I will be away from access to the Internet for the next few weeks so I am opening this waypoint a little bit early. It will take us to the 25th of August. I hope everyone is enjoying their challenge!

though i do have a serbian, a romanian and a bulgarian on my shelf waiting to be read, i have a book from a slovakian ordered

ukraine and moldova are causing an issue in finding one. it is getting temptinger and temptinger (not a real word) to include irene nemirovsky as being my ukrainian book as she was born in kiev but i feel this would not be right.

For my Romania book, I read Vlad: The Last Confession by C.C. Humphreys.
I can't say that I particularly liked this book - Vlad was 'The Impaler' after all. You did get quite a bit of detail about impaling, by the way!
Not for the faint-hearted. It was a different take on the Dracula tale though.
Onwards now to Bulgaria...
