Wendy (wendyone) | 18 comments Almost done with The Whitefire Crossing and really really love it. So much action, magic, adventure -- all the good stuff.

Ian Hall | 169 comments I am so excited The shannara trilogy By terry brooks has finally been delivered. I have never read this trilogy before and cant wait to get started. Im going to be starting The Sword of Shannara soon.

Finished yesterday:
A New Dawn (Star Wars) by John Jackson Miller
That book's the perfect gateway novel for readers interested in starting Star Wars, AND for old readers who're easing into the new EU. It went a long way to reviving all the interest I lost in Star Wars after they scrapped the old EU.
Here's my full review

Time to finish up Xenocide (The Ender Quintet, #3) by Orson Scott Card before the semester gets rolling, I think.

I have such fond memories of first reading the Shannara series! If you like traditional fantasy, you're in for a treat. Although I would say that the second book, The Elfstones Of Shannara is probably the best of the bunch.

I've officially put The Desert Spear on hold. I just can't get into it at all. My copy of The Relic Guild has just arrived in the post though (first time I've ever won a book in a Goodreads giveaway!) so I'm digging into that instead.

I'm surprised how many people I've heard saying this. Before I bought the book, I'd only ever heard positive reviews!

message 107: by Heather (new)

Heather (bruyere) I was reading The Way of Kings until five minutes ago, when I gave up. I hate the author's writing style. Life is too short! Now to hunt for something else for my audio selection.

message 108: by LoveBooksAndCats (new)

Tom | 12 comments Just finished The Scourge by Roberto Calas - Really enjoyed this book, adding him to my list of favourite authors alongside GRRM, Abercrombie & Lawrence.

message 111: by Nagarue (new)

Nagarue I have finished The Complete Book of Swords and figured I would go on to finish the eight books in the Lost Swords series as it may be the only time I have a chance to read the series straight through. I have read them all once before but as they where still being published at the time there was a good amount of time between book's. I started The Lost Swords: The First Triad : Woundhealer's Story : Sightblinder's Story : Stonecutter's Story after I finish the lost swords series I think I will go back and read the book I probably should have started with Empire of the East I have read that one a few times and own it on audio CD also, which is why I probably didn't think to start there, its also one of my all time favorites.

Loved this series, surprised it's not more popular with all the Walking Dead and Game of Thrones interest.

message 113: by Scarletine (new)

Scarletine Just read 'Fools Assassin' By Robin Hobb (angry face!) and now need to take my mind off it. On to 'Maskerade'by Terry Pratchett for giggles, and revisiting 'The name of the wind' and The wise man's Fear' By Patrick Rothfuss to before the release of 'The slow regard of silent things'

How long did Exchopraxia take you to work through? I'm thinking about taking a stab at it.

message 115: by Dan (new)

Dan Howitt Finally finished The Whitefire Crossing, it's not a very big book but for some reason it was a slow read for me. I really liked the two main characters though, so it made it worth it. At some point I'll read the sequel. Now however I think I may start on The Way of Kings.

message 116: by Marcus (new)

Marcus Finishing up the Ascendence Trilogy. By Jennifer Nielson

The Runaway King

and

The Shadow Throne

message 117: by Talitha (new)

Talitha (victorian_soul) I was ridiculously happy to find out that The Broken Eye was available as a kindle edition (despite the Hachette/Amazon feud) and so I am reading that now.

message 118: by Em Lost In Books (new)

Em Lost In Books (emlostinbooks) I'm reading The Summer Tree by GGK.

message 119: by Alissa (new)

Alissa | 220 comments I see there's some buzz about The Mirror Empire and City of Stairs, definitely on my to-read list now!
Apart from my planned books, this month I've also read Shadow of the Winter King, interesting worldbuilding, main character and plot, if you can get past the first 50 pages, and a helpless submissive and sexually eager trope-centered vision of women, and sex (or lack thereof, and not for trying) as defining feature of all characters. Currently I'm reading Seven Forges, I'm not impressed so far by both the plot and the prose, but I'm still reading.
Thank you all for the suggestions!

message 120: by Deborah (new)

Deborah Johns I just finished reading Feast Of Fates (Four Feasts Till Darkness #1) by Christian A. Brown. Hard to believe this is the first novel by this author - it had me hooked from the first word. What a great read and I am anxiously waiting for book 2.

message 121: by Joseph (new)

Joseph | 1651 comments Finished Caliban's War, read Gods of Risk (another interstitial story) and am about to start Abaddon's Gate, all by James S.A. Corey. These books are like popcorn.

message 122: by Elise (new)

Elise (ghostgurl) | 1028 comments I finished The Archons of the Stars, which ends the Dragon Throne trilogy. It was kind of formulaic and not the best written, but not bad.

Now I'm starting Obernewtyn
