Hello Helen,
I really enjoyed checking out your choices for July. You are so far along in many of your choices, I thought maybe it was time for a new one. Since I was intrigued by your new Selena Sharma series, which seems quite different, I choose that one for you. I hope you enjoy it and will let others (like me) know about it. Jeanne

Marianne - I am sorry to hear of your loss.

There's no need to apologize. Being with your family and grieving the loss of your loved one is infinitely more important. My thoughts and prayers go out to you.

message 78: by Helen (new)

Helen (helennn) | 1035 comments I finished my first for this month, Murder by Butter Chicken (Selena Sharma #1) by C.T. Mitchell and was hugely disappointed. It is extremely short, so no opportunity for character development, and it is set in an Australian small town near my home town. However, the author seems to have little local knowledge or grammatical awareness. Oh dear!

message 79: by Marianne (new)

Marianne | 165 comments Thank you everyone for your thoughts and prayers

message 80: by Conni (new)

Conni | 95 comments Finished my 1st book for the month!
Pies and Prejudice
Really good. I'm glad I read it and already started the 2nd!

message 81: by Jess (new)

Jess (mividadulce) | 145 comments I finished my 1st book, Naughty in Nice by Rhys Bowen. The satire and humour, which make me enjoy this series, were good as usual, but I was really happy to see the signs of MC growing up a bit finally (though still unbelievably naive with Darcy...). Will start the next one soon!

message 82: by Gary (new)

Gary Sundell | 794 comments Finished my first book. Another satisfying Danger Cove mystery.

message 83: by Kristina Simon (last edited Jul 12, 2018 10:51AM) (new)

Kristina Simon (kristinasimon) Finished my first book, The Surgeon by Tess Gerritsen. It's an edge-of-your-seat, can't go to bed until the last chapter is finished and then sleep with the lights on kind of book. Right up my alley... ;-) Starting the second in the series today.

message 84: by Jeanne (new)

Jeanne (oldemill) | 204 comments Finished both my July books. Loved them. They were Murder on St. Mark's Place and Murder on Gramercy Park (Gaslight mysteries) by Victoria Thompson. Thanks again, Jennifer, for a great choice!

You’re welcome! Glad they turned out so well!!

message 86: by Barbara (new)

Barbara Sousa | 504 comments I finished both of my July books. The series (T.J. Jensen/Paradise Lake) and author (Kathi Daley) were both new to me, and I really enjoyed the books, They were short, quick reads with interesting plot lines that distinguish them from the run-of-the-mill cozy. And the audio narration was spot on.
Pumpkins in Paradise (Tj Jensen Paradise Lake Mystery #1) by Kathi Daley Snowmen in Paradise (Tj Jensen Mystery #2) by Kathi Daley .

I liked them so much that I am listening to the third book now:
Bikinis in Paradise (Tj Jensen Paradise Lake Mystery #3) by Kathi Daley

Meg (makeli2) | 1543 comments I've finished my first Coffeehouse book, Once Upon a Grind (Coffeehouse Mystery, #14) by Cleo Coyle Once Upon a Grind and it was another good one in the series. Have the second one lined up.

message 88: by Gary (new)

Gary Sundell | 794 comments Just started my second book, but have two other books I may finish first. One is at 53% the other at 27%. Back to reading.

message 89: by Helen (new)

Helen (helennn) | 1035 comments I've finished my second. Murder of a Bollywood Queen (Selena Sharma #2) by C.T. Mitchell
These stories were so short they don't deserve to be called books. One Australian author I won't continue to follow. I can't believe the reviews on either Goodreads or Amazon!

message 90: by Kristina Simon (new)

Kristina Simon (kristinasimon) Finished my second book for the month: The Apprentice (Rizzoli & Isles, #2) by Tess Gerritsen I liked the first one a little better, but both were good. I'm looking forward to continuing the series. Thanks for the pick, Karen!

message 91: by Meg (new)

Meg (makeli2) | 1543 comments I completed my second read this past week, Dead Cold Brew (Coffeehouse Mystery, #16) by Cleo Coyle Dead Cold Brew, and I am still loving this series. The series is borderline cozy, IMO, so may not appeal to all, but it's one I've read since it first came out, way before I knew what a cozy was. It's got some adult themes but has some lovable characters (Madame comes to mind), has a great setting, is not particularly gory.

message 92: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer (jhaltenburger) | 652 comments Stayed up late and finished my second pick last night -- Deep Fried Homicide (Donut Shop Mystery, #13) by Jessica Beck . Every time I think I'm making headway on this series (DFH is #13) he publishes another one-- sure enough, #37 comes out Tuesday...

Finished it. Now off to work on other books on my currently reading shelf.

message 95: by Conni (new)

Conni | 95 comments Finished the 2nd book! Peach Pies and Alibis (A Charmed Pie Shoppe Mystery, #2) by Ellery Adams This book was even better than the 1st with a different twist, than I was really expecting. I hope to read more later on in this series. Now I'm off to start August challenge.

Jess (mividadulce) | 145 comments Don't think I can finish the second book, The Twelve Clues of Christmas by Rhys Bowen. I'm half way through and will continue to read it. It's actually quite fun and though it's July/Aug, it's winter here down under, so I'm enjoying my hot coco and this book :)
