be hard for him."Okay....banana peppers? Thats a thing right?""No it probably won't," Zar agreed as she flew next to Faye, enjoying the feeling of the breeze on her sore feet. It was actually quite nice and she was glad that she had taken off her shoes.
Ace smiled, knowing it would be challenging. It was decently easy for him though. He liked vegetables and most healthy foods. “Uhh. Sounds right. So sure. Well allow it. Cauliflower.” He answered next. “Now if they could just get rid of the tension between them and just admit they like each other in that way, we’d be all set.” She commented, rolling her eyes. Faye kept flying near Zar, looking around occasionally.

He laughed after saying that, trying to think."Yeah like that'll happen soon," Zar replied with a small chuckle, glancing back at Hailey just to make sure she was there. For some reason she got the feeling she was gonna run off, though she wasn't sure why.
Ace shrugged. “Uhh. I don’t know if that counts or not. I can’t think of any that start with D either. But pickles are technically a vegetable. They’re made from cucumbers.” He commented, trying to think as well. “I know. But one can hope. It’s pretty simple. Nick just needs to spit it out. Or they both just need to not be oblivious cause we can all see it. They’re supposed to be together.” Faye replied. She followed Zar’s gaze and glanced back st Hailey. “What?” She asked when she looked back to Zar.

"Alright well I'm half right," Hunt said with a chuckle, trying to think. He gave up and looked behind him for help."Vince! What's a vegetable that starts with D?"Vince looked over when he heard the question, thinking for a moment.
"Daikon. It's a Chinese radish. Saw it on a show one time," he replied.
"Thank you!" Hunt called back, looking over at Ace,"There we go. Dai....whatever the hell he said."
"I agree," Zar replied, still looking at Hailey. Hearing Faye speak again though, she looked over and sighed."Nothing. I'm just....nothing."
Ace rolled his eyes. “Daikon.” He repeated, trying to commit it to memory so he could learn more about it later. He smiled. “Eggplant.” He answered quickly, trying to keep thinking and figure out the next few letters. Faye kept flying. “You sure? You know you can tel me anything.” She said gently, looking over at her to make sure it was nothing serious.

Ace chuckled a bit. “Fuck is not a vegetable hunt.” He teased happily. He smiled brightly at him. “Do you want to switch subjects?” He offered, knowing it was really challenging for him. Faye nodded. “Okay.” She let the subject go. She flew with her quietly for a while.

"Well....a guy can hope," Hunt said with a chuckle, shaking his head,"No....I'm just gonna ask someone more intelligent than I am. Nick! Gimme a vegetable that starts with an F man!" He didn't wanna quit with this one, he was gonna finish if it was the last thing he did....it was just hard.
Ace rolled his eyes. “You’re quickly running out of lifelines.” He teased hunt as they kept flying. Nick glanced back. “Umm. Good question..” he replied and Tried to think. “Fennel?” He suggested, unsure If that would work or not.
“Sounds like a vegetable..” ace agrees with a slight smile.
