message 167: by Craig White (new)

Craig White | 6727 comments cool list also tim, i have 'sextet' (textured sleeve of course), had and sold devo (on green vinyl), forgot to put au pairs on my list, and almost went for a different poison girls album - 'where's the pleasure?'.

'cry tuff dub encounter 1-4' are screaming out to be re-released as a set of some description!

Absolutely. I can't understand why they're not. Probably stuck in "rights" hell is most likely.

message 169: by Craig White (new)

Craig White | 6727 comments 2 & 4 have never been released, as is, on c.d. (2 available in re-arranged order with extras on 'dubwise). front line have the rights on that, 1 &3 last seen on pressure sounds, 4 on trojan, ye'd think it wouldn't be that problematic to unify!? don't know how central adrian sherwood (mixer of 1 -3) might be to it all.

I read somewhere (a long time ago) that the CD release of 'Songs The Lord Taught Us' has lost something that made the original vinyl special - it could be its been reissued again since, and problem fixed. Worth bearing in mind though. Mine is the vinyl.

message 174: by Craig White (new)

Craig White | 6727 comments it actually happened before it's 1st appearance on c.d.! i was appalled when i heard the vinyl version that appeared a couple of years after release (still on illegal', but i remember the label design being different), that was devoid of the clicks and hisses and general 'recorded in a toilet' sound that made it such a brilliant record.

Yes, but can you actually play? And strumming with your finger in a bar chord doesn't count! 😉

message 194: by Blastronaut (last edited Aug 21, 2018 07:07AM) (new)

Blastronaut | 1061 comments 10 things to (or not to) do on acid when you were a young un

1 - Sit in the house with a bunch of like-minded folk - Fun
2 - Go to a nightclub - Chaotic
3 - Go to the village pub which is full of folk who don't 'know' - Hysterical
4 - Again, hang around the house with a bunch of like-minded folk, but this time the law knocks on the door due to a complaint of loud noise - Hilariously insane as the most 'together' of the group composes themselves and prepares to answer the door whilst other 'less-together' individuals run for cover by trying to climb into food cupboards and such, that are obviously way too small to fit into.
5 - Go for a midnight walk in the woods - Visually splendid
6 - Go for a midnight walk in the woods... but this time walk right into the middle of a army cadet campsite, totally oblivious to the surrounding tents (well blended into the dark and trees, it does have to be said) until the very last minute - "W-w-what wuz that?" "Did anyone else see summat move over there?" "Hold on, there's movement everywhere, RUN!!"
7 - Go for a midnight walk in the woods in the winter and come across some fantastic mythical beast (a bull) in the corner of the field and be utterly mesmerized by the 'smoke' coming outta it's nostrils as it grunts and gets to it's feet looking non too impressed - RUN!!
8 - Return home about 3 or 4 AM and fear the awakening of mother who doesn't 'know' - Scary
9 - Grab a packet of crisps and wince with every crackle and crunch (which sounds loud enough too wake the whole village) as one tries to get into said bag - Terribly frustrating after going through all that, finally getting the bag open, and finding that the crisps are nothing like usual, with a taste more akin to haystacks (?)
10 - Getting a glimpse of oneself in the mirror in the dark, jumping outta one's skin and then, upon putting on the light, see that said skin looks kinda rubbery, a tad like a Spitting Image puppet - Freak out and scurry off to bed... where the only fractions of sleep one gets will be haunted by the most freakiest of dreams/nightmares

message 195: by Helen The Melon (new)

Helen The Melon | 3416 comments Biopic doesn't bother me at all but Dramedy is mildly irritating, don't know why. Turducken is just daft, but has the word turd in it, so that's ok ;-)

message 196: by Fishy_Jim (new)

Fishy_Jim | 1286 comments Tim wrote: "Yes, but can you actually play? And strumming with your finger in a bar chord doesn't count!"

Not brilliantly, but I muddle through. I find having different guitars to play is an incentive to practice more and I have improved noticeably over the past nine months.

message 197: by Lez (new)

Lez | 7490 comments All of Helen’s with a special mention for Chillax.

I loathe all the ‘holics.
Alcoholic is simply alcohol with the grammatically correct suffix ‘ic’
There are no such words as chocahol, shopahol etc. so you can’t add ‘ic to them. Aarrggghh!

message 198: by Brass Neck (new)

Brass Neck | 3979 comments To take your mind off such grammatical faux pas Lez, you could always pre-order some vinyls?!!

message 199: by Craig White (new)

Craig White | 6727 comments bang on list, blastro, the eating thing brought back a memory of coming home in the early hours, still buzzin', to find parents still up! aargh! assuming i was fu', my mother prepared me a soda scone with roasted cheese, which in another universe somewhere, i am still eating! the questions you ask yourself,
why does it feel that i'm eating a rolled up newspaper?
how long have i been eating it?
why won't they stop looking at me and go to bed?
i'll have to finish it however distasteful i'm finding the experience!

too much fun! :)
