YES! I encourage you to start discussion posts on topics that interest you, as long as they are related (at least somewhat) to the GAR list and project.

I might move a topic if I think it belongs in a different folder.

I would love it if someone wanted to build a challenge or two for the group.

I will set up the Group Reads and polls, and topics in the "Important" folder. [But if I'm MIA, please feel free to step up to post the group reads for me.]

Note: I'm the only moderator in the group now. Marnie has not returned. I would like to identify someone who has a real interest in this group, who would like to help moderate.

Let me know if you'd like to help. Or if you're not sure yet, just start trying things to see what works for the group.

Contingency plan:

Until then, if I have to leave the group unexpectedly (I have a very sick family member, so it's a possibility), will someone please step up to post the Group Reads at the right time? If it's time to select the upcoming book you could select the second choice on a recent poll to save time.

Please do not give people a hard time for wanting the group to function as normal, even when the moderator is gone. (Believe it or not, this happened in a group. More than 100 people voted to discuss a book, but a few people bullied those who suggested they start the discussion.) In this group, I would consider it more respectful to the moderator to protect their group, and continue as usual.

Thanks!
